  • Patti, Patti, Patti... she is the truth! Gotta love her!

  • Well, we have to remember that at the time of this interview, this was Patti LaBelle's point of view. Whatever their differences back then, both Patti and Diana have been good, close friends for many years. We have to all remember that there was fierece competition to be on the top. This type of thing still exists today. It's just a part of being in show biz. But they are older and they have both learned from their mistakes. Patti had her share of run-ins with her group as well.

  • she wanted to pimp slap that little heffer!....ahahahahahahahaha

  • Diana Ross was always the entertainer, she did it all and many was just jealous.

You just don't have 18 number one hits for nothing. The lady has pure talent.

  • On cue, classanddignity responds with his one sided arguments. Go ahead and live a in dream world fanboy.

  • No Dip Shit, I like Patti, I Like Diana, I like Gladys, I just think you're an Asshole Umishiru,

  • Prediction: BigBear is gonna make another attempt at calling me bitter, jealous, or accuse me of being in league with Mary Wilson. Class is going to continue his one sided argument about Diana's voice like its the best thing since sliced bread.

  • I was alive to remember the heyday of Woolworth's, in fact i lived in a large city that had one of the largest stores. i remember them selling alot of things but gold lame dresses wasnt one of them. They werent a "gold lame dress" kinda store. For those who dont know Woolworth;s for all intents & purposes was a drug store. & the clothes they did sell were usually cotton or polyester & looked VERY CHEAP even for those days! So again not buying the gold lame dresses from Woolworth's story Patti!

  • @ciccocenta I think for Patti didn't mean literally Woolworth's - but a store similiarly equal in pricing to Woolworth....and who knows, where she and the ladies bought the pants suits (she didn't say dresses), in her area where she lived could have been a Woolworths & caught them on a good day. Don't take it literally, just hear what she's saying overall.

  • @ciccocenta I miss Woolworth's. Best drug store there ever was anywhere. You really could buy any little knick knack there was. And you are right, she is telling a story about buying a gold lame dress! Please! LOL!

  • @ciccocenta Besides, so many people forget or have never read that Bob Mackey and other top designers made the stage costumes for Diana Ross and the Supremes. They were hardly cheap.

  • i have a hard time believing that the "big stars" Supremes would they be "copying" off a group who's outfits came from Woolworths? Motown was always a big budget company & didnt skimp on outfits. & how could Diana have found time to go out (right before a performance!!) & buy 3 identical outfits that fit, put them on and then go on stage & perform. is she the fastest woman alive? Was there a Girl Groups Clothing store right next door to the Apollo? Sorry Patti but ur story sounds like bullsh*t.

  • Your "Opinion" amounts to shit Umishiru, Record sales tell the tale, Your Sour Grapes & Bitter Jealousy changes nothing, Patti, Gladys & Diana don't know who you are or care about what you think, all 3 have achieved more in their lives, than you could ever dream of

  • @TheReturnOfBigBear My opinion is shit? If that is true then yours must amount to worse. Your rabid fanboyism doesn't change the facts of history. Patti, Gladys, & Diana don't know who you are or are about what you think, all 3 have achieved more in their lives, than you can ever dream of. I see your still insulting people without responding to them again.Tell me are you off your meds again? Why would I be bitter? Your the one going around insulting people for their opinions.

  • Patti: "I wanted to pimp slap her."

  • Take your Meds Umishiru, People love Patti she`s talented & successful, So is Diana Ross, People buy the Music of both Women because the LIKE IT, not because of who the artist slept with, Would love to hear your opinon of Mariah Carey (NOT), Diana & Patti are BOTH Iconic Superstars, not Obscure, Forgotten, Jealous, Bitter Background Singers

  • @TheReturnOfBigBear If your going to insult me then do it so I know you did aka, with a @and my name. Your only proving how much of a coward you are. So how are you getting your dementia treated? I see you still keep on mentioning people who have no bearing on the subject.

  • A lot of Black people think that Patti is the best. She is GOOD, but only at soul music & nothing else. She could improve on her pitch & control. Diana is more versatile w/ greater appeal. Yet, Diana & Patti is the opposite of each & NOT even comparable. Although they may have changed, many Black Female singers were jealous of Diana, that includes Glady’s, for with all of that hooping & hollering they still can’t touch Diana in voice, looks, acting, class, presence, etc.for she’s too UNIQUE.

  • @classanddignity Are you crazy? Diana Ross was a second or third rate vocalist to greats like Gladys Knight or a

    Patti LaBelle.

  • @DetroitLives313 If Diana is 2nd /3rd to them, then Mary is 4th. They all have very different voices, each lacking something. However, both Patti & Glady’s have bad mouthed Diana out of JEALOUSLY. If what Patti is saying is true, then Mary & Flo did it too for they were friends; competitive against each other & others. Why single out Diana? JEALOUSY! Patti tries to out-do all females by screaming over them when it is not necessary. COMPETITIVE! If Diana is competitive, she is called a _ITCH.

  • @classanddignity Diana Ross is a joke!

  • @DetroitLives313 Patti has always been competitive. I’ve heard her sing with Dionne, Yolanda, & others to only scream over them when it's unnecessary & they responded w/looks. Black people won’t down her, for she is like them, but will judge Diana in a second. Patti is too old to sound like that with that tone about the past. THAT’S JEALOUSY. Patti has gotten to where she has by being just a competitive as Diana, as Barbara. They all have a little _tich in them, but only Diana is criticized.

