  • haha, my user name is pretty stupid so I could only imagine telling people to only call me that. Hey, EEEKROAR, do you like ranch dressing?

  • @EEEKROAR Definitely have a point there...lol

  • I agree. Can't be 100% anonymous at a big meetup. Its not reasonable to think you can. It is good form not saying a person's last name, or where they work, that kinda real personal stuff but first names and faces are pretty much fair game. :D

  • @RC62 I have made it through 4 pretty good sized meetups since I started vlogging and we have never had a problem. Have met some great people and the meetups are one of the highlights of my year.

  • Man to man!!!

  • @LifeInDecibel It is one thing to sit behind a monitor when you have all the time in the world to think and formulate ideas on who and what you want others to see you as. It is completely different when you are standing face to face with another human being and have to be prepared on the spot to communicate your answers. If that is difficult for some to do, then a big group meeting would not be your forte.

  • @Wilks89 Oh i'm not disagreeing with you. I just liked how you said man to man. :)

  • Definitely not anonymous here! Been behind a camera since the late 70's and now enjoy being "part" of the camera and interacting. Bad vlogs and editing, yep that's just me 8-)

  • @BrianWest58 I really have no problem with people maintaining their anonymity, but dont try and force others in a group setting to maintain your boundaries. Think I am saying that right..lol.

And as long as a vlog has a meaning or a well thought out group of ideas, it is never bad.

  • Anonymity and meet ups are basically polar opposites. Why would someone go somewhere to meet up with people if they are trying to stay anonymous.

  • @Rand0mRider Have no clue. Maybe you should ask iamramekin. It was his comment that I saw. Would love for him to do a video reply and explain his side.

  • great topic...but no comment! LOL

  • @chado34 Oh you know you have something to say...come on, let it out, we wont judge...lol

  • @Wilks89 lets just say im already not very popular among the YouTube motovlog community... and im not looking to stir things up any worse! :) Love your work!

  • @chado34 dude, you are loved and you know it. Get off that shit!! Tell the room-mate you need some military grade happy pills..lol I know they have them, my ex was / probably still is on them...hahaha.

  • @Wilks89 LOL too funny!

  • Most the time that I actually so use their name is when I talk about them to another person. If I'm saying their actual names, a lot of people won't know who I'm talking about. And when I use the user name on video is usually so whoever the audience is knows who I'm talkin' about. Ryan and Rynoride kinda click so most people can probably guess who ryan is if they know he vlogs. (Kinda of thing....hard to explain).

  • @rynoride (cont.)... I don't see the "cliques" your mentioning, really. But I do see a group of friends who ride together and hang out due to their geographic location. Plus...some people will lean more towards the vlogger/videos they either have a common interest with. I dig stunts, rockin' music, and any video that gets my blood pumpin'. Or the vlogger that I can see myself hangin' out with. Pretty much, no matter where you go in life, people will always flock to others that "clique" with.

  • @rynoride I wish I could remember which video it was that I saw that in the comments. I havent really seen any cliques either, that is was wondering if anyone could expound on the topic and maybe clue me in. I would love personally meet and ride will all the motovloggers that I subscribe to. North - South - East - West...think it would be one hell of a party for sure.

  • I totally agree on the anonymity thing! I've always thought it was lame to "hide" behind the camera anyway. I'm not a fan of calling people by their youtube names either. If commenting on a video, sure okay - whatever. But I won't put someone in my phone contact list using a youtube name.

As for cliques... yes, I have noticed a couple of cliques. I don't use that term in regards to "AZ folk" "atlanta folk" "ozark folk". I've been around april 2008, I don't get involved in yt drama though.

  • @EvilSquid76 Dont think I have ever used that term either. I think the most I have ever used in describing the different groups was the word "crew." It seems appropriate to say that if you are going to spend the time and money to come to a big meetup, then you really should be trying to hide from all the cameras..lol

  • I think group meetups are great! It's not a place to be asking folks to put away their cameras though, LOL. If you wanna keep your anonymity, meet just one vlogger at a time. Meetups are a great time to put away any barriers and open yourself to meet people of all types no matter what they ride, etc.

  • @808yewtube nice. I couldn't have said that better.

  • @808yewtube very well said. If you are not prepared for that, it is probably best that you stay home Thee 4 meetups I have been to since I started vlogging in 2007 have been nothing short of amazing and I would never want to stop.

  • I couldn't agree more with the anonymity thing. At one the Ar meets I remember someone saying 'I'd rather you not film my face.' All I could come up with as a reply was 'then don't get infront of me.' As for the cliques, I think for sure there's a lot of little groups, but only one or two that I'd actually call a clique. Like Nechick said, most of them are welcoming to newcomers. But I can think of one or two that aren't quite as 'open.'

  • @Trinith haha, who was that?? I guess I just havent come across any of the real clique thing yet, or it has just went over my oblivious head, which is more likely...lol

  • @Wilks89 I don't remember exactly who it was. I just recall it happening.

  • I don't think many of us Uk moto-vloggers meet up! shame really!

  • @spicy110 I know there is a thread on motovlog dot com about a big UK meetup and I have seen several vids in the past where a bunch of the guys got together and went to the Ace Cafe? and did some riding.

