Hi there. I've never in my life dyed my hair. I've been thinking about doing it, but i'm wondering if it's too soon. I really dont' want my hair getting damaged in any way. This month will make a year since i've been loc'ing. My ends aren't loc'd up properly yet. I don't even know the difference between dyes, rinse or whatever else. I want just all the tips or a a few entire ones dyed in like a brownish colour.

bleach is permanent. there's no way to go back after that. but the colors i used in the past were semi permanent, so after a few weeks the color would fade and then my locs would just be blonde. if you want to go back to your natural color, you'll have to dye it back.

Im not sure if I fully understand of dying hair green. Say if I have black hair. Can I use a really light green for it to show or should I bleach it first? And how long should I wait ti dye it?

if your hair is black, you have to bleach it before adding color. otherwise the color won't show up. i'm not a professional so i'd suggest seeing a colorist to make sure you don't damage your hair and wait enough time to add color. best of luck!

is it true you can die your hair with house hold hydrogen peroxide 3%???. I did some research about that, and they said the content that peroxide can dye hair is 6%-12% but they dont sell that in stores due to hazard safety. what are your thoughts about this????....

i believe you can but i stopped dying my hair bc it was damaging it and making my locks thin. when you dye your own hair you run the risk of screwing it up. i would stay away from using peroxide.

i didn't just dye the tips. i dyed the entire loc, but my hair has grown out so much that now only part of it is dyed. i've always done my hair myself since going natural.

just bleach the ends and then add the dye to the bleached hair. you can also use foil to isolate where you apply the dye.

bleaching is permanent. hence why i still have some blondeish brown locks. the colors i used were semi permanent so they faded after a few washings.

thank you thank you! it's so weird for me to hear people say they envy my length since i was the same way for so long! i thought my hair would never grow. just hang in there and it'll happen in no time. after about 2 years, your hair will start to grow like crazy. i was told that by people with locks when i first started and after the 2 year mark it was totally true.
