100% pilots fault. Even before takeoff he was facing to the crowd. I've been flying RC for almost 40 years and never had a incident as bad as his. There will always be things like radio or mechanical failure in flight, but this was a disaster waiting to happen.

What you can't see is that the active runway is about 50 feets(15meters) further out than the planes posistion when it starts the "take off". As the video starts the pilot has just made a left turn towards himself so many spectators(me included) thought something was wrong.
Then when it starts rolling people scatter away from it, both to and from the runway position, clearing a path down the middle of the "crowd" line.
I'm afraid the blame is solely with the pilot in this instance!

However, this plane started heading towards the crowd - and the cameraman - within the first 2-3 seconds of rolling - WAY before your "inherent jet instability at low speed" issue would even kick in. Just read some newer comments here that this was "just an accident" and "no one's fault", or "no big deal". WRONG! It's the PILOT'S responsibility to make sure people are safely away from his plane when he takes off and lands it (and operates it on the ground). @microdon2 there was nothing reckless about this guy or his flying, jets don't respond well at low speeds, the controls (aileron, elevator, rudder etc...) on a jet rely on airspeed, low speed on take off means reduced control, add a crosswind and presto plane drifts, learn aerodynamic effects before running your mouth. tool.
@microdon2 also there is the "at own risk" factor that applies to spectators and pilots alike, if u can't deal with the danger element take up knitting! and if a injury/death caused by a model aircraft increased regulation and expense all us model pilots would be flying the real thing because it would be cheaper and easier, people like you are more damaging to the hobby than any accident.

2. not backing off on the throttle straight away (even though this may have hit someones leg,its better than in the head).
