Do not underestimate this technique who cares whether its north or south, who are yah to say its incorrect? Are yah masters of the Eagle Claw? Obvious this form of Gung Fu is lethal and deadly. Its the REAL thing.
I actually enjoy the sound effects.... kung fu flicks would be a lot less entertaining without them. This clip often gets stuck in my head, the same way that songs occasionally do... The sound f/x, the music, the corny voice-over... I love it !!!!
Most Hong Kong films feature Southern Eagle Claw Fist which uses 3 fingers. The Southern focuses mainly only in gripping and seizing techniques while Northerns focuses on gripping, joint locks and take downs.
There is a form of Eagle Claw Kung Fu that uses three fingers, that is Southern Eagle Claw. Northern Eagle Claw uses five fingers. Eagle Claw originated in the North and migrated South.
This movie has a cool intro. I keep watching it repeatly. The music and sounds and narration give it a tentalising atmosphere. Who cares if it is an incorrect form of eagle's claw, it's cool.
The Eagle Claw fist shown here (three fingers) is an incorrect form commonly used in the movies. Other aspects of the forms shown here, such as grabbing under the ribs and striking the top of the head, are more typical of authentic Eagle Claw. EAgle Claw is an especially vicious style - advanced techniques are meant to tear the flesh and tendons right off the bone.
My father teaches Eagle Claw and the Southern Ealge Claw.
I thought it was all for show but I was wrong when I challendge him. He had me in positions where I couldent move. I cant wait to master this but it would probaly take years.
many years ago I investigated this matter of tearing flesh from the body. I introduced several chinese and japanese karate experts from the SF Bay Area to attempt this for special operations training. I had provided cadavers from a local university. No one was able to do this. We all realized that there was a misinterpretation. The techniques could damage and tear tendons and flesh from bone, but it resided under the skin, not from the body.
@eagleclaw Hello, can you please elaborate, what is the other way of making the talon/claw? Please, I know very little but am very interested, thank you

I agree! Eagle's Claw, while hardly unknown, is still somewhat underrated in my opinion. It really works as a drama and the kung fu is quite good.
