  • does this only have 2xosc?

  • Such a well done product... Ah...

  • affordable price ? yeah, said the leprechaun at the end of the rainbow

  • "Whoa. The moog sound at an affordable price." shiiiiiiitttt...and 2-pac is still alive

  • @djtes90 compared to the Voyager, Mini Moog, and the Moog Source. YES it is affordable.

  • They even kept the rainbow background from 30 years ago!

  • That guy's voice is sooo boring.

  • damn, i wish i had a spare 1000 quid

  • fuck fuck fuck you've got to be fucking kidding me

  • looking at this and looking at 25+ yr old rolands with broken buttons and this and that wrong, its pretty easy to see where my 1k will be spent =)

  • Whats the cheapest synth like this with overdrive, and all the cool shit this one has?

  • @PastaCheifFilms DSI Moho

  • @javiceres the mopho doesnt have overdrive though i dont think.

  • @lonelywolfy Oh yes it does.

  • @unkellsam didnt know that, cool! sounds like the mopho is a bit more sensible to go with then, no? they seem to both have the same features but its much more cheaper. the only difference seems to be the price and probably the sound. the mopho has sub oscillators, does the little/slim phatty?

  • @lonelywolfy Although the Moog has a signature sound, it is definitely overpriced. There's a lot more the Mopho can do that the Moog can't - complex patching, two envelopes, step sequencer, wider range of sounds. But then again, they both sound pretty different. Mopho is more aggressive and raw, Moog is more smooth and rich. I love the Moog bass - if they were both the same price, I'd choose the Moog for that sound, but if you're on a budget the Mopho is better bang for your buck.

  • @unkellsam i have a prophet 08 ; ) i was just curious how the two stacked up against each other. i love the prophet but its much like you say, the sound is aggresive and raw, and id like to have another synth that was a bit milkier and smooth with its sound. and im looking for something that could produce really good basses for dance music. i can get some nice ones out of the p08 but sometimes its a pain and i just keep hearing about moog bass over and over and over lol :)

  • @lonelywolfy If the Prophet 08' sound isn't working for you, the Mopho won't make a difference - they both have the same character.

If you're not hearing what everyone's talking about with the Moog bass through youtube videos, you probably won't appreciate it. For the average listener (and music consumer) its a subtle difference, if any, from a soft synth. For trained ears its night and day.

    Here's a dance track where I used the Mopho for the bassline: -----> snd.sc / e2C6ub

  • @lonelywolfy Moog bass is perfect. It's fat and awesome. You should try it :>

  • @unkellsam I'd agree but add that the construction on the Moogs are probably better and more expensive for sure as well as the interface, besides the LFO's of the mopho are digital, wich does not have any consecuence on the sound and are cheaper.

  • Responder a este vídeo... and may be the envelopes are digital too.

  • @lonelywolfy Or you can get a polyphonic Tetra for the same price as a Moog Slim Phatty - wayyy better bang for the buck.

  • @PastaCheifFilms Slim Phatty. Just rack-mount this synth.

  • This synth has such a professional sound. I swear it's pretty much symphony quality. Does anyone know if the slim phatty sounds exactly the same, or is it different?

  • @culturaleyes Slim Phatty is exactly the same minus the keyboard/wheels.

  • With such a great synth with great sounds....

how did these guys make listening to it and looking at it soooooooooo boring?

My god man!!!!! come on you had so much to work with here?

  • why do you have to talk !!! Just fucking play it man

  • JUST PLAY thE FUCKING THING

  • This dude is super boring. They need a girl in a bikini selling this product.

  • Even though it's cheap for a moog of this quality&ability, a grand is a lotta money. So, no moog for me :( and I want this one more than anything.

Jack White (White Stripes, Dead Weather) uses one of these!

  • I want one so bad...

  • We can clearly here the different steps as he moves the filter button... this is a shame, all the smoothness is lost. How can this ever be compared with an original Moog filter??

  • @elekibuumu You have sources of modulation, even a CV in to avoid stepness.

  • Such an exciting instrument presented by such a boring voice...

