Joe Walsh's solo albums are amazing. talk about bringing yourself back to those easy days of the early 70's when there was so much less to worry about. disco is right...Barnstorm is a fantastic record. i used to have them all, including the james gang and ended up listening to them more than the eagles albums. thanks for posting. i think this is the best song on the album
An Essential Guide To Music In The 1970s features assessment of classic albums from Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Elton John, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Pink Floyd, the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Kate Bush, and Blondie. There is also special coverage of 120 special songs from this memorable decade. In addition, there are highlights of each year’s sporting events and major news stories and deaths.
This album is an epic concept album. There are contributions by every member and not a wasted track, just "Wasted Time." Sorry, I couldn't help myself with the last phrase.
As time moves forward, life gets harder and more interesting. Our relationships with the people we love become more complicated. In our youth, we invest in fantasies. We have lofty expectations. And so disillusionment is inevitable. "Wishing well fools with their fortunes" are those who can't let go of the illusions they grew up believing in.
Eventually, you learn to simply do what you must, thus becoming an adult. Which is what this song is about. Pretty Maids All in a Row. A life in order.
@drlarrymitchell I like what you say...yet I think this is just about the melancholy we feel about love not resolved when we were younger. Regardless...I think the important thing is we have a fist-fight to address our different opinions... :) All the best! Great song, isn't it?
A Woman I Might Fight For In Trying To Save Her Knowing..(as myself!)....but I like Ashley Judd..Be My Attorney!..All'...Pretty Maids In A Row!..Hollywood..The Queendom of Heaven yeah...Thanks for helping me to understand ok Princess Grace and perhaps Princess Diana! but not for any woman to die a tragic and suffering death!
Joe "saved" the Eagles... not they needed 'saving"... but seriously. When Joe joined the Eagles acheived EPIC greatness.
Not just one of a hundred bands... this album is as important as Revolver, Dark Side Of The Moon, Zeppelin IV, Let It Bleed, Who's Next, Fragile, Dreamboat Annie, Billion Dollar Babies, Ziggy Stardust, London Calling, Ten, Nevermind, Badmotorfinger, Dirt, Pisces Aquarius Capricorn and Jones, Pet Sounds, Aoxomoxoa, Made In Japan, etc. (Couple of odd ones in there, huh !)
sad but true. they could've had a chance, but shit, firing felder was/is an asinine thing to do. over money, no less. i love you, joe, but you could'nt even stick up for the guy who got you to rehab. fucking sad, dude.
Thanks for posting. It's great to see some of the "banned" tracks from a great album getting slapped up to the TOOB again. (Shame on you Warner / Elektra / Asylum...)
Has to be one of my favorite songs Eagles/Joe Walsh.

To those people saying it's "The Eagles", it isn't. It's just "Eagles". Or do I need to post a link to Wikipedia to prove my point?

@mezzetin1 I am not sure if Felder is the one who got him into rehab it might have been Ringo. But i am sure Don supported him the whole way.

Find a photo of a guy wearing goggles and put Joe Walsh in the title and you will have this just right.
The Eagles was at the top of their game and then Walsh entered and a whole new level was reached.
