  • Iam still here lol i want that second tune banjo as a ring tone... arrrhh have to have it..help ! O i know.. ill record it from here and transfare it on phone and use Katie's longest banjo bit..sorted,love her style.Iam wondering how long it takes to be that good?

  • ...... Looks like there playing in front of a dead audience. lol

  • Greetings from Cornwall UK ..Love the banjo in this,i bought me a mean ole banjo today and cant wait to get started on it,pic on my profile ,it was made in Australia apparently,a very unusual but very cool looking , anyway iam gonna watch this again. yeee haaw !

  • <3

Love It..<3 ** This Is What Made All Americans Happy, MERRY CHRIAS N BLESSED NEW YEAR **

  • I don't think I have ever seen a bass player with nicer hair

  • the girl banyo player is wonderful but ¡very cold!!!!!!!!!

  • Very fine fiddlin' and banjo pickin'. I could liisten to this all day.

  • what a great Banjo player, god she has so much talent its unreal.

well done. you can be a star .

  • I must have watchd this video 100 times, and just noticed they are in a grave yard!! This spirits are happy. :)

  • @fukmesillytwice Lol!!!!! When it gets to crowded on the front porch & under the trees, we head to the graveyard next to the trees! I like to think those resting there would enjoy hearing the music going on around them.

  • @gingermc2 I agree!! This is so natural, plus they are pretty DAMN good!!

  • I love the music and the way they face each other playing for and to their peers But please get a better camera HD if possible. what are all there names

  • @pandadan1 In jam sessions they always face in in a circle - makes it hard for filming (lol!) can't get everyone's face unless you run around. The name (that I knew) are in the description.

  • Looks like a lotta fun!

  • I love her way of picking, her absent minded demeanor etc.

  • We need more videos with the banjo girl...

  • AAAAAAMEN! GO KATIE GO!!!!!!!!

  • Notice how good this sounds, out in the open, no studio, no amps, just simple, and good. can't say that for alot of music these days.

  • @joracer1 Exactly! Nothing fake or enhanced here.

  • That girl can pick!

  • I don't know why I can't quit watchin this video over and over... there is no doubt that music transcends all borders .... I love this music!

  • @Sancho18003 You are absolutely right! We have that in common all over the world. Some videos (& songs) just grab you & you have to keep listening.

  • I think I fell in love with this banjo girl.. so beautiful, but would be a whole lot better if she put a smile on that pretty face! Love this music!!!!

  • GOD BLESS YOU AMERICANS!

  • Katie is Awesome on the banjo i love it

  • I like this music it's perfect

  • that was some fine pickin' there young lady you do yourself proud!

  • my uncle actually wrote in the gravel yard, it got nominated for bluegrass song of the year

  • This is great !! You need to get some new stuff / meaning more stuff it dose my heart good to see yong people playing bluegrass !! And this yong gal plays a mean bonjo, the base is smokin too these gals are good !! Keep em comin .

  • Katie, you can really pick it girl. Kristin Scott Benson and Allison Brown have nothing on you. Keep pickin and you will eventually eclipse their celebrity.

  • I actually do have a new band. You can check us out on my channel.

  • Katie, I have a suggestion, if you read these comments. Loose the old folks, and find a singer like Allison Krauss to form a band with. Take the bass player with you too. You'll be playing the grand old opry instead of the old backyard barbeque.

  • I like this music!

  • So do I. Bluegrass is very happy music!

  • :-)

  • katie, you have the little dog'attention at 2:25! banjo on #1!!!

  • Katie, you are without doubt a very talented banjo picker but do, please, try to smile.

  • @1358124 watch her foggy mountain video. i said the same thing.

  • @1358124 real banjo players don't smile :-|

  • @1358124

You just don't understand bluegrass. The 2nd law of bluegrass is: Thou Shalt Not Smile Whilst Playing the Banjo. Just let Katie do her thing; she's got a perfect bluegrass scowl.

  • @1358124 I wonder if she is related to Elizabeth Fitch. They both are wonderful musicians and share the same demeanor. Elizabeth plays the fiddle, by the way.

  • Katie, I think you are very talented,I'm sure it has been asked before, but could you tell me how old you are here and how old your were when you started playing? I would love to be able to play, but will soon be 43 years old and have'nt started yet,any thoughts or suggestions on how to get started? You are blessed with some talent for sure, it just does my heart good to see young people playing, keep up the great playing, I wish you the best & hope you never lay that banjo down.

  • Well thank you. I'm 17 years old. I started when i was 13. I was prob 15 in this video? I cant remember. THe best advice I can give is to pick it up and try, try,and try again. There are many great videos to learn from (beginer-advanced) or even find a teacher that lives in your area. Thanks for the kind words, hope my advice answered your question, and good luck!

    Katie

  • Thats some mean banjo keep it up!

  • I'm not a huge fan of archtops ( no offence ) but i had mine re-setup, and it sounds better than ever. These videos are from a few years ago. Hopefully I can get some new ones updated.

  • who's the other hottie on the bass

  • katie thanks for sharing that with us since i heard you play i changed my 1994 rb 250 to an archtop tonering now it sounds more like yours now i just need to practice more in hopes of getting into jam circles

  • katie we like the way you play shuckin the corn what kind of banjo are you playing it sounds like an archtop thanks to gingermc2 for recording this

  • thank you gidfiddle. No, I'm not playing an archtop. It's a 2007 Goldstar ( gf-85 model)

  • you are makeing that gold star sound good proveing again it is all in the picker

  • SWEEEET picking . Great tone and timing !!!!!!

  • im from blount county, tn. which is part of townsend

  • Is this the same Katie from somewhere around Fairhope Alabama who is also extremely talented on the fiddle? If it is you should see her play the fiddle. She can tear up Milk Cow Blues. I go up to Townsend often just to see the festival.

  • I don't know where she's from. Always just assumed TN. I ;pve going to Townsend!

  • is that your granddaughter or somethin

  • No. Met her a couple of years ago at Townsend.

  • I love it!

  • Katie Norton without a doubt is one of the very best of the new generation of banjo pickers.

    You go girl!

  • Pickin' to SOLID!

    Fantastic pickin' Katie-

    Banjoistically yours,

    Jon Eric

  • Now this is REAL bluegrass! At it's finest! So great to see young ladies who can play the banjo, Scruggs-style at it's best! You go girl!!

  • Hot-Dang,,,That's some good stuff!!!

  • I agree!

  • Wooooooo Hooooooooo Now This Is THE GOOD STUFF! GIT` ER` DONE!

  • Really nice straight Scruggs. Keep it up!

  • wow! never like b4 .. now i do ...

  • Good for you! Bluegrass is fun music.

  • Yes, they are all great! I love to see young people getting into Bluegrass Music! And I think Katie may be the next Earl Scruggs! I bet Earl couldn't play as good as Katie when he was her age!

  • So do I. There were so many young people there who could sing & play bluegrass.

  • Yes they are all very talented. But Katie really shined on the banjo. She is awesome!

  • Yes, she is!

  • love blugrass....... you should put all this on a dvd.......

  • That's the good thing about bluegrass, it sounds the same live as on the CD. Great stuff. Loving the banjo picking, awesome.

    D.J. Cormier -

  • Or sometimes even better - has that "live" flavor to it. Katie is great. They are all so talented.

  • Thanks :)

  • You're very welcome.

  • wow, those girls are good !!!!

  • Very talented young people!