  • RIP Bob Moog

  • Deadmau5 uses this in almost all of his songs

  • I would much rather get a microkorg xl...

  • @player042 why? those guys are analog MODELING. this is an analog synth, also it's a fucking moog. i dont see why you would chose a shitty synth like the microkorg over an amazing analog synth like this... idk just my opinion

  • @j0hnyd42 Lol i can give you a simple answer....money. Im 15 so its hard to get 2000€ just like that, but yeah moogs are cool but i dont have the money

  • @player042 yeah same here, id totally get one if i had the money too, im just stickin to softsynths until i do because analog-modeling synths like that korg are essentially the same as software built in to a fancy controller. haha, hopefully one day i can afford one of these or maybe the voyager

  • @j0hnyd42 It would be pritty fucking coll 2 have 1 of those in your room :D

  • @player042 oh yeah for sure :P or a fat modular like deadmau5's

  • affordable ? affordable my arse haha :P well i guess i am only 16 XD

  • Nice. Now all you need is a brain wave synchronizer that gives you a broad range of Hz frequencies from 0 - 1000 or more Hz. Also, allow right and left channels so that people can differentiate right and left ear Hz frequencies to determine a middle brain frequency concentration. That would be nice with physical controls.

  • moge? i pronounce it Moooog

  • That guy's voice makes me depressed.

  • Is the Moog Little Phatty better then a Korg Radias..??

    Anyone..??

  • @ek42596 yes.

  • @ek42596 depends on what you are after... moog little phatty has a moog prodigy kind of sound, wich is really cool and amazing for really harsh synth sounds, acid-analog leads as well it can do some really nice and phsychedellic leads or even some minimoog-kind of sounds, although the radias is a much more versatile synth, it has a bunch of options, but is digital so is just another world... not best, not worst, just diferent... if you are after intersellar leads and naughty basses go for moog

  • @ek42596 yes!

i dont own either, but trust me, yes!

  • @ek42596 They are sooooo diferen't. Impossible to compare them.

  • southern accent MAKES this

  • Uh one knob for cutoff and resonance (having to press a button to toggle between the two) is a deeeezaster. Would rather save the extra cash and get the real deal.

  • I reckon the Moog Little Phatty is the answer to the Moog Voyager, as the Moog Prodigy was to the Minimoog.

I reckon it will sound great with age. So buy your little phatty now, store it for 20 years, and just like wine, itll taste better.;)

  • i just bought one!!!!! hell yerrr

  • i prefer just knobs instead of buttons

  • The controls are a nightmare.

  • @nipheon i disagree, it doesn't look that complicated...

  • i disagree, once you get used to it, i can actually make patches faster than on the voyager (at a music store) cause I know where everything is. Do you actually own one?

  • this is used in Bloody Beetroots- Warp great song

  • @DJIsaac323 haha that's the only reason i want to get this! the Bloody beetroots rule!

  • hell yea they do, there my favorite

  • @swordsman00 same here man:P

  • don't you mean moogs are THE shit?

  • lmao. no theyre not

  • No. YOU are shit.

  • @UberTroll13 remember, if you troll, make it less obvious

  • Why are users below fighting this analog beauty should be bringing us together.

  • vai moreno!

  • The Little Phatty is a great little synth! I have had mine for about 3 years now and it is still great. The only thing I don't like about it is the buttons are not real sensitive and I end up having to hit them 3 to 4 times before it changes.

  • I think maybe 3 years of heavy use have caused your buttons to wear out.:) Mine are still fine after 2 years though, we'll see in one more.;)

  • You may be right. I have used mine everyday for the past 3 years so I am sure that could have something to do with it. It has held up well! The only thing I have had to replace is my pitch wheel POT.

  • Send it to Moog, Im sure they'll fix it rather cheap. They have great customer service. Good luck, and may your LP be the last thing you touch before you keel over from old age :D

  • I fixed it. It was not too bad to replace.

  • affordable? its 1000 dollars

  • more affordable than your average moog unit.

