Kelly C has a mid-range raspy tho' non-resonant voice which is very demanding on a noise sensitive ear of a listener who can take only so much of that. I have found this with most of Kelly C's songs.. glad to hear her sing but gladder when she is done. But was it due to her usual song choice perhaps? Kelly C's voice is better suited to this song than anything I've heard her sing before. Indeed, Kelly's rendition here outshines Aretha F's. You can actually HEAR the words when Kelly sings.:)

Carrie may have made a lot of money and does have quite a powerhouse voice, but she is just mediocre. I've heard at least 20 country singers whom sound like her in my hometown. She's slightly above average, but when I heard Kelly Clarkson on American Idol, I couldn't believe my ear, because her talent is just extraordinary. Watch any of her performances, and if you have any musical knowledge, will hear the depths of her talent.
