Terror is... is being unable to travel freely in my own country! is being groped by officials who were supposed to protect my freedoms! Terror is the pretense for all hostilities against my freedoms. So, if terror vs. freedom = a loss of freedom, then hostility was missing from the equation and is the only hope of restoring those freedoms. My Muslim contacts here in Europe and in the Middle East do not recognize Ben Laden -- they never have. The scariest terrorists I've ever met as a journalist are Americans -- to a one, white males. Homegrown, often very well-connected, they blend in and do their worst. Daily. Why? To make money. That is what really sickens me -- it's not for any twisted idealism. The almighty buck is the motive. Follow the money, sez I.
