In case no one knew, The Dark Tower is confirmed to be a film directed by Ron Howard. Now the order is still in debate; it'll either be the seven books compressed into four movies, or the first three books into their own movies and a TV series to follow up with the remaining books. :D
@davemelnick Alas, I do not. But if my sources are indeed correct, it has been confirmed...although, these Wizard's Glasses can be a bit tricky, and the pinkish smoke surrounding the man who gave me this information was rather suspicious...I should recheck this for more updates.
the points about the thinny and the creatures from wasteland are very interesting.
its almost like while roland and his ka-tet were heading for the tower. this movie showed how the world was bleeding into another due to the thinny. very interesting
The thing I'm worried about is the adaptations of the newer books. The books were really bad and had alot of filler (especially WoC) with little to no action in it, which might turn down viewers.
I reckon they might be better off making a TV series, they could cover more ground. If they market the hell out of it and say its by the makers of Lost, it could be succesful, as long as they stay true to the books. The main problem is unlike Harry Potter, The Dark Tower isnt that mainstream of a series so a movie might not be the best idea
If they make a movie, I really hope it kicks as much ass as the books. The Mist is pretty much a Dark Tower sort of concept if you think about it, The Mist could be a thinny and the monsters could be from Todash space.
If you think about it, that Mist is supposedly a "dimensional door." Fit this with the concept of a thinny, and boom, you have it. What this could be is like, a fabricated thinny, possibly. Sides, I think what Stephen King -was- trying to convey is that these creatures -are- from Todash space, and may be a direct link to the Gunslinger's world. Then again, almost all of Stephen Kings books are unusually linked together.
You have a good point; some of the monsters from The Wastelands towards the end when they are riding Blaine the Mono bear similarity to those in The Mist.
i would have agreed until i saw that abortion of a tv series "legend of the seeker" based on Terry Goodkinds amazing Sword of truth series....they already raped on of my favorite book series...and if they were to do that to kings...i'd rather it just stay in print.
I wonder what the gunslinger's purse will look like in the movie. I always imagined it a bit like a kangeroo skin sack with a leather string to tie it together
o my gosh, I already thought I were the only one getting this was roland! when I asked my mother, she said it could be indiana jones, untill I pointed on the tower, the rose, the guns and the door. I saw it the first seconds I saw the painting... when I saw this, I just freaked out! The whole rest of the movie, I told my
wow, my husband, who hasn't read the books but heard me talk about them for so long actually pointed this out to me, and was my whole reason for having to watch the Mist ASAP. Which of course at seeing the Dark Tower connection, and Roland, I couldn't help but get excitied! Anything with the dark tower on screen is truly exciting thought, and wonderful to see the connection!
All i did throughout "The Mist" was look for more Dark Tower connections after seein this. Either way, the paintings of Roland are stunning...and suprisingly the movie wasnt bad either. As a big Dark Tower fan i was very pleased to see something straight from Thunderclap in movie.^^
I think the mst monsters came form the dark tower univrse according to one of the books t said that a mist full of monsters were their and then something happened and in the movie the mist scientists try opening gateways to other dimensions which may have lead to the dark tower unverse
"All i did throughout "The Mist" was look for more Dark Tower connections after seein this. .... i was very pleased to see something straight from Thunderclap in movie."
What did you see?
I'm just discovering the connection between the mist and the dark tower.
Stephen King made a point of inter-connecting a lot of books together.
"J Abrams works on Lost(tv show), then bought the movie rights to the Dark Tower for 19 dollars. So Abrams will work on both Lost and the Dark Tower series."
Yes, silly. And if you want to get specific, that looks more like Clint then Ro. Plus the bandoleer looks big enough to house rifle cartridges rather then .45 revolver. Either way, you'd have to be a fool to not see who it's supposed to be. And when I saw this in theaters, my heart jumped. I'm a big DT fan.
I also like the "The Thing" poster on the wall.

As to the thinny being the cause of the mist, it directly states that it is in the Dark Tower Concordance.

En efecto la niebla esta conectado con la torre oscura.
The mist is a direct reference to the Dark Tower, just read wastelands too see what i¨m talKING about

A "thinny" was the interdimensional opening in the movie. So the movie itself is a direct reference to the Dark Tower. That's what I think anyways.

This was my favorite part of the movie.

@Murtagh42 Yea...this, Miss Carmody being shot & the army guy talking of different dimensions were my favorites.

The Dark Tower needs to be done as a series on HBO, 1 or 2 seasons.

To the people below, I so happened to love W&G, probably my favourite book :)

Great idea - to put this picture in the begging of the movie! Great movie also! I love them both, I adore King!

the books were the greatest series ever (IMO) and the lack of action built up, so when it occured you were like "Holy Shit, thats awesome!"
BUT W&G was a let down I think, could have been much better, with less flashback, but it was till awesome, least favourite of the DT Series though

That's not Roland. Roland wears his gunbelts low, across the hips.

Ironically, this was probably the best part of the movie... and it probably made people want to see the dark tower more than the mist
Rockmaster2112 4 years ago
Damn right. That was pretty much my exact reaction in when I saw it. I hardly paid attention to the movie afterwards. How wonderfully distracting!