  • @classanddignity Okay that was ten years ago and once again she was just explaining her feelings about past. Patti and jealousy just don't mix. Patti will give you your props but still tell the truth. When asked about the situation she tells how she feels about it, when she isn't asked about it then she will say how she now feels about Diana which is she is wonderful.

  • @QueenOldSkool Patti is not all bad, but she is competitive and likes to show off to some extent. I have watched several performances w/her & just one other artist. Patti will scream/yell over the other artist when the lyric doesn’t require that impact & it’s not appropriate. I’ve watched her do this several times & I’m not talking about a stage full of singers, just one other. There was no blend between them; which is requisite for a duet. Barbara can get loud, but she blends well w/others.

  • @classanddignity Well that's what you get out of it when you watch her perform. That doesn't mean its true. Why should she hold back just to not seem "competitive". And seriously "blend"? Have you not seen her Luther Vandross...her, Gladys, & Dionne, Her & Mariah...her, Eddie Levert, Gerald, Levert, & Tanya Blount....her & Gerald Levert alone, etc????....."Blend"???.....give me a break.

  • @classanddignity And when it comes being competitive, it's nothing wrong with that, but Patti is far from it. It sounds 2 me as if you know enough about Patti 2 make an assumption, but if you knew what you needed 2 know then you wouldn't have 2 & your comments would be a lot different. If Patti is so competitive then she wouldn't encourage people 2 sing their hearts out while on stage w/them. People have always allowed Patti 2 take over on stage so she does it when she can.

  • @classanddignity actually no. Every one of those artists you mentioned are way better than Diana. Diana got the career because she slept with Gordy and was the focus of Motown in its glory days, which means she got the most attention. Patti had to fight for her stuff because she did not have the resources Diana have, and when Gladys career finially took off she got smart and left the shit hole that is motown.

  • @Umishiru Diana got the resources because she outsold the other artists, only 2nd to the Beatles & Elvis, in the 60s in/out of Motown. Michael Masser loved to write for Diana for she could make it CROSSOVER, whereas Gladys would reach mainly the R&B Charts. Gladys & Patti have good voices, but have limits to their interpretations. Voices can be measured by many standards. They all have limitations to their voices. No, I don’t think that Diana has the best voice in the world, but neither do they.

  • @classanddignity Diana only got the career because Gordy decided to focus on her from 1964 onwards and history proves so. Its alreadly been noted that Martha Reeves had the best trained female voice at motown during that era, but Gordy's #1 for supremes top 10 for everyone else, hurt everyone else and gave Diana everything she needed. Lets stop acting like Diana was magic, otherwise her early years at Motown should be filled with hits but of course we know they aren't.

  • @Umishiru You express an old guard mentality that primarily comes from a belief that Diana was not Good enough for she didn’t possess those BLACK EPOCH STANDARDS of a good voice. Since her success, your kind has gotten those unnecessary comparisons incorporated into historical bios. The masses didn’t think that for that’s why Diana/Supremes sold. It shows how hateful a group of folks have been since history began to compare. Very few artists can sing & have the entire world love it;that’s grace.

  • @classanddignity Old guard mentality? No unlike you I do not keep a unbiased view of history. Its fact that Motown gave her attention that other didn't anyone can be successful if your the #1 focus of a major label in its prime.

  • @Umishiru Diana learned to use her voice just as Aretha before she hit it big too, although the talent is there for it had to be harnessed. At her height, Diana’s pitch was IMMACULATE & voice strong, but is delicate/thin. Patti’ voice has great RANGE/volume but her pitch is less than perfect, though better w/age, & lacks control. Gladys lacks range, but has good control. Each does feel the music in their own way. Aretha is the only black Diva who always has admired Diana vs.being hateful

  • @classanddignity Diana's voice was not some perfect thing that should be worshiped. Why is that its okay and objective to break down Patti's or Aretha voice but as soon as Diana Ross is broken down, voice and historically, you fanboys come out.

  • @Umishiru Yes, it is that old guard/narrow mentality that has always unnecessarily compared Diana to only put her down to primarily Chit’lin circuit artists, respectfully, & has followed w/the same treatment w/Diahann Carroll & similar artists w/that kind of CLASS, & unfortunately it often comes from people who look like them. It is to be expected. Early Whitney’s work/being was treated the same way by this mentality that tried to tear Diana down; yet, I am glad Diana didn’t try to placate them.

  • @classanddignity And this comment also proves how little you know how much you need to know also these artist. Diana's voice was never strong it was just soft and beautiful. And Patti has always had control. Because her voice is so big she has had to learn how to use control. Perhaps you should watch more of here live performances from the 80's and 90's and early 2000's (and even now). Read the comments of people and how they have recognized the vocal control she has.

  • @QueenOldSkool You don’t know much about voices. The songs that Diana has song, such as “Stay with Me”, “It’s My Turn”, “To Love Again”, “Reach Out”, “In the World” , “Come In From the Rain,” & etc, are “A” songs, written by top writers like Masser, & Ashford/Simpson, Manchester. To sing these types of songs, one has to have a strong quality voice. Loud doesn’t necessarily mean strong, esp. if you lose your pitch when you increase the volume.

