  • Oh my god I never realized how racist this is. I used to watch it all the time as a little girl!!! It's still a good cartoon, but it's amazing how it used to be acceptable to have blackface in a cartoon. Terrible.

  • Love it!

  • WOW! This video is really old. I haven't seen this since I was about five. Good times.

  • ja! la fregada la voz del patito (XD)

  • Hahaha! I had completely forgotten about the little duckling saying "CONGA!" in that deep voice. Love it.

  • i had a vhs of all these 1940's and 50's cartoons. The vhs had like 150 toons and i lost the tape. I want to thank you all for posting these. I highly appreciate it. These are great works of art.

  • I have this cartoon on video and they censored the part when the sheep turened black. All you can see was the big blow of smoke and then went to the next band. I think the cartoon did better without the racism.

  • Wow, didn't realize the racism until today. I used to watch this RELIGIOUSLY! I wonder if my mom caught this back in the day?

  • OMG I used to have this tape!!!!!! DANGGGGGG!!!!!

  • Fantastic! Love this old cartoons!

  • hehehe memories from my childhood as well, another movie that was on the tape was balloonland... I don't remember the fish one :( If anyone does please post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That particular one was Jack was Every Inch A Sailor. Can't seem to find it on here.

  • Yeah I had the VHS too, the other three were, I believe, "Gobs of Fun," "The Goal Rush," and "The Emerald Isle." I have only been able to find "The Emerald Isle" on here also.

  • omg i hav the tape of this

  • Oh my God, I just realised - when the lambs have soot blown all over them and they turn black, they start singing all bluesy! That could be perceived as racist...

  • Yes. That's the idea

  • okay when I saw that it made me sick. Not when the lambs covered in soot sang really jazzy but when they smiled is when I started to get mad. It's like they're doing nothing wrong. I know that this was made a long time ago but it still hurts, I mean how could they potray people like that when they didn't even know them (african-americans)? Other than that the cartoon was okay.

  • Well, think of this way, the lambs sounded way better after they turned "black".

  • Yea they did. A heck of alot better. I was quite surprised.

  • In my defence, I have yet to meet a single popular bluesman that isn't sixty years old or more.

  • The "Screen Song" series was originally released by Paramount [their name isn't completely covered at :07], which had been produced by Max Fleischer for the studio between 1931 and 1938- this was around the time Paramount revived them, from 1947 through '51...this "Noveltoon" was a forerunner of the second series, in 1946.

  • I love this cartoon! I used to sing along with it when I was little. Thank God I still have the VHS that this is on.

  • I used to watch this all the time when I was a kid, one of the best cartoons ever! My favorite part is when the lambs are singing. The swing dancing chicks are very cute, too. Thanks for posting this, I was looking for it to show it to my son!

  • awesome I rememer this too!

  • i remember this cartoon