  • Being a motorcycling superhero requires utter anonymity. Only my faithful butler know my true name, and he only speaks it while in the safety of the secret underground LP cave. ;-)

My clique is so aloof, that I'm the only one in it...

  • @L0udP1p35 lol

  • @L0udP1p35 You are just to damn cool!! Have always wanted to ask, but does your cape match the color of your bike?

  • @Wilks89 Yes Mike, the cape does match. Unless I have the cloaking field in operation. Muh hahaha!

Enjoy your semester break, my friend, and congrats on the straight As!

  • @L0udP1p35 Thanks, I am getting pretty good at being a student again. haha

  • Ya left out the LV clique or 'the originals'.Clique is something I would say if they don't welcome new people. Seems like the groups you mentioned just have things in common, not sure if they are exclusive or not...

  • @NeChick215 I cant think of any that are or have ever been exclusive. Even to the point of the type of bike you ride. As for the LV clique, that seems so long ago now and there are so few of us left, that it really dont count for much. I enjoy seeing more and more new vloggers come into the scene. Everyone has a story to tell and a new way to do it. It is refreshing.

  • Like or dislike the like now....

I have a weird form of ADD - that involves the trouble of not being able to remember names passwords and such. So if people are identified by me, for me, by some adjective or similarity to something, I just keep it like that. But the utter fear of other people knowing You?!?!? Suppose these folks have something to hide. Privacy is totally another matter. Intrusion of it - also not cool. For me - WIlks89 - i would probably call You that forever and no disrespect!

  • @Snowhite808 If you are taking time out of your life to travel many miles to come to a meetup, you are opening yourself up so I hope you, as a motovlogger, have nothing to hide. Dont think anyone is going to be digging into your personal life anymore than you want to offer..lol. Oh and Wilk or Wilks is fine, dont have to use the numbers. I have had that nickname pretty much all my life and answer to it.

  • @Snowhite808 Most of us don't mind if someone would rather call us by our YT sn's, I think the root point was about people who don't want to tell you their real name even in person. Probably half the people I know call me by my sn even in person, and some of them have known me for years!

  • Interesting vid. I agree that people can choose to remain anonymous but at the same time you have to be realistic. once you meet someone in person or choose to welcome them into your circle of friends there has to be a measure of trust. telling someone your name isnt a big deal. its not like you're giving SS#s and ATM PINs. As for cliques of course that will happen as people live near each other and become friendlier but it shouldnt exclude others from becoming part of the discussion. ride safe!

  • @dafobra Thanks for the comment. I agree with the clique thing in that aspect, but I cant think of any that have been so self centered that they havent welcomed any and all other vloggers to meetup.

  • On a meet up discussion is fine but face showing isn't that simple. For you sheltered peeps fine. But what if you busted people as THE LAW. or uncovered some really evil thing trying to go down as a Private investigator and the law came in and busted them as result. One actually split the country to avoid prosecution and went to Costa Rica. Its not that simple.

  • @invisiblemon Yeah, i can see your point, but that is a bit out of the scope of what I was talking about. The only PI motovlogger that I have know of quit vlogging a while ago. Sucks too, because I definitely enjoyed his vids.

  • Well done on all As mate. On subject of anonymity, I will try to remain anonymous on my own channel, but I'm not going to ask somebody to spend hours blurring me out of their video. And losing my anonymity wouldn't deter me from attending a meetup. And like braceyoself said, I think there are cliques based around bike types too.

  • @OoxTruExoO I have always thought of a meetup as opening yourself up even more to the people you watch on YT. If that isnt the case for some people, it probably is best to stay at home behind your own camera vice infront of 15..lol

  • @OoxTruExoO and thanks, I am hoping to have my CCNA by this time next year.

  • where in south ms are you, in hattiesburg here

  • @ladale21 I live in Pass Christian. Have been here on the coast for about 2.5 years now.

  • ...I didn't film as much last year. Because I'd rather just hang out and not worry about filming. But after getting home and not having any footage, I realize that I would like the footage to go back and review/relive the experience again. Oh and PS, I just bought a new wallet as well. Haha, ahhhhh fresh leather.

  • @ToastToGo Think I should have waited until summer, need some good butt sweat to help break this thing in...lol

  • I don't know, but when I meet someone in person,"behind the camera" identity kind of goes away. It's like...I watch peoples videos , and identify them by their YT handle, then when I meet them in person, I'd like to know them more on the personal level, and kind of forget about the whole ordeal about filming stuff for othe people to see. I guess it's kind of like, you make videos to meet and interact with people, but in person, I forget about videos, and try to make friends. Guess that's why..

  • @ToastToGo as we all do. I was the same way. I took almost no video last year. But there are those times when we were all grouped together talking that pictures or video was taken. So in a setting like that, the whole group shouldnt be forced to be mindful of everything they film or photograph.

  • Everything you mentioned was pretty true man haha

  • @franufc8 Thanks!! Truth is funnier than fiction?? lol

  • yup, there are cliques in the moto-vlogging community, usually deals with what kind of bike and riding style you do. Rebelyell91 use to have a ninja 250, then switched to a klr, he lost a huge following after that. So I guess so lol

  • @braceyoself777 but wouldnt that mean there are cliques in the viewers. I dont think any of the other motovloggers quit watching him because he switched bikes. Hell, he has even inspired many people to get a KLR from watching his vids.
