We bought this Mogs here in Germany 20 years ago from the german Army for about 1000 Dollar.

They had a 2.3 litre 6 Zylinder Gasengine from the old Mercedes 230 S

In the Turkish Army they still use them, even their 40 years old.

@checkshalt 40+ years old and they out perform most modern 4x4s in virtually their stock form. They knew what they were doing in Germany.  Goo thing they didn't have Unimogs in WWII, we (US) might have been in trouble! :)

@jobremski why is it the americans think they are the greatest? they didnt enter ww2 til almost halfway thru...my grandfathers and several great uncles left their farms in saskatchewan, and fisheries on hte east coast aof canada and were fighting hard for two years before the first american showed up. i wont take away from the effort the american soldiers made, but you slap everyone else in the face thinking it was all about you....

Someday i want to build an FSJ with a cummins engine and the old Uni-Mog portal axles, to me those are by far the best axles for a severe duty TRUCK...If it worked for the Uni-Mog then it will work for me! I loved the video keep em coming!

Some people here have no clue about mogs: The first ones (with most of the features already back than) where built in 1948!

And yes: It is a truck not a car (they can pull a TRAIN with several carriages) so the achievement is even more admirable!
