@Greatbloke We use reason and evidence up to the point at which it doesn't work any more. There are things that our beyond our reasoning skills. It doesn't have to be 'magical' or whatever. As long as it is beyond the understanding of man, it makes sense that many people will call it God.

When a primitive person didn't understand the cause of something such as a thunderstorm he would say that "god did it", as he didn't understand, "scientific method". The way I see it,our knowledge is advancing all the time and as the gaps in our knowledge close, the god gets smaller.. Why not call things that are currently "beyond our understanding'; "not yet fully understood"?

When I say I believe in God, it is because I have found God on my own. If I say something is scientifically proven, it is because I have seen it with my own eyes. Scientists can say they know something, but until I understand that science, I cannot know it. I can only believe what they say. I keep an open mind always.

During the holocaust, Pope Pius XII was the leader of the church. He refused to join the resolution of the allies (allied group that condemned nazi crimes) and he never spoke out against Hitler. Commandment # 6 "thaou sahll not murder". is the death of 6 million Jews not classified as murder? Looks like an interesting movie. As for religions being sort of responsible for a lot of fucked up shit that went down in history, I think that ignorance and intolerance is to blame. This was a great and moving trailor but I really feel like the last line about "the space between us" is a huge cop out ! It's the perfect place for us to try to create a god for ourselves one that can be molded fit our own lifestyle (a convienient one) rather than the God he really is.

I think that were missing the point of this movie. It doesn't matter the actual shape or appearance of God. There is not point in arguing what he actually is. The idea that must be focused on by man is: What does God stand for? When it gets down to it God only should symbolize one thing... love. Even if your an atheist you can say that the highest power that is tangible by man is love. Whether its love for a neighbor, family member, or lover; its all the most powerful emotion in the world.
I think that hate is definitely a powerful emotion but that isn't the message of this movie. The idea of God is not intended to be a negative one. However I am not saying that God and religion are a perfectly good thing. God can be an idea the unites as well as divides. The divisions between people are what cause major problems. My view is a hybrid of evolution and creationism. While evolution, as a theory, seems to be a reasonably valid claim, it does have some major problems, such as having no discernable beginning. Similarly, I know the world was not created in 6 literal days, but that does not exclude the possibility that the origins of the universe rest with God.

To me God is omnipresent, immutable and lovely. He lives in everything and will always be. Once a personal relation ship is developed religion is thrown out the window. I love God because he loves me when I didn't think I was good enough :,)

During the holocaust, Pope Pius XII was the leader of the church. He refused to join the resolution of the allies (allied group that condemned nazi crimes) and he never spoke out against Hitler. Commandment # 6 "thaou sahll not murder". is the death of 6 million Jews not classified as murder? The curch was highly influential then and Pius could have easily spoken out OR wasn't it his responsibility?But i thought humans got their morals from the bible?Even Gods representative on earth is a coward

I think that were missing the point of this movie. It doesn't matter the actual shape or appearance of God. There is not point in arguing what he actually is. The idea that must be focused on by man is: What does God stand for? When it gets down to it God only should symbolize one thing... love. Even if your an atheist you can say that the highest power that is tangible by man is love. Whether its love for a neighbor, family member, or lover; its all the most powerful emotion in the world.

I think that hate is definitely a powerful emotion but that isn't the message of this movie. The idea of God is not intended to be a negative one. However I am not saying that God and religion are a perfectly good thing. God can be an idea the unites as well as divides. The divisions between people are what cause major problems. And another message in this movie is that we need to put aside our differences in order to get along... wishful thinking i guess haha.

My view is a hybrid of evolution and creationism. While evolution, as a theory, seems to be a reasonably valid claim, it does have some major problems, such as having no discernable beginning. Similarly, I know the world was not created in 6 literal days, but that does not exclude the possibility that the origins of the universe rest with God.
And, sir, I must comment on your bad attitude. There is a difference between pointing out a flaw in an argument and calling someone stupid.

actually, this IS the place to debate such things, Jalanko. What I want to know is... why ask movie stars what they think? God to me is the Creator of all things. I surely don't know his/her purpose, esp when there is such suffering, but if i had to guess, there is an afterlife and a divine plan for us all, and all suffering leads to lessons learned, and when it's over, we will have thanked God for those lessons.
