@steeda28 The TBI was garbage, I agree. The TPI 305 generally made equal HP to the 302, but made more torque. The only 302 that ever tested that fast was the LX notchback 5 spd. The TPI 350 tested in the 14.4 range more than once. The 305 TPI generally tested in the 15.0-15.2 range, same as the GT Mustang. The 305 TPI at it's peak made 230 HP and 300 lb/ft of torque. The TPI 350 at it's peak made 245 hp and 345 lb/ft of torque.

@steeda28 The 305's torque band was broader. The 302 was a very peaky engine. The weight wasn't different enough to be that big of a factor with the 350 vs 302. There were other intangibles that contributed to the 305 competeing with the 302. One, the transmission in the F-bodies was far superior. Not to mention the overall geometry of the chassis. I lived it too. I had several F-bodies and rarely had trouble with 302s. The only ones I was ever nervous about was the notchback LX.

I'm done with American cars. I will miss my Firebird when I sell it, GM V8s sound amazing, but they are not reliable performance cars. I'm looking at a 350Z or a S2000. I might consdier the new Camaro if they don't overprice it and actually make it handle rather than float like the "new" Challenger.
A shame but look at it like this, you got 15 years out of that firebird and whooped enough people with it as well because the LT1 is not a bad engine, hell look what I made one do in my videos, something a new ZO6 can't even do. I say hang in there and wait for the Camaro at least do yourself the favor of testing them all before you buy. 100+ horses sounds great but you forget they are also packing 800lbs more weight. Plus the SRT8 should really be compared to the GT500 money wise as they re both around the $40k mark. The stang comes out on top at that point.

ow ok yeah bro i got a bone stock 07 gt an a race a few new camaro ss's with the 6.2L an hate to tell you but there not much faster then the older mustangs man. im not going by what i read online or what i see on youtube im going by what i seen for my self in my car and at the drag strip
