Hello, I am joining a worship band, and I am upgrading my sound. I have some pedals from the80's that work fine. The only thing I don't have is a tap tempo delay, which seems to be pretty popular anymore. I was thinking of the M 13 to be the "all in one" solution, but I am worried about loosing my tone through it. Do you notice any tone sucking, or any alteration of your guitar signal ? When I listen to videos of the M 13, I hear the same sort of tone out of all of them. I'm not sure what it is
@timtheflyguy The M13 has both true bypass and buffered bypass of the signal. So, depending on your other pedals you can play with that to see what sounds best for you. I think the coloration of the signal is very, very subtle if you can hear it at all. Not a big deal IMO. An Ernie Ball volume pedal would color it way more.
Hey Troy, I was wondering what kind of cable do you use to run between the buffer and the amps. I looks pretty heavy duty. My church is looking into the possibility of isolating our guitar amps as well. Thanks for the video, I shared it with our team to explain what type of setup would be suitable for us.
@countstoneula Boy, I couldn't tell you. It is just an xlr cable that goes from the buffer to the routing boxes built into the floor. Then on the dock where the amps are it is another xlr. (mic cable)
@CHIPDADDY1000 Yeah it is a LOT of amp. Awesome, but overkill. I sold it a long time ago. If you are looking at a different route here's what I would do. The Suhr badger 18 will get 98 percent of the job done for what I play. Get that and a Suhr badger 1x12 cab with the scumback M75. If you want to be voxier get the Suhr 2x12 (open back) and put in a blue or scumnico with an M75. Then mic the one you want depending on your songs or mood. Scumnico for voxy, M75 for marhsall-y.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. It's very interesting. It seems you guys have really got it at pro level. Very cool...Did you ever use just a simple Line 6 Flextone w/ floorboard? That's what I'm using now. I've programmed 12 banks from clean, crunch, solo models. I'm just a beginner and this seems enough for me right now. I've got a Neanderthal gene in me and like to keep it simple. : )
@troymkennedy oh okay, I just acquired an M13 and just seeing what sort of board works well for holding extra ODs and neatening it up a bit. Do you notice volume boosts with the digital delay engaged? Do they plan to address that?
@dus65 I haven't noticed a volume bump with the DD myself. I use it quite a bit and it hasn't bugged me. L6 is really good about the updates on these things. My buddy Rich Renken is a product manger there and he is super responsive to stuff like that.
@bcats171 I agree. I obviously care about my sound. But sometimes navigating all the complexity of the gear can overshadow the music or even the spirit of worship. At least for me, the gear can be a distraction if I am not careful. For some it can even amount to an obsession. We spend so much time, money and energy on our gear that it becomes an unhealthy pursuit in light of our calling as lead worshipers.
@troymkennedy Your right, its all in where your heart lies.... i've heard steve vai sound like steve vai on a squier stratocaster. Its the same way with God i believe. Walmart guitars sound the same as Gibsons to him if they both used in the spirit of genuine worship. God has certainly blessed me with a nice setup (better than many)... but if he would continue to bless me with a Morgan Amp, Les Paul, Jhs Pedals, etc im going to worship the same regardless. Its all for him :)
@JohnPaulCM Hmmm...not sure. My TD takes care of all that. I imagine it would be a pain to drag them around to gigs unless you bring your own PA and sound tech all the time.
I was so thrilled to see another person using Avatar cabs. I recently switched from that same Marshall 2x12 that your other player uses to an Avatar cab and have been in love with my tone ever since.
@rockstar4jc I have recently switched to Suhr Badger 1x12 cab's and have never been happier. They are tuned extremely well. Sound bigger and clearer than my other 2x12's.
@SethAY68 I think that the nice thing about avioms is you are actually hearing what the mic is hearing. And consequently what the audience is hearing if it's a bigger room. Just like you do when recording. You get a great sound standing in the room, but when you mic it up and track it, you have to deal with the nuances and eq curve of the mic technique. So, it makes you quite a bit more honest about what the audience is hearing. I think it's healthy.
@nakedlungfish1 If you like this lesson, check out my worshipguitarcorner page. I created it to help out budding young worship guitar players. I'll be posting a video on my personal board very soon. God bless!
@Adji87 We do. :) Places like Hillsong London, Holy Trinity Brompton (London), Soul Survivor Watford (London), Trent Vineyard (Nottingham), Audacious (Manchester). There's more but I don't know all of them off of the top of my head. If you want to find one near you then drop me a message and I'll let know of ones around your area. Peace.
The PT on the Suhr amp head stands for Pete Thorn, Phenom guitar player.

@TheDownAndOutKS I use the reverbs in the M13 when I need them. The Octave verb is really cool!

@88segovia Why not? I believe we should put our best foot forward in worship.

I cant stand avioms. you have no idea what your guitar tone really sounds like through those. they're a lot of guitar players worst enemy

I'll stick with my 2 acoustic setups, thank you. I find in worship music, less = more
cheeseUout 1 year ago
@cheeseUout Why come to an "electric rig" if you prefer acoustic? That makes no sense.
Also, the more pedals/effects you use for worship, the less you actually have to play physically.(especially delay+reverb)
Which is what the less is more quote really refers to.
Xevamir 1 year ago
@Xevamir the phrase less is more is less about delay and more about knowing you're role and where you fit in the mix.

Hey man, found my way to this video from the Suhr forum. Very enviable rig man, I am GASing for one of those Badger 30s myself!
I am not religious and don't go to church or anything like that, but man I would be tempted if we had stuff like this going on over here in the UK.
Keep up the great work.