  • i wish there were two knobs for cutoff and reso. one for each control.-

  • No comment on this prod, but on synth design generally:

For a hybrid analog + digital control, the limitations of digital that do not apply to analog should not effect the audio when controlling the analog path.

This means any digital bits that might introduce stepping or locking should be designed to avoid these. Steps (127 or less) can be heard and too frequent locking to digital perfection can reduce liveliness. Circuits need to be designed by listening, not computer design.

  • im going to be mad if i go check the price after he said it was affordable and its like a grand

  • a grand is a bargain for one of these... that's about the most affordable these moogs are gonna get

  • @baiken22 yeah no shit

  • @baiken22 I might be getting one for my microkorg and 300 bucks cash:)

  • @baiken22 the new slim phatty is $799!

  • @baiken22 slim phatty proved ya wrong :P

  • A grand is what an open-box unit goes for. Mine was $1249 new, and now the Stage II is going for $1285. The Voyager starts at $2500 for the rackmount, and goes up to $3500 for the Select Series. But that's Moog for you...and you get what you pay for.

  • and you get what you pay for.

and you get what you pay for.

and you get what you pay for.

and you get what you pay for.

    Yes.

  • Let me guess, you own a Voyager?

Voyager owners are like Apple Mac users. They cant shut up about how great their product are, nor can they shut up about how bad the alternative is.

    Please, go away.

  • Hey man, don't be quick to judge. I don't even own a moog synth and I wouldn't buy one unless I had a shit ton of money kicking around. I just think they're wonderful instruments but I'm not the type to irrationally devote myself just because the product is so "pretty." I guess I kind of agree about the mac user metaphor.

  • I apologize, Ive just heard the phrase "you get what you pay for" one time too many when it comes to this product. I agree with you, I would never purchase a synth because its pretty, but not one that is ugly either. Good looks help inspire you, and makes you more than often want to play it. But what comes first of course is sound.:)

  • dude shut your fucking mouth This is the best fucking piece of MOOG ever MOOG is the best ever so stop hating

  • Obviously you didnt read nor understand a single thing of my message. I wasnt hating at all, and judging by your attitude Id say your a little angry emo kid who needs to learn how to read before he opens his big fucken mouth.

  • Wow mate nice very nice i didnt think people still called people emo its sorta like being gay now its the hip thing or maybe its just you that thinks its hip?

    MOOG IS THE BEST!

    MOOG IS THE BEST!

    MOOG IS THE BEST!

  • Wow great reply. You make an ass of yourself and instead you point out a word I used in my sentence that you think is lame...

How about dumbass instead? That should be more suiting for you and is quite 'hip', as you call it.

    dumbass.

  • Fucking hell thrcman

    "dumbass"

    "emo"

fair play u are childish as fuck

    whats next

    "gay boy"

    "faggot"

    get some new words

  • If you don't like what someone has to say, get over it. The only people who should be ridiculed for speaking their minds, are the ones who try to ridicule others for speaking their minds. Play nice. It's just Youtube

  • wow cool!! O__o

  • I had a Moog Rogue, but I just sold it, needed the money, didn'/t know what to do with it since I had no other equipment. Originally bought it bcause of Rush & ELP, wanted to play, but you can't do anything with a lone piece of equipment like a Rogue.

  • Can't do anything with a rogue?

    wow.

  • I didn't have any other equipment, plus I didn't really understand what to do with it back in 1984, (before computers) I could make sounds with it, but couldn't remember the settings I used, etc...,, makes me appreciate people who can play it...

  • There were a number of computers in 1984...Moog even had a MIDI computer program in 1984, although what that has to do with a non-MIDI synth I don't know. To recall patches on a non-preset synth, you take pictures of the settings. Or make a patch sheet.

  • I used to make drawings of the controls & settings. The mainstream of people didn't have computers or camera's back then. Electronic music wasn't like it came to be in the 90's. Do you have a Moog?

