    greetings!

    from Philippines!!

  • what about tús ?

  • @41cookiesbabe

    "tús" doesn't exist...

    "tu" / "tus" mean "your"

"tus" is "your" when talking about more than one thing:

    tu amigo = your friend

    Tus amigos = your friends

  • @41cookiesbabe Okay ,Thanks!

  • I would like to know if there is a Big difference between Spanish of Spain and Spanish of Central America ??

Will I be understood in Spain if I were speaking the Spanish of Central America ?

  • You just good. Way to go!! Learning all the way with you. Only hope you cover all essential areas. !!Muchas gracias!!

  • Again I find your videos helpful! I don't find it necessary for those to criticize and use frases descorteses como "find it retarded..." necesarias - lets be mature here and see the value in the entire video! Sr. Jordan clearly explains why he isn't using it - its 'his' reality for 'his' classroom. My students in Tanzania are learning loads from my wordpress blog where I link several of tus videos - address is latamaritabonita - MUCHAS GRACIAS =) Sra. T

  • I don't think he was trying to offend you or anyone in any way. He was more or less trying to say that it isn't commonly used in the US which is where he lives and about 98% of his viewers also live. Therefor,he wasn't going to spend too much time reviewing it. Besides I think he got the just of it. I learned a lot. I didn't understand it when my teacher was explaining it today. :-)

  • I'm from Spain and my boyfriend is English, I thought that your way of teaching Spanish is quite correct, but saying that vosotros is not common, because Spain is the only country using it would be retarded, since Spanish was originated in castillian Spanish and the proper spanish had vosotros as the second form of plural. It's not like we use slang, if you don't want to use that form because your wife is mexican, good for you, but don't forget the Spanish mexican people know derives from ours.

  • ¡Exacto!

  • @ganyarauchen discrepo.

  • you gotta update your class!! Cause it's been a couple of years since it is correct to say "ellas" or "nosotras" when there are more girls than guys in a group

  • @landaverde87

To clarify, do you mean to say that it is common for people to use ellos/ellas/nosotros/nosotras depending on the majority of the people in the group?

My wife curiously just uses "nosotros" for all times even if they are all women. I think this is a small town tendency since she is from a small town in Mexico. ¿Qué te parece?

  • @tontitofrito Please, don't listen to this loser. The words ELLOS and NOSOTROS are used exactly as you say in your video. Don't you think it could be a little be difficult ti determine the number of women and men in, for example a classroom? It doesn't matter if a man is surounded by 10 million women, you have to say ELLOS, or NOSOTROS if you are that lucky dude. Saludos. Why do I know this? Bucause despite i'm studying law i love learning new languages. I'm Mexican by the way.

  • @tontitofrito it's ok the way you explain it , we still use "nosotros" in all hispanic countries, even if there is only a guy included not matter if the majority are girls, if you use nosotras its like if you were excluding the guy and it's not that we are machistas it is just the way the language works just as u said it :) but if u want to u can also say ellas y él

  • Hello! I am from Spain and you are right. We always use NOSOTROS even if there is a majority of women, or even if we are all women, that's why we are used to it. Only hardly ever, we use NOSOTRAS if there are only women in a kind of "women meeting", if you know what I mean. I hope I help you with my opinion. ¡Adiós! ;)

  • THANKS A LOT! MUCHAS GRACIAS!!!

  • You can use "Ustedes" instead of "vosotros-as" and even if you are in spain people will understand you. 90% of the spanish speakers in the world use "ustedes" form and only "10%" of the speakers (only in spain) use "vosostros" form. In latin america we study "vosotros" form at primary school, but we never use it in our regular life. If someone in latin america speaks you with "vosotros" form people will look to you like a weird person unless you are from spain. I hope this info will help you ;)

In english: it's similar to the way we say "you guys" for a group of males and females. We don't say: "hey girls" if there is even one guy in the group.

    Just thought I would share.

    Gracias por tus videos tontitofrito.

  • Te falta el "vosotros". Yo, tú, él, nosotros, VOSOTROS, ellos.

  • ¿has visto el video?

  • my spanish teacher played this today

  • umm ok you did sorry

  • im trying to test out of french to get into spanish because my school is filled with black people and hispanics, and in order for me to do that i have to learn basic spanish. your really helping me out alot so thank you! but can you start speaking both feminine and masciline plz? thanks!

  • Do you ever put your videos on Teacher Tube? We cannot access You Tube at our school.

  • I've watched twenty videos of yours in the past two days, and became a fan of this. I wish you were my teacher. Thanks for sharing. Gracias!

  • ty v.much!!

  • i woud never use "tu". instead i would say vos for friends and usted for parents.

  • @kenticoliguista "Vos" is from Argentina

For adults is "Usted" and friends is "Tú"

  • @kenticoliguista "Vos" is from Argentina

For adults is "Usted" and friends is "Tú"

  • NICE HAIR CUT!:)

  • you're great help! btw.. nice hair cut!;)

  • gracias. Soy de Thailande.

  • SOOOO..nostros is used when you are talking about a group of people including yourself and ellos is used when your talking about a group of people (boys) but not including yourself..am i right...kinda confused..dont laugh

  • "elloss or THEY" is used when you are talking about a group of people including boys and girls..

"ellas or THEY" is only used for girls..

"nosotros or WE" is used when you (man or woman) are talking about your group, and in the group are including boys and girls..

"nosotras or WE" is used when you are a WOMAN and you are talking about your group including only GIRLS..

excuse my englihsss jaja greats from Santander in the north of spain..!

  • does 'nosotros' mean only boys??

