If you think this was a bad fold, those times you call in the same situation as Farha, raised on the river, its gonna be a bad call... You call a reraise on the river with top pair, 98% of the times you gonna loose that pot... 2% are bluffs...

People need to realize Farha doesn't even have the 10th best possible hand here. It's just top pair king kicker. There's no reason why Scotty can't have a hand like say AQ. Scotty is tight and a former world champ, I doubt we'd all find it so easy to risk 60K calling Scotty there.

You also have to understand everyone has outs from the flop unless they're drawing dead... your friend may still have been an idiot for calling (by the way you WANT that call more often than not) but he still has outs. I nearly quitted because it was fukin ridiculous. I mean, if he at least had 2 and another 2 came out on turn or river, then I'll just say that's poker. But runner 9s just means that poker hates my ass. When those runner 9s came out, I honestly felt like God hated me or something. So I quit poker for several months even though I won so much compared to how much I lost. I won over 600 but lost 40 bucks. I just assume that God's telling me to stop playing poker.

There was no flush draw in the community cards, to have a straight, Nguyen would have had to play with crappy pocket cards
and the Queen was the highest card in the community...

He could have had a straight 78, two pairs or pockets that became trips. You don't reraise on the river with unless you know u beat your opponent. Scotty made a bold move, Farha played as a pro.

True, but Farha plays a lot more than that tourney in cash games a lot with a lot more money on the line. Buy-in here is 10,000. High stakes he plays usually around 400 k, 600k, and he makes some ridiculously loose calls, but I see where your coming from Scotty is crazy 2. I personally like both of them

poker is about analyzing the bettingpattern of your opponents
sometimes you can all an all in on the river against 2 overcards or just with king high (search for cunningham vs gold if you dont beliefe me ;-)
and sometimes you dont need a hand to win a pot.
you will also lose a lot of money,if you will fold everytime your qq pre, if an super-loose-aggressive player like durrr would reraise you.

People need to realize Farha doesn't even have the 10th best possible hand here. It's just top pair king kicker. There's no reason why Scotty can't have a hand like say AQ. Scotty is tight and a former world champ, I doubt we'd all find it so easy to risk 60K calling Scotty there.

wtf are you talking about? its' more like 60/40 or 70/30 skill/luck.... if you never catch cards, and u're up against a player who catches minimum top pair or two pair, no way in HELL you're going to bluff them out of a hand.... Even PROFFESSIONAL poker players understand that luck plays a BIG factor in this game... they just all agree that skill plays MORE of a factor.

.... You're assuming every time you get "better cards" you're hitting the nuts... or a hand that you can't let go of. Sure... if you hit the Nuts or the second nuts, or even 2 pair every hand, then there's really nothing anybody can do to you. But that's not how it goes.... You could have the best hand and be bluffed out, or THINK you have the best hand and be played. SKILL is where you make your money, and lose the least, OVER TIME.

I nearly quitted because it was fukin ridiculous. I mean, if he at least had 2 and another 2 came out on turn or river, then I'll just say that's poker. But runner 9s just means that poker hates my ass. When those runner 9s came out, I honestly felt like God hated me or something. So I quit poker for several months even though I won so much compared to how much I lost. I won over 600 but lost 40 bucks. I just assume that God's telling me to stop playing poker.

The call on the turn worried Farha, I don't think Scotty would have raised on the turn with AA KK or a flopped set for the essential reason of value (Farha almost had to put Scotty on a big hand after the river raise(excellent move)