  • I've got a customized Little Phatty Stage I. I love it! And as for people not having a camera in 1984...I was two. Everyone in my family had at least one camera...my grandmother had three of them. Film cameras, of course. ^_^

  • we were from the poorer family. People I knew didn't have camera's, my dad had 1 film camera that he used on Christmas. That is pretty eccentric back then & in my circle of people, we thought people who walked around with camera's were narcs

  • Interesting. Never saw my family as being rich, but looking back on all the technology my dad bought, I guess we kinda were. I bought a Little Phatty two years ago, though I don't consider myself rich. That was a huge purchase for me. So were the 'Foogers. I don't actually own a video camera or a digital camera now, either. Soon, when I have my own house. ^_^

  • I wonder if this guy even realizes what the play on words is.

  • i can't understand how someone can invent such a creepy name

  • I can't help but laugh when the first guy says "Little Phatty"

  • haha me too

  • LOL

    Same

  • is there a software version of this so i c an use it with a midi keyboard

  • the point of a moog is to be analog and voltage controlled as opposed to digital.

so no, there is no software synth, BUT there are a bunch of analog style software synths that try to copy the way these work.

  • theres two software version of the minimoog, but yeah the point of it is to have a real analog synth

  • The Moog LP sound good, but have any one here compared the LP whit an old Minimoog, the old Minimoog sound really warm, does the LP have the same warm sound.

  • I don't think the LP is out there to match the Minimoogs. It simply takes some of the things MOOG are loved for and makes it sound suitable for TODAY.

  • Well, probably not as warm considering the original MiniMoog uses discrete circuits while the newer Moogs incorporate some IC's. But the LP offers many pros like MIDI, memory, two ADSR's, 1-4 pole filter, stability, now an arpeggiater, price, and most importantly it won't die at a moments notice.

  • why can't moog get at least 6 voices of polyphony? japanese (yamaha/roland and later korg) have been making poly analogs since 70's/80's...roland jx10 even had 12 voices...fast forward, now american companies: alesis has a 16 voice poly analog synth and sequential circuits in the 70s had 6 voices...come on moog, get your act together...1300 notes for one damn note of monophony for that moog sound? is there something special about moog sine wave? sine wave is sine wave!

  • i meant '1300 currency notes'...not, 'keyboard' note...and i meant prophet 80, not the 70's sequential circuits...moog, follow your friend dave smith or the japanee blokes like kakehashi (roland founder).

  • Moog specialist: *long, despairing sigh* I am very excited to talk about this product.

  • How much is the little phatty??

  • They can be around 700-1200.

  • where????' 700 ???

  • HEY!!!!!

  • hardware is the best!

  • The best at limitations maybe.

  • Common people Moog has been pronounced Mogue, rhyming with Vogue or Rogue since the early days. What a stupid thing to argue about. It's like Favre pronounced Farve. It is what it is. I am pretty sure Bob knows his own name. Some people want to know where the RG comes from in KORG, at least thats something that is unanswered.

  • No. just no

  • oh dear.

  • Yes realise me error..

    *bows head*

  • However, the pronunciation that has been generally accepted as the 'morm', is grammatically incorrect never the less.

MOOG - has two 'o's in it obviously.

The rules of how the English Language is pronounced means that it should really be spoken as OOOO .. as in FOOD.

You don't pronounce 'Food' - 'Fode' do you?

The fact that it has been accepted as being Pronounced 'Moge' doesnt make it right gramatically.

But I apologise for my outburst.

  • In America its Moog, like food, in Europe its Moog like Vougue. The latter being the correct pronounciation, but 90% of the industry says Moog like food and that is how it will always be said. The visual impact of Moog as a word solidifies that fact.

  • no stupid in all the world is moog like vouge u stupid yankee

  • I don't like to correct people when they are wrong, but I just have to correct you. The reality is it is pronounced Moog as in "food" in America, as that is how 2 "oo" are pronounced here. it is like saying Tomato and Tamato. Whether or not it is pronounced moog like "vougue" that will not happen ever in America, and it has been that way since the 1960's so it will not change. But the fact that a mis pronounciation would anger someone, well that is just something you will have to work on :)

  • im angry because is moog like vougue, but i understand that in america its moog like food, but other people say that "is moog like food in all the world" is moog like vouge but the americans pronunce it like food, u known? im argentinian not english.

