Unfortunately, my parents left me land in undeveloped barren deserts of Colorado where there's not a house in sight. What in the world can I begin to do with such a wasteland! There's nothing out there! No water, electricity, and just sandy access roads!
I like the last thing he was talking about the younger generation is getting into this more and more. People are waking up and figuring out that a college degree is not going to get you a great job and that living off the grid is becoming cheaper and cheaper to do. I see more and more people heading in the direction of this lifestyle as cities become over crowded with unemployed people.
There is nothing wrong with the environment. The Earth will reclaim what what it needs over time. This guy said its about spirituality and independence, and he's right.
@FreedomForYouAndMe true independence can only occur if we can live without relying on anything! But we know this is impossible unless you can go on living without food, clothing, shelter. We MUST depend on the EARTH, EARTH is our lifeline! without EARTH to sustain us! we are screwed! Ofcourse EArth can recycle us like the old ancient ruins, but do we want to be recycled before our time? Don't we want our children to have the same if not better quality of life on this earth?
@FreedomForYouAndMe If so, then we'd sure as heck better find a way to live harmoniously with EARTH! as the saying goes, "Don't bite the hand that feeds you."

This guy gets it- it's not so much about the environment as it is about independence and freedom from want
