  • leslie is and will always be a superstar--made some great emotional films--thanks for posting this tribute..

  • There is a dream ballet sequence in "Lili"

where 'One Is A Lonely Number' is played. If you have it, might you post it also.

I recall the Mantovani music you are playing from the 1950s. At one time in the 50s, this kind of music was very popular and played on the radio along with Elvis, country and rock music. The Eclectic 50s.

  • @Glinkaism1 I haven't got that particular music track and a search has found nothing under that title. I am in the process of producing a second tribute to the lovely Leslie Caron and I have lots of suitable music that should be appropriate. Thank you for your interest and I hope you continue to enjoy 'Movie Legends'.

  • @basilnelson Oh Hi! Or better yet, Hi Lili Hi Lo! :) This particular piece of music, "One Is A Lonely Number" is a dream-like ballet sequence in the movie "Lili." It was marvelously orchestrated.

The short answer is to look for it in the movie. :) Did you happen to download the entire movie in segments on youtube? If so, then it can be found.

I surely don't expect you to find this needle in a haystack. It is just a lovely song. I was 15 years old in 1953 when that movie came out. Cheers!

  • @basilnelson Thanks & cheers!

  • Leslie's mother was American and her father was French.

  • Leslie Caron had this weekend to celebrate a special birthday

    - In gratitude, we will always remember her beautiful roles and their dance performances - Our best birthday greetings and wishes for their future :)

  • She has a restaurant at Villeneuve-sur-Yonne.

  • Two women that are unsurpassed for beauty and warmth are Leslie Caron and France Nuyen. Time rolls on,many come and go but the camera has captured an unusual something about these two that has more depth than a mere photograph.

  • I wish she was my sister.

  • Now with Jean Simmons' sad passing, she and Elizabeth Taylor are among the very few true stars from Hollywood's Golden Age still with us. Thank you for posting this lovely tribute. I hope she's never forgotten as she is the essence of class and style. Today's petulant 'personalities' could learn a lot by studying her. Her performance in 'Lili' is pure bliss.

  • Exquisitely pretty! She's a cross between a chic gamine and an elegant aristocrat. Truly an unforgettable lady. Thanks for sharing.

  • She is the most beautiful woman that I have ever seen. I would fall in love with her in a heart beat ... even today.

    Wow!

  • She and Gene Kelly were magical....

  • She is a wonderful person with a very special talent. I love movies like Cinderella and Lili because of the loveley Leslie. But I don`t like her with blond hair!

All the best for you Mrs Caron !!!

  • Sorry. Not a hill, but an inn.

  • Nice woman. She owns a hill in Burgundy, now, in Villeneuve sur Yonne; La lucarne aux chouettes.

  • Oh, my beloved Leslie Caron!

Great video and fantastic music. She deserves each and every tribute. I love her.

  • Suspected she was French: thanks for confirming it. Nice film clips in this video.

  • What a beautiful song this is set to! Might I ask its title?

    P.S. I love Leslie Caron...particularily in GIGI!

  • July 1st. Happy Birthday Ms. Caron.

  • She is so beautiful in these photos

  • I have always found myself so mesmerized by Leslie. Even as late in her carreer as Chocolat managed to enchant and mesmerize me.

    thanx basil

  • Excuse me if i'm being rude for commenting, my friends cousin is lucky for having such a wonderful aunt.

  • She's a magical-sublime creature. I adore her.

  • Leslie Caron was and still is fantastic! What is the name of the instrumental song?

  • The soundtrack is two edited pieces titled 'Spring on Montmartre' and 'Gigi'.

  • As an afterthought, I have to comment that this music is perfection with Leslie's retrospective!

    Magnifique!

  • Wonderful tribute to the lovely Ms. Caron!

  • She is 77 years of age and was last known to be living in Wisconsin USA

  • I love how this music fits her so well! Great tribute.

  • more father goose,please!!

she was beautiful in that movie...

  • Thank you so much for the best Leslie Caron tribute ever. She appeared at a time when big boobs, gaudy clothing, and platinum hair were popular. By contrast, she is slim, elegant, highly talented, and very beautiful. I know, because in 1955, at the age of fifteen, I fell madly in love with her. I'm getting old now but I still love to watch her films and dream those young man dreams.

  • Leslie Caron will be at the Aero Theater 10/12 and will talk about Lili. That's in Santa Monica California

  • Lovely Lovely Girl* with a just as lovely smile and charm. Leslie was that soda fountain girl that stole men,s hearts away.

And yet a Beauty that spoke for its self

    on screen.

A nice French Touch to anybodies reality.

    Excellent

    Pierre

  • Wow! Leslie Caron with short hair, looks like a beautiful young man {but without the divine equipment}.

  • What a talent....Great Music too.....

  • What a beautiful tribute to my favorite MGM gamine, Leslie Caron! She is so under appreciated, and I think she's much more talented than people give her credit for. My favorite films of hers are "Lili" and "Gigi". Thanks for posting!

  • This is beautiful . Thanks for sharing ! :)