  • @classanddignity I don't know much about voice??? I take classes on voice, okay???? And by the way those same people you have mention have written songs for Patti also, and even better & more popular writers have written her songs also. It sounds to me that you think Dianna's type of voice is the only voice that should be used and is considered "beautiful". I get you favor her more, but don't be biased

  • @QueenOldSkool If you take classes on voice, then you should know that there is such a thing called “blending”, & it only occurs when you sing with another. Singing and competing w/another clashes and messes up any interpretation. Performing and singing can be quite different also. I have listened to Patti & am aware of her. I own her work as well. She does get carried away sometimes, unnecessarily. However, she DOES HAVE a very nice voice. I would never say that she does not.

  • @classanddignity Well everything u just said was opinionated. Thats the way you hear things, many others hear it differently.

  • @QueenOldSkool Yes, Diana’s voice is soft/delicate, & high, so although she is pushing it out, it will not sound like a fat lady is singing (but a thin lady’s voice), so the skill is unassuming. Also, controlling a song & singing w/intensity is a strong voice. Yes, her voice is beautiful due to her pitch & this denotes skill. Yes, Patti has a big voice & her control has improved. Barbara has a big voice too, but can control the low/high parts. Patty is still a good singer too & paid her dues.

  • @classanddignity You mention and delicate. Patti's voice can be just as soft &delicate as Diana's, when she allows it to be. I can tell you have not heard as many songs by Patti as you have by Diana, because if you did you would not even be making these ignorant comments. It sounds to me you know the "basics" about Patti & her music. U need to listen to her Gems , Alright With Me, & I'm in Love Again albums( just to name a few). I'm sure you wont sound so ignorant as you sound.

  • @QueenOldSkool Patti is so use to trying to show off and out sing another that she even does it by herself on stage and she oversings so often that she does not even sound good often times. That’s why “A” List writers will not give her a song, for they know that she can scream a song into IRRELEVANCE. Hitting high notes and yelling is not good singing necessarily. Yet, in her own right, Patti is a Diva. If Patti would have tweaked herself in this respect, I believe she would cross over more.

  • @classanddignity "A list writers"??? LOLOLOL Do you know how stupid you sound??? Name these so-called "A" list writers and I will guarantee you they have written music for her. And like I said that's what you get out her duets with people. They obviously don't because they keep on singing with her. So you opinion doesn't matter. Oh yea in comment about "Blending" ...listen to her & Lady Gaga & her & Josh Groban...They were WONDERFUL.

  • @classanddignity And when it comes to Aretha, she is not th eonly "Diva" who ahas admired Dina. As I said before Patti has along with Gladys, Chaka, Whitney, and many more. Anyway I love her because the lady can SANG, but he only reason she probably admires Dianna is because no one has called her "The Queen Of Soul". Aretha has a bit of unhumbleness about her and gets a little offended when someone else is referred to as the " The Queen of Soul".

  • @QueenOldSkool Aretha is a real person and does possess humility too, but expresses it differently. They all have some humility. Patti expresses her humility to others (fans, etc), but not to other singers. She is presenting a persona of humility just like the others have theirs. Moreover, ARETHA has & will always be known as the QUEEN OF SOUL w/her beautiful voice. Diana has been dubbed the Queen of Soul in some foreign lands, due to her versatility/black, but she doesn't accept that.

  • @classanddignity "Aretha is a real person and does possess humility"... It that the same Aretha who got mad at Beyonce for calling Tina Turner a "Queen"?..."Patti expresses her humility to others (fans, etc), but not to other singers." Are you "fucking" serious!? Now you really sound ignorant. Patti has always shown greatfulness & humility to other singers. Watch any tribute that has been given to Patti by anyone. She makes the tribute more about them than herself.

  • @QueenOldSkool Aretha is the QUEEN OF SOUL, as Tina is the QUEEN OF ROCK. Beyonce knows that. Yes, Aretha is GRAND, & she has a right to be! Yes, Patti does want to have that broad appeal as the other divas and has tried to stretch her horizons by pairing with different mainstream singers. I do applaud her efforts. They all have evolved in their craft. I take nothing from anyone of them as I see them all in balanced way

  • @classanddignity She doesn't have the right to be upset of a name given to her by fans ^ doesn't have the right to have such an attitude like that

  • @classanddignity Whitney Houston & Patti LaBelle are the most humble singers I've have ever seen. Son don't dare say Patti has not shown humility to others singers. Patti give other singers more props than almost anybody, even if the singers suck eggs, so again don't even go there.

  • @QueenOldSkool lol whitney houston is humbled??? bahahahahahahahah #TooFunny! Whitney is 1 of the BIGGEST divas in the business! she has been rude to numerous fans over the years, and has a plenty of diva moments backstage

  • @cchllover I wasn't referring to fans, because I never have seen her interact with her fans. I was referring the way she is with other artists.

  • @QueenOldSkool Yes, there were other Divas who’ve shown Diana love. I’ve not known Gladys to be one. Yet, Aretha has always shown her love & admiration early on. Aretha has song Diana’s songs and have talked kindly about her in her early shows, even when I saw her. Even though she sings soul music, Diana has never marketed herself as a soul singer. Aretha admires Diana style, class & beautiful voice. Diana was the black Barbara for her generation, as Whitney was going to be for hers.

