Great music that should be used in the KOJAK movie I'd like to see done, with Vin Diesel, Nick & John Turturro, James Gandolfini, Jennifer Aniston, etc!!! The new KOJAK movie would have a killer 1970s music score - whilst the plot is set in today's NYC, a plat dealing with the contemporary issues/concerns facing the NYPD.
I was only 2 years old when this song came out, but I so remember hearing it all the time on radio station WCIN-AM in Cincinnati. Plus that, my mother had the "I Wrote a Simple Song" album and we use to dance to it. Great childhood memories.
That whole "I Wrote a Simple Song" album is absolutely essential; easily my favorite Billy Preston LP of them all. I sing songs from it in my head all the time.
Outer Space, The Bus and Turn On To Jesus were some of the records that i would listen to in the 70"s, but Billy Preston can always come up with one great hit after another.
Here's a great sounding,cool,funky-rhythm based production of the late great Billy Preston that scored for the movie"The Bus Is Coming".The movie is good, but his soundtrack is better! This is my favorite record from Billy!
The only movie scores that the late O.C.Smith sang was for the movie"Shaft's Big Score!(1972).The song "Blowin Your Mind"is not of course a title-song,but is the intro-song as the movie begins.I love that track which was produced by Gordon Parks and sang by O.C.Smith with 2 other songs for that movie.I hope my answer helps out.
A million years ago, I saw Billy Preston on something along the lines of Don Kirshner;s Rock Concert, and he performed The Bus, which brought down the house. If anyone by any stretch of the imagination has that video, please post it!
Guy i love it thanks...but if you can could you please post My country tis of thee...the last peice on thealbum....and thanks in advance ....keep posting Bro...you got the good stuff .
Thanks, that's the thing that makes this record grow on you the changes in style are put together with such class, its not an easy thing to do, mix styles like this and make it work.
Thank you all for the comments. This is one of those track that the more you here it the better it just seems to get, it has a great mix of funk Latin & soul

Any of you folks watch In Concert back in the day?
Billy Preston jammed on this tune on that show.
Also, it seemed that every other Billy Preston album would have a tune that was connected to a movie [like this] or a book.

Does anyone know the name of the song for the opening scene of this 1971 film that this song is featured on? I believe OC Smith sung it

I heard Billy Preston actually wrote this song while on the bus. Goes to show you how much talent the guy had!
