este no tiene ni idea de hacer scratch ni flare ni crabs ni pollas en remojo...el testing man no funciona ahora... que tienes mas videos haciendo tutoriales que Anaya multimedia y no tienes ni idea de hacer un puto flare
this is a good tutorial if you know absolutely nothing about djing, as he goes through almost everything, how to used the mixer etc. i stopped watching after 2 mins cause i couldnt stand him talking.
I love all ur vids Jonathan, I've prolly watched hundreds and I've also been to your site many times and this is the first one I've commented lol. I want to thank you. You've taught me 80% of what I know as far as djing over the years. There arnt any djs around where I live and I don't have a mentor so I consider you my mentor, your the best man. Thanks:)
i think this video is fantastic, as are all 'ellaskins' vids imo, and i've been scratching for over a decade so i know how hard these things are to learn/teach/understand and i must say these videos are by far the best at explaining i've seen... keep up the gr8 work man
This is excellent teaching, you dont need to be the worlds best turntablist to teach others the basics, he may not be good at transform scratching but he does know how it works and thats what hes passing on on this video, respect
talk a little bit?! you dont shut up! great vid like but fuckkkkk you explain every little thing! chill out with the talking and just get on with it :-|
You know, they don't call this guy the DJ TUTOR for no reason. There are a lot of people like me who are new to this, and I am personally glad he takes the time to describe every little thing.
i agree now, i was a begginner and just wanted to get going, ive realised how good this guy is.. you know what begginners are like.. dicks, just want to get going and dont know the basics, i was one.. sorry mate
Dude! You have done something good there mate. you have used different learning styles to engage people..have you thought about youth work you've got the right energy. Props to you mate :))
I understand is goal but would have a lot more respect for him if he actually walked the walk and stopped freaking talking abought it. Hows it go? Those who cant... teach!
without a curve control you wont really be able to get the correct crab sound . you just wont be able to cut the sound on and off properly.the curve control makes to sound drop out really close to the edge of the fader making the crab sound.
DJ Angelo UK scratch videos please anyone who is just starting out in turntablism ought to check out his videos and even if your intermediate like myself its still worth a check.
dont listen 2 all those wankers m8. im rob from aberaeron i know snips n all them! just wanna say thanks 2 u i think i finally get it!! i didnt realise that the setting on the fader made a difference, and the pressure on the thumb, why didnt i think of that!! ur an awsome teacher man keep up the good work!! n once again nice 1 m8 gna have a practice now! safe
you fuckin retard, you keep trying to learn from this guy & he's even telling you he's no good, excuse me but whats the fuckin point? would you learn how to read & write from a deaf man with no arms?... no you wouldnt so kill that noise!
ellaskins...if you don´t get the crab try the twiddle. it´s a nice way to practice how the thumb should behave as a spring and it´s not as difficult than a crab.
if I want a concise video i'll look elsewhere, if I want to watch an extremely helpful and indepth video from a guy who's quite passionate about DJing i'll stick with you
I posted a link of this video to help someone and they found it a great help, so despite your ramblings- we still love you, and I suppose your rambling is actually quite funny
but seriously I think anyone that's watching a video about how to crab scratch (which is quite an advanced technique) is going to know where the crossfader is :/
and I think we're all familier with upfaders
you're a great teacher but this could have been half the length if you be a bit more concise with your tutorials
Respect to you teaching what you've taught but whats the point of teaching something in which you arent comfortable at...
People if you're serious about scratching get DJ QBERTS DO IT YOURSELF VOL 1, It'll teach you everything about scratching and setup's (equipment etc).
your good at teaching and reviewing lol. but if ya cant really scratch dont bother doin a tutorial on crab scratches! we know what the crossfader is and the curve n that. respect anyways
why are you guys complaining jonathan its one if not the best tutor on dj regardless of what subject he explains come on guys no other dj tells you that you can snap your fingers he is really helping out
STOP BITCHING AT THE GUY HE IS HELPING US OUT FOR FREE.
ellaskin don't pay attention to the haters keep teaching. Your videos are the only available resource I can find on scratchin, if it wasn't for you I would be so much worse than I am now. you fuckin rock man!
yeah its cus hes not a turntablist hes a dj and he said like 15 times that he wasnt good give the guy a break, but you did take quite a while to explain what the crossfader does, i think that whoever is looking for a tutorial on crab scratching which is getting quite advanced knows how the crossfader works
you should not be teatching people this SHIT you call scratching you fucking brain dead CUNT go and learn and practice for fuck sake you fucking CUNT AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Sounds like you're "talking the talk" too. How about showing us how it's done, then?
Dig around Youtube and you'll soon find that Ellaskins is one of the best dj tutors around. He gives us clear instruction, easy explanations and sometimes a little history too.
Get the theory for the Crab form Ellaskins then go and find Q-Bert for the practical lesson.
Dude, Jonathan said like 20 times that he isn't very good, even said he was a -50 on a scale of 1 to 10. He's very humbly just giving beginners help with the concept of scratching. You need to learn how to spell "guy" because that's really the wrong way to go about it. And check out these things called "apostrophes."
The trick to the crab is that it's best to use either two or three fingers. Four makes it almost impossible and doesn't make your scratch any better. Also if you start the sound with the fader already open (sound playing) then you get a free click (cut off). Does that make any sense? Basiclly instead of turning the sound on with your first finger tap, you're first movement is turning the sound off with the thmumb. That way 3 fingers get's you 4 quick on offs.
Well that's fine but like I said, it's pointless to do 4 fingers. You can get 4 on offs with three fingers as long as you begin the scratch with the fader on instead of off. The crab is kinda played out anyway, it's much better to flare.
's wierd cos ive been learning tremolo on the guitar and what im understanding from this is that the movement of your fingers rapidly pushing in sucession against the crossfader is real similar to the movement you make of your fingers with the tremolo or arpeggio.
Dude this is really awesome! You posted this video on my birthday =D

J, I like you but your vides show no progress at all. They are WAY too long and repeat themselves over and over again. It's almost painful. Why not shorten them and be precise and direct instead of ooooooverexplaining everything. I know, you're doing it for the noobs. But noobs also want crunchy stuff.
not everybody watches all of the videos for one, so it helps repeating some things he's mentioned before, and plus I found him repeating things really helped me - that way you dont forget
good job explaining it took me a while back in the day to get it then it just started sounding good if u have a battle mixer and ur up fades
have the buttons to make them good for scratching it makes alot easy to practice crabn with those first its easyer i also scratch the other way then u easyer for me that way eh to each there own hehe
One thing to note, though: Many scratch DJs like to reverse their crossfader to what's known as the 'hamster' position so they'd be doing the crab at the side nearer to the turntable they're scratching.
Excellent explanation, try keeping your arm loose during the Transformer scratch (technically what this is).
