  • Interesting playing man. I like your style

  • dude, you are my hero! there are so many videos with standard-major-scale-lalala-folk-music played on hammered dulcimers.. and here you presented the wonderful sound of h.-dulcimer with sophisticated music. you are the best.

  • one of the hardest instruments ive ever tried to play. haha had some one in TN try to teach me. too visually complex

  • he's trying to play it like a cymbalon :D:D

  • amazing. Is this a chromatic model? I'm guessing it must be with those notes. Is it in a standard tunning?

  • Based very loosely on gypsy approach ...

Have you thought of learning the cimbalom ?

It has far greater capabilities than american dulcimer

(especially school of playing !) Nice to see chromatic american dulcimer ... Listen to Toni Iordache for real gypsy dulcimer (Youtube ...) Good luck !

  • Its almost hypmtizeing

  • wow! absolutely inspirational.

  • i bet that is hard to learn.

  • where's the link to wear we down-load his CD?

  • das ist wuuunderschön :)

  • Absolutely beautiful ! Love it !!!

  • Hello, friend Dulcimista!. Thank you very much for sharing this fantastic video, it is enjoyed really. A wonderful instrument of string, with a marvellous sound. It is a pleasure to listen to this music.

Receive a great greeting from Galicia (Spain - Europe)!.

  • wow is that a gypsy instrument:)it sounds prtty good to me:)u wanna watch my original composition , it is called "A Battle In The Skyes"

  • It's not a Gypsy instrument, he's just using "Gypsy" scales, i.e scales that are often used in Gypsy music. The dulcimer, which is what he's playing, is a very very old instrument. Way before Gypsies.

  • Nice stuff. Is that a diatonic instrument?

  • its kind of diatonic. It changes keys as you move to different parts of the instrument but it is not chromatic

  • So then it's chromatic (¿?), how come you say it isn't chromatic when you can hit all the notes?

  • ive been watching a few of these, not an intstrement i was previously aware of, but you have the best style ive seen

  • Great stuff, I would like to buy this gipsy!

How do I contact it's master?

  • I dont know what jazz your playing sounds like you stood in a minor, chromatics and what not, but not jazz

  • You're absolutely right, papoodon. All I'm really doing is playing some rudiments that Jazz Manouche players would use to build improvisations. An exercise more than jazz, really. Working my way towards playing jazz and hoping others might enjoy my process. Hope I didn't offend your sensibilities.

  • it may not be the mainstream idea of what jazz sounds like, but there are many players who would love to experiment with new sounds like this. your playing could really add a whole new flavour to a standard jazz group, look at players like herbie hancock and wayne shorter, theyre always experimenting with new sounds. id like to try an instrument like that in place of a piano, obviously players are hard to find where im from though

  • @Dulcimista It doesn't really matter what scale you are playing. It sounds absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

  • @papoodon Yes, On other videos he play jazz:]

  • cymbala dumbass...

  • Man, that just knocked me out. This was so excellent. I hope everyone who watches your video realizes just how excellent it is. Working on some Django stuff myself. Dulcimer Dan

  • gypsies call it a cymbol :P
