@jcbrowns yeah I was wondering about that myself it looks a little thick and raw, also bare in mind this is probably a sweet onion, but I guess its down to taste, I'd probably have a slice half that width.
I do something pretty similar. I get a large zip lock bag and put about enough beef for 6-8 burgers. I also put a bottle of the personal size white whine. Then I throw in some garlic salt and some onion powder. Like on the youtube you need to form the burgers very well or they will fall apart on the grill. I like to squeez out some of the juices so its not too wet. Then I throw on some swish cheese and some mushrooms on a grilled potato bread. Best home made burger I ever made. Happy cooking.

it's also worth noting that these pit boys use those sugar sweet Georgia Vidalia onions in many of their recipes which probably explains why those slices they use are, big, thick and raw. Onion sandwich, anyone? yeah!!!!

They need to toast the buns for a few minutes with a coating of butter on them. It makes the bread a tad crispy. and I would leave the onions in for the entire cook on this one.. all in all. great vid.