  • @classanddignity But anyway Like I said Patti and Dianna mad up a looooong time ago, which is why Patti helped pay tribute to her in 1995. I'm sure you have seen it but then again you probably didn't because if you did there is noway you have commented the way you have. Just look on YouTube and watch the performance; you will see the love they have for one another.

  • @QueenOldSkool Patti is like anyone else and not as nice as she comes off, but not saying that’s she not a nice person. She is accusing them of wearing the same outfits that THEY ALL purchased in a STORE, not designed. That’s petty! The Supremes back then could wear whatever they desired. She was sore that Cindy left & jealous of the Diana/Supremes success. Even though Patti may not be crazy about it, she should've been happy for Cindy, her friend, and wished her well. That’s not some St.

  • @classanddignity Wait are around her 2 seven to know how nice she is. And Patti never has tried to comes a s being the nicest person in t he world. She keeps it 100%. You wouldn't know that because you obviously don't know to much about her. And Patti had much right to be a little upset at someone who was one of her closest friends for suddenly going off without anyone knowing and joining another group. It wasn't that Patti wasn't happy for

  • @QueenOldSkool Patti has humility as all of Divas do. However, she is not some saint, as none of them. She has an ego to some degree like the rest of them (Diana, Whitney, Aretha, etc). As far as Cindy’s departure, it was always looming as she was their fill-in for Flo of the Supremes, who was unreliable. Patti was upset for they were already struggling & blamed Cindy. Cindy left a sinking ship. People do it every day.

  • @classanddignity wow how can u claim thats the reason she was upset as if you were there.

  • @classanddignity It wasn't that Patti wasn't happy for Cindy, it was just the way Cindy conducted herself. Patti has even said she didn't blame Cindy for joining the Supremes who were bigger at the time, it was just the way it was done. You need to get your thoughts and your facts straight.

  • @Umishiru The Supremes were 2nd in success in the 60’s only to Elvis/Beatles. Do you think Talent/Uniqueness probably had something to do with it, even if you don’t prefer hers. Aretha didn’t have that success then & she wasn’t w/Motown. Since the Supremes I have heard other artists cover songs by her & they didn’t do a good job as she. Berry was a businessman 1st. Sex can be gotten anywhere. It may make someone notice you, but can’t give you talent & 50 yr career, esp. a black female back then.

  • @classanddignity Another thing, Gladys and Patti do have better voices. There are no perfect voices but do go pushing to me the bullshit that Diana ever came close. And please do not act like a book quote, I know the success she had, but unlike you I understand the reasons why which go beyond voice quality and Lolstarquality and lolcrossoverappeal.

  • Comment removed

  • @Umishiru One important trademark of a good singer is control & interpretation. Although Patti has a good voice, lack interpreting music & control. It’s not all about loudness & vocal dynamics. It’s about sticking to the music & being versatile. That’s why Diana has been so successful & those writers like her. Crossing over (all cultures/races worldwide) has talent in it. That’s why everybody can’t do it. That’s an anointment too, with a different sound.

  • @classanddignity I'm sorry but have youa ctually listened to all of Patti's stuff? It seems to me that you only listen to stereotypical Patti stuff and you are judging based on that. That is like me saying Diana Ross can only do poppy stuff. Before responding to me, please actually listen to a wide range of songs, your just making yourself sound hypocritical.

  • @Umishiru For the record, I have several albums by Glady’s & Patti. That’s how I know that song. I listen to certain songs on the albums because they provide a certain feel good sound despite the technicality of the voice. You & the like are the ones who don’t appreciate diversity, not I. Everything has its place. Obviously, if you would have listened to more work by Diana, you would not have to quallify your claim later.

  • @classanddignity Since it clear you only listen to one side of a voice for Patti and others yet go out of your way to listen to a wide range of Diana's stuff. I am going to stop here and agree to disagree since I am talking to a one sided idiot. Also, criticism of Diana isn't hateful, if you actually researched history past the Internet you would understand why people do not kiss her ass. Good day.

  • @Umishiru Yes it is hateful. You & the like only single out this woman in the text books as to compare her against other black female artists, as to only put her down as though she doesn’t deserve to be successful. Furthermore, I listen to all types of music which includes opera. You & your likes are the one that has that narrow minded way, not I. It is the same hatefulness that allows Patti to speak so recklessly & pettily about another black woman, who is more successful than she.

  • @classanddignity Wait so are you saying Patti was being hateful. If so, you are wrong. Patti and Dianna are now good friends. She was explaining how she felt about that situation years ago. She has talked about this many times and has said that she and Dianna have made up since then. Patti doesn't have a bit of hate in her heart for people. And then you people are sitting here arguing as if you all were there backstage with them to see what happened.

  • @QueenOldSkool Yes, I agree that they are friendly now. However, I think jealousy & competitiveness have dissipated & evolved w/time. Also, if Diana had a part as Patti claimed, then so did the other Supremes. The Supremes were friends and were working together. Why single out Diana? I think she singled out Diana for she was the KEY to the Supremes & there was some rivalry & jealousy. Women are known to be that way w/another woman, or why say it. Typically, a man wouldn’t say that.

