@Bladestar7 I think it's somewhat controlled sparring, but there doesn't seem to be any set patterns. They're not trying to hurt each other, but they did take hits.
@Bladestar7 well, I THINK it some what controlled. For example, if there an opening around their opponent face, they won't take it because they don't put on gear.
very good! what if one day in the future they do make light sabers like star wars? technology does advance. Look at laser beams and how much wattage is need to create a field that can even burn through metal like butter. Imagine if it becomes a reality in the future. Keeping traditions with the blade might serve useful in distant years or early years ahead. The blade might even serve as ar even as a force field against bullets.
Sorry, my sci-fi obession is sounding ridiculous, but its true.
aye MRSARU...as some have already stated, it's from Thailand. Thai soldiers learned Krabi Krabong as a weapon/sister-style in conjuction with Muay Boran (predecessor of Muay Thai).
Too bad you will not always carry with those weapons all the time, while you can carry ALWAYS with your MA skills. And also, what if your 9mm or your 45 jams? Do you think your opponent is going to wait until you reload?
By the way, your opponent would neither give you all the time you want to install a C4. If the MA were good for nothing, the military would not use them to train their soldiers today. Think about that...
message to the user EmmaandSophia. I am going to guess anyone can beat you, even a small child. Because you speak of projectile weaponry ( guns ) and explosives ( c-4 ), needed in order for you to be this undefeatable awesomeness. Cowards without skill instantly resort to the weapons you described in order to feel empowered. How would you fair without them? If you use one against some martial artist you are not the victor, the weapon is. Don't pride yourself on what the tool can do.
If you have studied any form of full contact escrima, you would have done some drills very similar to these being performed. It takes alot of practice to get to this level of retention here though...excellent skills!
It's not real sparring, jeesh guys, if you think that si real sparring with unplanned attacks you've never fenced, or had a stick fight. Real fighting ain't that pretty ;-) But KK is nice when performed, I've trained it a little, seen many demos, but they didn't like me grabbing their sword hands/arms in close combat, I come from the Dekiti Tersia System, it's what we do. I like the KK technique of keeping the blade threatening the opponent of all time though.
yo talkin' 2 vectorb iv they were in da real battle field it wouldn't be like this at all. they wouldn't be wasting all this energy hitting each other's swords.just like u said "just thrust to his head and be done w/it!"
So much energy spent on attacking your enemy's blade, 10+ attacks to the blade to every attack to the person. While i see the advantage in the feints, it just seems like a wast of energy, just thrust to his head and be done with it! but then im a fencer, its what we do.
You will always find similarities, after all there is so much a body can do to strike with a weapon. The rest is just interpretation and adaptation...
BS! Silat is not Kali. That's like saying Apples are really Oranges too. Silat is Indonesian and Kali is Phillipino. How in the world does that make those two styles the same thing??? Please don't comment with misinformation if you don't know enough.
No one said Silat are the same thing. No one is spreading misinformation and just because they are from two different countries doesnt mean they havent been influenced by each other.
I practice Krabi Krabong and, yes, the metal swords DO make sparks sometimes. When the practice blades start to wear down, they get little nicks in them. These nicks catch on the opponent's sword and increasingly larger chunks of metal get flaked off when blades clash. Sometimes sparks fly, and the sword eventually has to be thrown away.
For the demonstrations they apparently use something to make the sparks on nearly every contact. I am merely requesting it. It is in my opinion that sparks DO fly when metal swords hit metal. I've seen it. Suffice to say though such hits are going to damage the blades quite a bit.
man these guys are good... I mean... I can take someone down with like a toy lightsaber and yes it sounds a bit wierd but it pratice that I put in to get better and they are all over the place... altho I think I can probly mybe... keep up but they're master dudes so probly not :/
well, I think this kind of fight uses a lot of energy, And have a lot of no needed moves. But its very nice and efective at the first fight,in the second fight the fighter is so tired that is almost impossible to win
These are only reflexsive drills, controlled sparring done at 3/4 speed. Believe me if they were really trying to hit each other with no gear on it would be either more defensive with footwork, or totally brutal with both combatants trading blows...this is a great training excersise though...
mmm i love the sound of wooden practice weapons hitting, reminds me of my weapons class in aikido, this looks awesome too, it looks so much like filipino stick fighting, with a touch of chinese kung-fu weaponry
All i think about when i see that video is getting hit in the hands, when me and my friends beat eachother with sticks like that, a hand hit hurts really bad. Nice video, got a little repetitive after a while.
i need to learn this

My most effective technique is called C4. No MMA or Kabri Kabrong can beat me.

MinMushashi 5 years ago
I've done escrima. Repetitive moves will enhance
the trainee's reflexes, eye coordiantion, strenght,
techniques, and confidence. This is important! Because is in real battle. It should only last 5 sec or less. 1 strike 1 kill.
mixsalad 4 years ago
Escrima is very fun to train. Probably would only need about 40% of the moves in a real fight though..

Sparring with metal blades doesn't send sparks. It's a stereotypical hollywood effect.

Exactly. Using a blade to block directly will only give you a broken blade sooner than you'd like. Parry and it'll last longer. :)