  • nosotros --> we, us 1. just males

     2. males and females

nosotras --> we, us 1. just females

  • yup yup

  • Muchas Gracias Señor Jordan! I never knew how similar español y français were!

    Very Cool.

  • I am native Spanish speaker. I have to say that everything was very well explained. Even I noticed few things about Spanish I didn´t think before. Congratulations!

Soy hispanoablante nativo.

Sigue haciendo clases ;).

  • el vosotros solo se usa en España

  • I = yo you = tú / usted (formal) él = he ella = she ello = it (we don't mention it. For example: It's raining = (ello) Está lloviendo. nosotros (masculine) / nosotras (feminine) = we ustedes = you (Canary Islands and Hispano-América) * vosotros (masculine) / vosotras (feminine) = you (only in IBERIAN PENINSULA) ellos (masculine) / ellas (feminine) = they NOTE: "Ustedes" is the most used (Canary Islands and Hispano-America) "ello" = it >> exist BUT we HARDLY don't mention it. "Estoy con ELLO"
  • Heeey, it's not élla, is ella!

  • yeah, that was a typo

  • @tontitofrito could you please upload videos from alphabetical order and then word meanings and stuff like that? plz reply soon!!! Adios!

  • Please, please, please say ñandú!! or gorro!!

  • your videos are great! Congratulations, I sure will use them in my class.

    Thanks

  • Ok thanks. and thanks for the vidoes

  • I know you did, but what I wanted to know, while you don't use vosotros, do you also use "ustedes" with your children, your little students.. etc?

  • yep.

  • Why don't you use "vosotros" there? you never talk to two or more people? I'm confused!

  • I'm pretty sure I explain the reason I don't use vosotros in the video. I use 'ustedes' for "you (plural)" as most of the Spanish speaking world does.

  • @xvzw

vosotros/vosotras is only used in spain and the old spanish in latin america. its correct sya vostros in Spain to refer you" (plural) = ustedes in any country in latinoamerica is used vostros

  • Are you going to get into the advanced stuff like subjunctive, future, etc. Thanks

  • i ? that is off topic: what dose tenemos mean?

  • TENEMOS = WE HAVE (e.g. "tenemos" dos perros = we "have" two dogs) OR WE ARE (e.g. Pedro y yo "tenemos" veintinueve años = Pedro and I "are" twenty-nine years old), ("tenemos" calor = we "are" hot). Hope it helps!

  • lmao what if you have 25,000 girls and one guy hahaha so funny, I pictured it in my head, and being a native speaker i Instinctively thought ELLOS. haha I never really gave it much thought how it works just does haha.

  • 3:35- from this time, the movie does not want to work :-(

  • Muchas gracias!

    Just to let you know:

at 2:52 and around there, ella does not have an accent mark.

    Anyway, this really helped!

  • ¿Como se dice me en espanol?

  • Depends on the context... I guess.

    Me= Yo.

For me = Para mí. ("Para yo" is wrong).

  • Awesome! I'm teaching subject pronouns today and am going to use this vidoeclip in class. ¡Mil gracias!

  • Thanks!!

  • muchas gracias! I'm taking spanish for my first year and these videos are really helping me understand.

  • helped me sooo much THANX!! :D

  • My brain hurts @_@

  • Thanks loads!

  • I had a question concerning this video.

In English, we always capitalize the pronoun "I". In Spanish, do we capitalize "yo" for a similar reason?

    Thank you,

    Gleepdiddly

  • Spanish doesn't tend to capitalize things as much as we do in English.

    yo is simply 'yo'

  • el+el+ella = ellos is a macho culture thing ? please, tell me where did you get that nonsense from ?

When you talk about the human kind dont you usually refer to it as "man" or "men" ?

    Same thing.

Also, there is no big Hispanic culture.

Each Spanish speaking country has its own culture and of course there is no Hispanic or latin race.

Should be Jamaica, South Africa be compared in any way with Canada or New Zealand ? of course not.

    Same thing

Will the US stupidity ever end ?

  • Tranquilo.

  • from an native english aspect, gender is completely NEW - so with this clarification of "machoism" it has really helped me put it into perspective. I live in Mexico, have a Chilean boyfriend and Argentinian friends - they all have a common denominator - they use a latin language that completely distinguishes gender. English also has its differences for example in England we say "trousers" and in the US we say "pants" - nobody disputes that ALL countries have their individuality and jargon.

  • I agree. But gender in Spanish has nothing to do with a "macho" thing, thats silly. All romance languages distinguish gender and so do lots of other languages, if not most.

An example is German, which Im currenlty learning.

  • It's simply to explain the concept to students who have no concept of gender with words, because English has long since lost word gender.

I'm not making a judgment call on all Spanish speakers being macho. I'd be ignorant and erroneous to attempt something to that effect.

  • I know, I get it. I just got mad when I saw your video. Thought you were being serious about it.

  • @mercjoe72

open up your mind dude! it was the funny way to explain the "ellos" "ellas" issue, it is called the didactical way... There is no problem for me.. By the way, I am Peruvian. Spanish from Peru is known for being the most neutral Spanish.

  • @andrewao

Ok. I didnt take the joke.

  • @andrewao I can say the same for Bogota Spanish lol!!

  • Hey !!!! Thanks a lot for your videos ... After a long search for a good Spanish tutor, i guess i have found one ;)

  • Awesome job(:

  • im a boy so does that mean that i will never say nosotras

  • No need to say it, but you'll need to understand what it means.

  • i like your videos very much!

    !muchas gracias! =)

  • macho :)

  • gracias!

  • con gusto

  • brilliant!! these are the kinda lessons I was looking for. I'm gonna look for your advanced lessons. Thanks!

  • OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

  • De nada. :-)