  • @classanddignity Well see that's what you think. You can't see inside their to know whether they were jealous of each other or not.

  • @QueenOldSkool On a lighter note, I don’t why Patti was upset about the sharing of the outfits. Everybody knows that the Supremes looked better than Labelle ANYWAY. They could have worn potato sacks and looked better than Labelle. Cindy had a beautiful voice & it was yelled over in Labelle, so she went with a group where her voice would be better utilized and her beauty would be a better fit as a lovely girl.

  • @Umishiru I stated Michael Masser because he is a good writer and has wrote for many of the greats, including Whitney. For example, look up the song “Sorry Doesn’t Always Make it Right”. Both Diana & Glady’s sings the same song.Glady’s is not out singing her. Diana’s version made the adult contemporary charts, vs. Glady’s R&B. Both are GOOD! Yet, Diana shows her versatility & can sing different types of music w/o making all about R&B when it’s not. That’s a Gift, you don’t get,but the WORLD DOES.

  • @classanddignity Sigh, you clearly are ignorant then. No one person's voice is suited to every song. Gladys have her niche and Diana has hers. Yet at the end of the day who sounds better? Gladys and Patti while it is clear that Diana's so called great voice is dieing out. Sounds like Karma is a hateful old guard bitch.

  • @Umishiru As everyone has their niche; however, I stated that Diana is more versatile & that’s why the writers like her as she makes it a hit. Love songs are her niche, as classic soul are theirs; yet she is just more versatile. There is nothing wrong with Diana’s voice; I heard her about 2 years ago & her voice is good, just as the other two. As one ages at a certain point their higher range will lower, like Diana, Aretha, & Dionne; however Glady’s always had a lower register

  • @Umishiru You said that Diana was inferior to them. If Diana is a second rate singer, Glady’s would have done the same song better than she w/o exception, but she didn’t & it’s not the only one. I don’t think that neither artist is better per se, just different. They all are respectable regardless of my preference. They all made a mark in different ways & have a style that is modeled. I am very familiar w/Patti/Gladys & an array of artists that includes opera that I own.

  • Hey you gotta respect Diana Ross because she wasn't scared. You should really read Diane Ross's biography. It talks about Labelle, and the Marvelettes, and Martha and The Vandellas and Gladys Knight and The Pips. I laughed At some of the things Diana did back in the day haha

  • Who the hell is this TheReturnOfBigBear? Has the previous troll died or something? He keeps bashing Mary where she isn't even the focus of the comments or video. Clearly he needs to get laid.

  • @Umishiru Mary Who?, was she a Bluebell?, What does she have to do with Patti?

  • @TheReturnOfBigBear You mentioned her first on here. Your the one who needs to stay on video topic rather than find a way to bash Mary. You remind me of someone on dementia. Maybe you have dementia

  • Patti blows Diana out of the water.

  • I never really liked Diana Ross, but I always loved Patti that woman can SING and whip the floor with most of the Divas, even today, but honestly Diana Ross is regard to be greater star than Patti, and have more success as in group or solo(no 1-es and sellings) and status in music, no matter cause she is not good vocalist. Love Patti ,respect Miss Ross.

  • Well Your "Fact" is Wrong, Diana was the name Typed on to her Birth Certificate March 26th 1944, It was a Clerical Error, but was NEVER changed

In YOUR OPINION Patti is a Better Singer than Diana

I don't have to Trash Patti to Defend Diana

    I like them Both

  • @TheReturnOfBigBear no it's fact, Patti Label packs a voice that Diana WILL NEVER have, only a blind Fan from Diana will deny that. and that is more pathetic than trashing either one.

  • @TarantulaCandy I like Patti & always will, I Like Diana too, I would Never trash Patti, she has a Far Stronger Vocal Range, Thats a Fact, but I still love the sound of Diana's Voice, I like what I like, I do not Live in the US, so could care less about US Culture or Crime Stats

  • A. Diana Ross WAS born Diane. It's a fact.

    B. Patti Labelle is so much better than Diana Ross vocally it's almost sad. The truth of the matter is Diana isn't most know for her vocal ability. Her voice is weak, nasally, and thin. Not too mention Patti is a much nicer person. And what reason does Patti have to lie on this video. Patti Labelle has millions of fans. She doesn't need to lie.

  • @Sucramfree16 I always get a kick out of this whole Diana /Patti "beef" Patti has given Miss Ross a public apology for these comments at Oprahs Legend's Ball.Stating that she was jealous of Diana's career achievements and the fact Cindy Birdsong ditched The Bluebells to be a Supreme...Diana and Patti are friends now,Patti's even called Diana a true legend.

  • TWTR4EVER, Her Legal Name has Always been & Remains DIANA ROSS, Family & Friends (Like Patti) are More than Welcome to call her "Diane" As President of The Yahoo "Mary Wilson" Fan Club, you & Mary may refer to her as Miss Ross, Now Hush Up you Bitter, Old, Hispanic "Stewardess from Hell", Or I'll have to give you another, Martha Reeves Vandella Style Bitch Slap, Patti moved on You & Miss Mary need to do the same

  • @TheReturnOfBigBear better to be HIspanic than Black. it's a proven fact: women are by far more liked as they are attractive, you're more likely to finish higher education, 8 out of 10 inmates in the US are black yet blacks account only for 10% of the population. YES better to be hispanic than black.

