Think of this as a Cutscene! 2 NPC's fighting, No actual Players. a little event to entertain the people watching, who are actual players, say in between battles or events. From what i can understand, Benny is a shopkeeper, maybe local magic vendor of some kind, and "The Dark One" is a Boss/higher end NPC from somewhere who is looking for a Girl, and also their to collect something.

I was thinking it would be fun to have taken the idea to a park field with cousins, and making up all this stuff to the game. Then I just wondered if there was a theme park or if other people o this earth had something going already. I'm surprised to see it.
i'm surprised the camera could withstand the force of such magical powers being cast about. the shear electro-magnetic disruptions caused should be enough to destroy any photograph equipment. =D
This is why American larp is so lame: The "GAME STOP" that happens in the middle of the game - Everyone is so fixed on rules, that the game lose its soul.
In Denmark we play with no gamestops, and no rule problems. GM's play ingame characters as everyone else, so they dont ruin the illusion, but are still able to help if there is any problems
To take this guy out I would first cast RANK 1 STRANGULATE on him then have my friend cast RANK 8 MORTAL STRIKE followed by RANK 1 BLADESTORM while I pop all my CDs
Advanced effects... reflections, absorptions, damage reduction, ways to bypass damage reduction and all that are fine for video games... but not larps.
That's why I stick with Savage... A hit's a hit. Fights are real time... there's some magic, but it's a much smaller aspect, and people generally don't "spam spells" like that. It's a LOT less math.
LOL, that was some pretty good roleplaying on the part of the evil dude! I kind of like the intellectual side of larping, but I myself prefer swords and axes. Those one use only wands were pretty cool though, we don't use those at my larp.

Most LARP combat just isn't... brutal enough to make the fantasy believable. Larping World of Darkness and being body checked into a marble counter after breaking into a demon's house? i like to larp cause when my friend showed me one day he gave me his 2nd sword and we battled out in the garden it was amusing so i started larping in real life games getting some arming and kicking the crap out of people. but how do you expect to attract more people to these type of games if there's no action. ppl want action
We fight with swords as well. This is just one magical combat not an over all view of the game. It's taken out of context of a larger game that was going on where there were indeed lots of swords, pole arms and bows with the action you speak of.
Not all LARPing is about your sword arm, sometimes it's about your role-playing, or spell casting or how you can out wit your enemy. The best games are the ones that include all those aspects, fighting included.
This is a magical combat between two NPCs where each is trying to defeat the other with spells, not swords. So this is not the usual combat with swords. Fantasy worlds contain both and this just shows the other side of it.

Like does anyone ever go "I kind of feel silly"? Sometimes it seems it would be hard to separate the reality and the fantasy during a battle, like one guy would say "I killed you" and the other guy would contest it. But I guess all is fair if everyone knows the rules.
this isnt what all larping is like, this is more hardcore, bt my ppl in particular just get drunk get in costume and smack each other with swords maces and axes, all props of course. but yea thats to hardcore for me man
