This is almost perfect but, there is too much flexion in the neck. She needs to keep her horse straight. Also, her leg is too close to the girth when kicking. The aid is to keep the leg back and kick there.... but, if it does not work, give the horse and SPUR! and responding to the message by multidressagequeen, the whole point of leg yielding is get the forelegs and the haunches over?:o
@therwea I just come out of the corner ...think diagnolly ....meaning to go straight and no neck yeilding ..don't pull the reins ....inside rein and outside leg. .use one leg and one rein to stay straight ....if the shoulder or haunches are leading ..do a few steps, go straight and then do a few more steps. This leg yeild is not perfect in the video ....but some days they are ...
that was really good!!!! i've been working very hard on leg yields in my riding lessons. i guess it's just difficult for me cause the horse i ride is tempormental haha. but i'm getting there.
very simple you just take your inside rein and pull back towards your leg tap alot wit your inside leg and keep ouitside the way it was, your horse should get the signal and wa lah leg yield
@bobbyperu182 When you pull back on youur reins towards your leg, do you pull back towards your opposite leg(outside leg), or inside leg, like straight back?? (or does it really matter, just pull back)
Some schools (notably the Spanish Riding School) believe that the leg yield is counter-productive to learning the half-pass. It may be advised, therefore, to use the leg yield exercise in moderation.
In half pass, the horse is looking and bending in the direction it is going. In leg yield, they are bent and looking away from the direction of travel (so they are basically opposites). Leg yield is asked for in USDF 1st Level tests, half pass is asked for in the higher levels.
the half pass is a bit harder then leg yield cause in the half pass the horse is bent in the direction of movement(has to look straight in front) while in the leg yield the horse is looking slightly away from the direction of movement...:):P

Half-pass is straight across while leg yield is diagonal.

Technically there is no bend in a leg yield, just slight flexion.

Gorgeous. Your horse really does need to be flexable to do it as fluently as that.