  • @SpazChat You are an idiot. Patti touches me everytime I hear her. Go blow a wolf you long lipped bitch!

  • I wish Patti would think about singing once in awhile instead of yelling all the time.

  • Diana Ross took a lot of crap for things Berry Gordy did, Patti eventually found that out, Since then Patti & Diana grew Very Close & Laugh about all this stuff now, These were the Days when Martha Reeves would Bitch Slap the Shit out of her Vandellas if she got pissed off or one of them used her Hairspray LOL!!! Those 60's Girl Groups were DANGEROUS!

  • @TheReturnOfBigBear The only danger in the 1960/70/80/90/00 HER NAME IS DIANE ROSS!

A megalomaniac self serving backstabbing conning BITCH FROM HELL, who never thought twice on trampling THE SUPREMES, her first husband Robert Silberstein who she betrayed by delivering him a BASTARD first daughter from her Pimp/Lover Motown "THE BOSS" Berry Gordy, by the 1980's she & him planned the scam on RCA Records who she took their money and came back to Motown!

DIANE ROSS = Black Priestess MEPHISTOPHELES!

  • sorry for the fast typing. should read. Congradulations! to that Awesome life! Likewise... but as your Right. the debate is squashed...

  • Anyway the beef between these two is squashed, so anyway......kids in Africa are starving:( and Bush sucks..lol

  • @LaBelleObamafan4life sorry for the fast typing. should read. Congradulations to that Awesome life! Likewise. but you are right. the beef is squashed..kids in USA are Homeless :-(..Obama for next President :-)

  • @blkshepherd floy joy just go with the flow, you seem like you're angry. =/

  • You guys needto stop all this bickering about Diana vs Patti....its so damm silly. If they were able to get past it and become friends, you all should get past it Sheesh.

  • @MisterCrazyLegs Patti has even gotten over Cindy leaving The Bluebelles for The Supremes.Cindy was the only one who could have even come close to replacing Florence Ballard.I can say that as a big Supremes fan.I really missed Flo,and it didn't seem real at first, but Cindy was able to,not forget Flo,but ease the pain.Nobody else would have done it.R.I.P.Florence.

  • @MisterCrazyLegs Thank YOu THANK YOU THANK YOU! YOU are the WINNER of this STUPID arguement about TWO LEGENDS that are FRIENDS and Respect Each Other. They are Sisters and Pioneers of Soul Music. If Patti Really didnt Like Diana Why On Earth WOuld she do a Tribute singing one of Diana's greatest No. 1 hits Opening the song with "Diana if you Need Me, Call Me" No One does a tribute to some one they dont Respect or Like. when they had the Divas Patti and Diana sent each other flowers. .

  • Yes I said it..some blacks Need to get over themselves with this Pitting each other against one another. We been doing that shit for years.

  • Folks have got to understand Patti and Diana respect each other. Diana has Never had to worry about patti or any other female..her record and the doors she opened speak for themself. Patti is Great. but so is Diana. stop the comparing.

  • I LOVE Patti LaBelle!!! She said, "I wanted to pimp smack her!" LOVE IT!!! LOl. She is soooo real that all you can do is sit back, breath her in and LOVE HER!!! There hasn't been anyone like her since her day on entering the planet under the sign of GEMENI. YOU JUST GOTTA LOVE HER!!!! LOL. Kisses to you Ms. Labelle!

  • @RodneySandersTV LoL, I know that's right.

  • Diana was a terror. She pulled the gown stunt on the Tamla-Motown tour in Great Britain and Europe, too, with the Vandellas. Martha was furious; Berry told her to calm down and told Diana to apologize and behave. I think Martha is still waiting for the apology. The few times Mary and Florence were recorded as leads Diana complained bitterly and threatened jobs. As she matured she changed and became more thoughtful and less blindingly self-centered.

  • @12464564 It's called belting. Belting is when a note is sung at a high, powerful volume. It's literally just projecting your voice. I noticed by the content on your YouTube channel that Michael Jackson is somebody you are a huge fan of. He belted in MOST of his songs, so, do you consider HIM to be a screamer? Michael Jackson's biggest musical influence was James Brown, a man who belted more than ANYBODY.

  • I like Patty Labelle yet, I don't get it when she tries too hard by screaming singing!

  • This kills me each time I see it. I truly love both Patti and Diana, so I will not take sides here. But, I think Patti is probably telling the whole truth and nothing but. i can see Diana doing everything she could to take the spotlight away from LaBelle because she know Patti could sing circles around her. Too funny.

  • @GospelAccording2ME Not about Patti singin circles. as Time has PROVED that Diana became Just as KNOWN for her Style Of flair and Dress without copy as her Unique Voice. clearly this was back in the day when they were All still in their 20s..but to say Patti singing circles around Diana.its not all about how High a note or key you can hit but interpeting a song. Both have Different Styles.there are Many Songs Not Suited for Patti's voice that Diana has sang with Eaze. its all a matter of taste.

  • @blkshepherd I totally agree! For instance, when Patti tried to tackle "It's My Turn" at a Diana tribute, I thought it was painful! Yet, Diana effortlessly delivers a flawless performance each time she sings it. You're very right.

