Ol' Archie Gouldie! I was just a kid at the time and he scared me. I was scared that he would piledrive me because on TV he pointed at the camera and said he would do that!
April 12, 1981 (Sunday) Atlanta, GA Omni Coliseum [P] (Paul Jones (01) Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > Steve Keirn over the French Angel (02) > Roberto Soto over Gypsy Joe (02) > Robert Gibson over Jim Duggan > Tony Atlas versus the Mongolian Stomper ended in a no contest > Ole Anderson & Gene Anderson and Mr. Wrestling #2 (01) & the Masked Superstar went to a draw > National Heavyweight Title Match: Steve Olsonoski* over Bobby Eaton >
Tommy Rich & the Junkyard Dog over the Freebirds (01) (Terry Gordy & Buddy Roberts) > Texas Bullrope Match: Dusty Rhodes over Don Carson / Notes: Eaton substituted for Dick Slater in the match against Olsonoski. Carson managed the Stomper. The Stomper was in Carsons corner during the match against Rhodes. Michael Hayes was in the Freebirds corner during the match against Rich and the Dog.
I am amazed about how wrestlers sold the airplane spin as a finishing manuver. I remember Rotundo using the same thing. It was just unbelievable to me.
Steve who? don who? I'm kidding before everyone.starts crying lol

Wow, Steve O champion !? The only memory I have of this guy is that he was the referee for the Flair/Magnum match at AWA Superclash 85 lol.

What kind of finishing maneuver is the airplane spin? I mean, get real. Stomper was getting ready to leave the area.

Good post. That was considered an upset as no one expected Steve O to win the National Heavyweight Title from someone like The Mongolian Stomper.

I wish someone had some footage of Steve O and Ted DiBiase's feud against The Freebirds.
