Sorry guys/ladies, Clockwork Orange is an excellent book, and the film is good, but its not as good as some claim it to be. It used all of the cliches of the 70s and transferred them to the imaginary future where by most standards they look in very poor taste.
Just seems the type of masculinity applied to Alex' gange in the movie is non applicable in today's world. Maybe' it is just the times.
@StopFear I won't deny that some people overrate ACO. However, I'm confused when you say the masculinity of Alex and his droogs would not apply today. Are you implying that it was acceptable in the 1970s?
@StopFear You are missing a massive theme in the film I think. The reason Kubrick uses the 70's is because he is saying, more or less, 'what yuo see here is not the future, it's now!' Look up rob Ager and his brilliant film analysis to get a real indepth revire of several Kubrick films, including ACO. It will seriously change you the way you think about Kubrick and about films.
Godly experience. Thanx for postong this.

@hartleysr right....I was thinking I bought it sometime during the early 90's and it was a B-side. The Fly sounds about right

@hartleysr Yeah, this song could be an A side for most bands, even for U2, alhtough I reckon it wouldn't totally fit in Achtung Baby.