  • @GospelAccording2ME so GLAD someone finally understand what i be trying to convey. its a difference in style .its about taste an what u like. U an i Hear differ because we are two different people..U may hear somethin in a voice thats Pleasing to your ear and like that sound . example some folks like soulful Belting like aretha, gladys knight..patti and chaka, fantasia ,Others prefer Diana, Dionne, and later Whitney With thatDelicate SilkySoul/ Pop

Sound. All 3 Crossed Over to PoP. .

  • @blkshepherd Patti sings circles around everybody, especially Diana. And just because Diana sings a song soft & without power doesn't mean she sings it with ease...just saying.

  • @LaBelleObamafan4life Patti may in Your Opinion sing circles around everybody and thats Exactly why she is NOT as HUGE as Diana Ross. overseas nor in the states. sorry. all that loud screaming and loud singing does not Make you a better singer..just saying. Thats exactly why diana has Two Stars on the Walk of Fame. A kennedy Honor. has sold More than 100 million records if patti was that great she would have Outsold diana.she has not. diana had Several Specials of her own. how many Patti have?

  • @LaBelleObamafan4life Just because diana sings soft does not mean she does not sing with Power. Patti herself admits diana with out without the Supremes is INTERNATIONALLY known..Diana has several no.1s Japan, and Europe. Patti has none. Diana has two stars on the Walk of Fame and a Kennedy Honors. Diana is in the guniess book of world records(76) has sold over 100million records. so Not bad for a soft singer without Power.

  • @LaBelleObamafan4life Further, you all need to stop with the comparisons because it makes NO Sense. and Only Blacks pit each other. Whites Never do that. Never hear Barbara against Liza Minelli..Cher against Madonna. this little petty crap about gowns is just plain silly. Several singers list Diana as an influence. and Patti herself in another view gives diana props. so jus because you can outscream everyone or sing circles Does not make you the better singer..just saying

  • @blkshepherd "...Only Blacks pit each other. Whites Never do that...." LOL Ha! That's a lie. The truth is, black or white people do that to each other all the time. "....Barbara against Liza Minelli..Cher against Madonna..." No you never hear it. Just go to some blogs. Those comparisons are made all the time. And I'm not comparing, because Diana Ross can't even get next to Patti LaBelle when it comes to vocals, so there's no need to compare.

  • @LaBelleObamafan4life A LIE is whites pitting barbara against Liza Minelli cher against madonna. Your a damn LYER..just to check your claim I jus went through several of Liza, Madonna and Cher and Saw NO mention of any white females. its ONLY BLACKS.. the truth hurts we do that SHIT all the time..so dont even try to come at me with that bullshit. I have watch and read several blogs on Madonna and cher is not mentioned.

  • @blkshepherd Yea sure u took the time to go through all their videos, and by the Youtube isn't the only place people comment and make comparisons. And I know about those artist so I am not a liar. You just don't wanna believe that somthin ur saying isn't true. Get a life!

  • @LaBelleObamafan4life Actually I have a WONDERFUL Life and so does Diana and Patti. and they Certainly AINT waisting their lives worring about Petty stuff of the past or Dianas woes. we all got them your Not Perfect yourself so lets not throw stones at Diana. I know the truth hearts but it is what it is. we blacks tear each other down bad more so than any other race. anyway Diana and Patti are Friends Now. and Love and Respect each. perhaps you may need to find a life.

  • @blkshepherd I have an awesome life. Don't be offended because I say what I feel. I actually like Diana, just not some the ways she use to have, so I'm not throwing stones just telling the truth.

  • @LaBelleObamafan4life congadulations to your awesome life, likewise. and key word ".some of the ways she "Used" to have." that would be past pretense.Past. and as for the Truth. wouldnt that be left up to our Creator? Diana's Patti, yours and Mine.He made us all. Let Him bring out and expose the truth. We all got things that we Did in the past..that werent Cool. but dont have to be brought up time and time and time again. And your right throwing stones while living in a Glass house is Risky.

  • @GospelAccording2ME Diana dosent need to get next to Patti..Patti is No where Near Diana. so yes Too Funny. Why do you Think Patti did a Tribute to Diana. its really Hilarous because Patti is Not a Bigger Star then Diana and Never will be. Funny there have Been Several Tributes to Diana and the Supremes. Sparkle, Dreamgirls..but NONE on Patti for all her Circles she sings. funny but True. Patti is Not on the Same Plane as diana..actually not even the same airport.

  • @GospelAccording2ME FURTHER, Patti had 45 Years to Get to where Diana has been and still is. she hasent. 18 No.1 Pop..the Pop chart was Before R&B. but I am going to end it here. I am not gonna go back and forth about Diana and Patti..both women made their mark and are in the history books but you will Find Diana listed more than Patti. or Labelle. sorry. and Again. BLACKS DO PIT BLACKS against each other more than whites..end of discussion I will not respond further.

  • Jesus, Patti doesn't age!

  • I saw The Supremes wearing that gold outfit in 1967.It was in February before Florence left.

  • Comment removed

  • PATTI SAID WE ONLY HAD THAT ONE GOLD OUTFIT

  • Patti is hilarious!!