  • Ahh Argentina, a very beautiful country. Everyone I've met from there are very great people. I agree, its silly to mispronounce, but Americans will always say it the "wrong" way because that is naturaly how you say the Double O's in English :)

They are not doing it to anger anyone, its just how its said here. It could have been corrected, but Moog as a company never made great strides to make sure it was being pronounced right, most likely because it doesnt matter, people know Moog regardless

  • argentina sucks, is a fucking country, well

i wanna ask u a question in PM so check ur message board

  • I say the moog that rhymes with dog.

  • I say moog

    that rhymes with

    BOOB

  • moog rhymes with moog....Dr Bob Moog confirms this when introducing himself "Hello, I'm Dr Bob Moog (mogue)

  • Was the 24db/Oct ladder LPF an accident or did he have it in his mind all the while?

  • sorry i meant moog rhymes with rogue

  • Just to make a point, I'm American (heh, I can finally spell that with a capital A like I'm proud), and I still pronounce moog like vogue.

  • me too

  • hey chek the PM that i sent to u

  • I want one.

  • i dont know anything about synthesizers and i was wondering what is the difference between an analog synthesizer and a keyboard synthesizer.

  • analog circuits are what are in an analog synth

  • how does one hook up their guitar to it, if one can at all?

  • i think thats why they made the moogerfoogers

  • i'm not sure about the little phatty, but i know there are quite a few keyboards into which you can run an audio signal. more than likely, it'll just run the signal through the keyboard's filter...no effects...just filtering!

  • that sounds incredible

  • less talk, and more play, makes jack a nicer guy

  • I love this synth. I just bought one. But this video is BORING!!!!!

  • Not as boring as your shit attempt at jazz.

  • lol

  • I love my Little Phatty. Best investment of my life!

  • Amen to that... i LOVE my phatty, and so does every artist I play with!

  • really? is good? for the price i mean -.-

  • waaaaa suena tan lindo

  • sooo pretttty.....

    x x o

  • i'm new to synths, but after reading around I really think the phatty is what i'm looking for, but i have one question. i want to be able to do bass sequencing...what is the best piece of kit to use in tandem with the little phatty?

  • Roland makes some MIDI bass pedals that are pretty good. I think they call them the PK-5 or something.

  • It actually costs quite a bit to make an analog synth considering all the hardware involved. By the time you factor in labor etc, it gets up there. A good thing to remember is, the less knobs/jacks, and boards, the less expensive. You can have a lot of sonic power if you're willing to give up the "precious metal" knobs and $4 pots.

  • I'm buying this synth next week. I really can't wait :)

  • Save abit more for the Voyager module, wont regret it.

  • did you buy it and are you happy with it?

  • moogs are totally overpriced!!!

they say on these videos that they are extremely affordable! Thats A load of garbage!

  • I picked one up on craigslist for £485, so that's debateable.

  • Theats true but im talking about the msrp price. the company is saying thaT the synth is extremely affordable if you buy it new.

AND I JUST THINK THATS BULL.

  • I can't defend them on the 'extremely' affordable front, but when you factor in the US production and Moog name that you are paying for, the price is to be expected.

And the guys at Moog are so friendly!

The street price here in the UK is £799 and I would buy mine again for that money.

I think in terms of features and the sound engine, it's the best analog monosynth out there bar the Dave Smith Mono Evolver Keyboard.

  • thats very true.

  • You mean a modular? About $20k. A Minimoog? About 4-$6k. A Voyager? 2700-$3700. A polymoog? About 4 grand. A Liberation? $2000 plus fully restored. The Little Phatty Stage II? $1295. This IS a REAL Moog. WTF are you talking about?

  • After looking at the price tag. I think I'll stick with my Moog source.

  • No man, just no. Do a long-term comparison of an Apple vs. a Dell and you will see the light. Moogs work in the same brilliant, reliable way.
