  • lol a "rally"! lord almighty, after all these years I finally know what she really meant to say.. hahahaha!

  • honest john is such a raisist sterio type..but I love him for it

  • I WILL WELEASE....WODRICK!

  • Honest John: Good man....mouse....whatever

  • He tried to touch her bosom!!

    (shameful)...

  • The difference between witch and poor.

  • 1:54 >:D

  • 1:37 LOL! What is with her words?!

  • We all miss you miss Kahn :-(

  • finally a movie with sense

  • We are forgetting the real victim here: Mickey O'Hare has been coerced into voting unlawfully!

  • "I have dedicated my wife"

Lesbian mice? Yeah, speech impediment, I know, but I couldn't resist.

  • @unknown234 Hahaha I thought the same thing!!! :D

  • 1:53 XD it's amazing what went pass my head as a child

  • Someone is getting a little too frisky @ 1:53

  • oh madeline khan. gone before her time

  • @2pacbiggie4334 There's a dead mouse on that table xD

  • @ChewbaccaTheMustafa

Especially whiskey. That stuff can drop you on your ass faster and more easily than most of the other forms of liquor.

  • wawwy LOL

  • Madeline Kahn for the win.

  • would you care for a we drop of the creature!!! lol

  • @ChewbaccaTheMustafa Yeah, and then there's "Money is not evewything...I know, because I have money and I have evewything..."

  • I remember when I was young, I really didn't understand what exactly was going on in this scene...all I knew was that mouse was dead. But I guess since I'm older now, I actually understand the stories (and jokes) of some the old animated movies I watched as a young child.

  • I know the feeling. I never noticed a lot of the stuff I noticed now, then. I never even noticed boobfeather!

  • Ain't that the way it usually goes? Especially if it's a movie you watched with your parents and didn't understand why they laughed at a certain part and then you see it when you're older you're like "oh...oh!" lol

  • @shortandsweetable OH yeah, I know just what you mean. A little thing of mine is to go back on all those old films from your childhood and watching them again. I found that I had An American Tail on VHS today! So I went back and watched it. Amazing how much I remembered!

  • i totally forgot this part, its hysterical!!!!!! :D i love this movie!!!! :)

  • 7____7 . . . the alcohol burned through the floor . . .

  • Why is there no comments about 1:49?

  • Because we fear?

I'm more curious on the origin of that sound right before she slams the door shut in the end ._.

  • lol, true.

  • To this day, I'll still say "wawwy" on occasion. Most people don't get what I'm getting at... but ah well. Great scene.

  • Madeline Kahn! <3

  • hahah i love how hes like boss tweed. and i love all of the cultural refernces

  • so funny

  • I swear that Honest John is based off an actual Irish political figure at the time who would write in "ghost votes" of the dead to support his campaign. Didn't the guy in "Gangs of New York" do the same thing?

anyway, wow this scene is so much more meaningful as an adult; I finally pick up on the classist views being said. I think all I was really interested in as a kid was watching the liquid sizzle holes through the floor as it was poured into his glass, lol.

  • tony :D

  • Forgery!!

  • OMG she talks like Elmer Fudd.

  • It's funny.

  • I never realized how lecherous "Honest" John was watching this as a kid. I love it when animators put in items that adults will get but kids don't always.

  • What is "Honest John"?

  • well he certainly ain't that honest.

  • I love this lady!

  • That little girl trying to get Honest John's booze at 1:40 is too cute :)

  • she seems a bit old though.

  • Why can't kids movies today have decent storylines and characters such as this?

  • Because all the producers care about is money, they'll produce any old rubbish and expect us to like it. I want more movies like An American tail!

  • @Natikle people feel they need to protect their children to such an excessivement now a days that they end up missing out on really great things including this.

  • @Natikle

Because this was picked right out the history books. I mean some added flare and color were painted here and there to cover some the nastier parts, but that's raw late 1800's New York right there.

  • HAHAHA!

    Love this part!

  • ahh, old childrens movies. corpses, alcohal, death, smokes, sexual themes and drunks. The ones of today need to liven up

  • I'll drink to that! *hic!* =D

  • Yeah, I wish today's kids would be raised well enough and be brave enough to mature faster mentally and psychologically like we did when we were kids.

  • its some strong stuff honest john is drinking i mean its burning holes in the floor and by the way ( a wawwy ) its cracking me up every time

  • I'm down for "a wee drop of the creature"

  • These scene just went over every kid's heads.

The irony that Honest John isn't. Amnd the hypocrisy of Gussy Mouseheimer.

    It's very subtle.

  • "There's a dead mouse on that table!"

  • "That's what I said! ...a wawwy!"

LOL, I remember that from like 20yrs ago. Amazing that this movie's been out even longer than that!

It's worth noting that its success was a smash breakthrough for feature-length animation--- and wouldn't be outdone until "The Little Mermaid", three years later. Some say this film is responsible for spurring the Disney summer blockbusters of the '90s.

Also, its in-house successor "The Land Before Time" did extremely well as well.

  • I used to love this movie. one of the movies that made me want to go to NYC.

so full of history! and Madeline Khan is so hilarious.

  • oh and Brigitte is hot

  • the movie was full of so much history... and no one noticed.

  • Not only that, but a TON of religious symbolism-- for both Judaism and Christianity.

  • That's Madeline Khan OMG, she is so cool here. I almost didn't catch it.

  • This is so much funnier than i remember!

I used to love this as a kid!

  • Lol! I used to act like Honest John! I would pour my soda into the bottle cap and sip it! XDD

    I LOVE this movie.

  • honest john was funny as hell

  • she sounds like elmer fudd lol

  • Lol, the liquor burns holes in the floor when they spill it xD

  • Actually, the voice is based on Madeline Kahn's character from Blazing Saddles.

  • It IS Madeline Kahn! :P

  • I think that they modeled her after Barbra Walters.