  • I knew Diana Ross was a little mean , I was looking for this video for the longest

thanks for posting this so glad.....Go Patti all the way

  • @TheMotownManiac, ,When did Patti LaBelle ever say that she made this up???. .She and Diana Made PeaCe way before the OPRAH Legends ball thingy. . .And they did hug and all that,buT she never said that she made up this?. . .Or did she tell you alone!.Cause I don't Know bout it!

  • LOL PATTI A GANGSTA ...LOW KEY...HEE HEE

  • I wouldn't doubt this at all... Because Diana stepped on alot of people to get to the top..

  • I love Diana Ross but she was very devious in her younger days.....she did the same thing to Martha Reeves & the Vandellas and Martha was gonna beat her ass but Flo stopped her...(stealing another divas dress is asking for trouble) but Berry Gordy alwayz gave her whatever she wanted anyway

  • I love Patti but c'mon people! Think about it! Diana watched what Patti and her girls were wearing,THEN managed to run out and buy the SAME outfits, try them on, get back to the theatre and be ready in time to go on stage BEFORE Patti?? If The Supremes were "the big stars" like Patti says, then Diana & the girls would have been on the bill AFTER Patti! Not only that, but Diana just happened to know where they had the outfits from them from? OH PUURLEEASE PATTI! It just doesn't make sense at all!

  • Patti Labelle Aint Scared of no Heffa. .

  • Patti should have made Flo a part of the Bluebells for payback. lol

  • I like Patty's voice, but love diana's voice. If i had a choice between the 2 to attend a concert diana would win hands down. Why would anyone get angry at anyone for trying to improve on themself.

  • @jazzscherzo That would have been something, but my girl Flo would have nailed Patti's ass to the wall.

  • Patti, pimp slapping Diana?

*Stomp Stomp Stomp* Florence - "BITCH, Get the hell off my friend!!"

See Diana and Florence in the early years were friends. In away they always were.

  • patty wanted to pimp slap diana ross and beat her up....LoL

  • The top female group in the world, Patti. The world!!!! I hardly think that you or your group are or ever were "COMPETITION" for DIANA ROSS and The Supremes. I mean, I like ya, but you ain't no Diana Ross . And The Blue Bells? Come on, folk. Don't be diculous.

  • @crut5 Absolutely right. Double amen.

  • I know some people call her vocals "screaming" - but Ms. Patti can sing her ass off and does not need a microphone! Now I have always thought that Diana was weak - and I have never been impressed with her voice. Patti will wear you out baby! Diana's old tired voice puts me to sleep! She would make a great 900 line caller!

  • @jazzscherzo Ditto

  • I love Sarah Dash, but honestly, i could not see Cindy with Patti, Nona and Sarah as labelle, Cindy wouldnt have fit in

  • @crut5 wel i thInk She meant it diffrently Then what u ThINKING. .They Went 2 get the same outfit but it wasnt exactly the same it was better. .

  • I never understood why she would only single out Diana. Mary & Flo were also there for everything that happened. Diana didn't force Mary & Flo to wear the outfits. Yet she singles out Diana. She clearly felt some type of way about Ms. Ross. Smh.

  • @nippy8589 Patti said herself that she never forgave Diana Ross for stealing Cindy Birdsong. According to Patti, "I was mad at Diana Ross for many, many years. One night we went to perform and Cindy Birdsong's behind was all up in Detroit! Diana Ross called her to take Florence Ballard's place without telling me first. So of course I was angry with Miss Ross." She forgave Cindy one year later. 6 years ago Patti and Diana made up thanks in part to Oprah. Now they are good friends.

  • @nippy8589 Well Patti LaBelle and Mary Wilson are good friends. Patti even sang at Mary's son's funeral. The way it was written, it was Diana Ross' idea to do that. Diana also had a habit of watching the other Motown Acts on the Motortown Revue and then copy some of their best stage bits. She did that to Smokey Robinson as well.

  • @DetroitLives313 And Diana and Smokey are still best friends 50 years later. Like Smokey said, "The story of The Supremes would have been the same with Diane and any two girls."

  • Ok. The Supremes were " the big stars" according to Patti . The Supremes wore custom outfits after they became "big stars" and they had people who shopped for them, to boot. Then why would they wear or even want some cheap junk from Woolworths?? They were looooong past their Woolworth and junk clothing days. C'mon, people! Use yo brains!!!!

  • @crut5 --Patti was THE COMPETITION!! :) That's why the Supremes changed the order and went before her.

  • @crut5 I have a picture of Flo, Mary and Diana wearing the outfits that Patti LaBelles describes in this clip. They in their dressing room posed for a picture with Little Richard and another guy wearing the stretch pants suits with matching tops.

  • @DetroitLives313 I doubt it, since it didn't happen. The Supremes were big stars and buying crap clothes from Woolworths on a moment's notice to copy Patti? Get a grip! Patti has publicly apologized for trash talking Miss Ross and making this story up and they are good friends now. You don't have any pic of this, if so, post it!

  • I'm not really familiar with Patti Labelle, so I must say I never expected her to use the phrases "heifer" and "pimp slap her." Yet I think her incredibly awesome for doing so. : )

  • CONTINUE TO SPEAK THE TRUTH PATTI EVEN WHEN IT HURTS!!!
