Just so you know, I bought this microphone based on your review. It was very helpful, tnx. However, I encountered the problem with the mic so I am asking for help. I used mic 4-5 times with no problems and I am very satisfied with the sound quality. I tried to record yesterday and the sound was very low with a lot of noise even when I upped the levels on sound in control panel to 100%. Did the battery get depleted so fast or what? Please help.
It's actually a bit of a piece of crap. It picks up stuff way to far away... like my sister playing piano in the next room. Really, really shouldn't do that.
I don't know why camera makers spend millions of dollars on improving video quality but use cheaper and cheaper built in microphones... My HD camera is a perfect example, great video, worse audio than my old VHS-C camera from 1999.
I never cared much for video/sound quality. I don't know what all the craze is about that. Low quality only bothers me when I can't tell what the person is saying / what I'm seeing.
But good move on the new mic, I know many quality freaks out there.

It sounds great. The adapter looks like something you would plug into an amp or professional sound system if you were going to use it at a live event.
I'm thinking the on/off thing might mute it? Idk because that battery thing wouldn't make since if you can use a headset on a camera because they usually don't have batteries... I think. So maybe cameras can send power or maybe it is a mute/un-mute switch.
@mitchell11678 But it's set to OFF right now. It also sounds the same in both positions from what I could tell. AND then what would the battery be for? It's a mystery. :S

oh btw at 8:20 its for a traditional microphone, for like bands and musical groups, so you could just use that mic instead of buying another one.
