The Magic number is the 1960 Edsel if he has any they are the rarest and the ultimate one to find in a junkyard is the 1960 Edsel Convertible only 78 made.
Sacramento just off Florin road.. follow the old tracks... look for Lumber yard on right then turn left..I forget the street name but he has two yards full this is just one yard...about 100 cars in all... ;(
Unfortunately there are only a handful of 6 digit Edsels. Suprisingly I see complete Edsels sell for $10,000 all the time... You can get B+ Edsels for 5K.and that blows my mind. What I'm getting at (and hopefully its just todays market) is that these cars are gonna cost more to restore than they are worth... and that sucks. However I dont build cars to sell them so a McCoullough supercharged Edsel with 500 ft-lbs of torque could definately sit in my driveway.
What a waste! Just letting them sit out there uncovered as they slowly turn to rust buckets one by one. Lots of cars like that near indian reservations doing the same thing. A cheap tarp can go a long way but then he wouldn't get to see his junk every time he looks at it very well. And that music is terrible. My boat was built in 1957 and it was garaged for more then 30 years. I keep it under a two car car port because I care about it enough.
MY HEAVEN!!! i have a 59 edsel ranger. i have enough parts to fix up 2 more. but i seriously may head to sac and pick on up for when i build a hot rod!!!
I could spend hours in a place like this. Ever since I was a little kid (I'm 56 now) I've always had this strange fascination with junk cars and to this day I don't know why.
This is heaven! A scrapyard full of cars from the fifties, a gorgeous landscape that goes on for eternity that reassures you that all is well, and the comforting fact that you have enough parts to last you until the end of time. Give me tools and rusted metal, and I'm in paradise.
Watch in five years someone will post a vid on here of their Edsel Graveyard Restoration Project. The Edsel will be restored to a condition that might actually surpass original factory/showroom caliber. people are fanatics about this stuff and WILL spend the money.
its not a junkyard these cars take up two acres in the guys ten acre old farm Near Florin Road in South Sacramento. Look for railroad tracks crossing east Florin road
The Edsel grille is the most interesting part of the car...very Facel Vega and early 70's Pontiac...Notorious for rust??? What steel bodied car isn't. A ridiculously fickle consumer public doomed the Edsel as she had no tailfins, very little ornamentation by comparison to other makes, an interesting yet poorly executed tele-touch, and finally her timing was terrible, as the recession did what our times now have done to Oldsmobile and Pontiac. The 61 Edsel became the 61 Ford Comet.
you dont know a damn thing.they werent bad cars at all, thats saying 58-60 fords and mercurys were all junk too because they were the same car you imbecile.they had poor marketing is what made them''bad''
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHH!!!!!!!! timmy youre so funny!!!did you think that up all by yourself or did your life partner help???by the way,i find it very ironic you hail from moronville canuckia...how apropos...
this makes me very sad. The edsel died of bad timing and economy. I own a 58 ranger two door and need a set of fenders badly to complete the restoration. These cars are amazing time peices and when i go to a car show and an edsel pulls up the crowd really notices because you just dont see them.
Sacramento just off Florin road.. follow the old tracks... look for Lumber yard on right then turn left..I forget the street name but he has two yards full this is just one yard...about 100 cars in all... ;(
Reminds me of some old car hoards in the UK: "I can't / won't do anything with them, but it gives me a sense of power to refuse to sell them" Know what I mean?
such a sad shame.. almost seems like he's got a grudge against them... "no one can fix 'em if I OWN THEM ALL!!"
It's my understanding that nothing was actually *WRONG* with the Edsel's.. it's just that it was being touted as a revolutionary car.. and to people back in the late 50's that probably meant it was a flying jet car or some kind of atomic powerplant... and the reality was it wasn't far removed from what was already available.
to sirstrongbad: my understanding was that ford did market surveys that indicated that people wanted an upscale ford priced between a mercury and a lincoln. What they ended up with was too many car choices and an ugly design
I believe this is the collection of Jim Kock in South Sacramento. He won't even allow anyone to look at the cars let alone sell any of them. Too bad they can't be saved by true Edsel lovers.
@DRZREALEST No! Deffinately not! I mean, the '59s are nice and everything but they just don't have enough of that flair and they are just a little too square... I personally think that the styling on the '58s cannot be surpassed by anything else, I mean, they're gorgeous! =)
maybe we should call the city on him, then he will have to get rid of the cars!!! Then all the paople who want them can come and get them if he sells them, if not, the city will haul them off, the yall can get them at the junk yard if yall act quick enough, trust me, ive done this before with 1957 plymouths
poor cars. as you said, if the owner sells them now, he will win a lot of money and if he waits the cars will get rusted and irestorable. hope many people buys them and treats them well.
OMG i hate seein cars like this it makes me pissed give them to someone that will use them and take care of them instead of lettin them sit there and rot : (
I doubt it. This guy is very protective and a bit eccentric. He is located in Sacramento California. Off of Florin Road. We have yet to convince him to part with any parts. Good Luck though!
Went over to take a look at these just yesterday, they're still there!! Just sitting outside (sad), some have been vandalized by having rocks thrown through the glass, (very sad). Several look to be quite restorable, but for how long????? I didn't see the owner, don't know if he will sell or not? These are all fenced in his yard, but visible from the street. Jon
are maybe one of these for sale?... who actually owns the car graveyard?, and if no one does, then is it "technically" possible to just take one car, I mean, what´s actually the policy by barn finds or car graveyards?...thanks for some answer

My dad sees this and hes like what in the world is going on there I sure would like to take a trip out west and see if the owner would sell me two 58s so that we could rebuild one and bring it back to life!!!!!!
