Ah, I used to do Jujutsu myself. It's like judo only with more fatal moves and dangerous techniques. Judo is like a watered down version of jujutsu, which is the martial art chosen in tournaments, as there is less risk of serious injury and makes the fighting safer and more competitive without having to worry as much
A judo player would destroy a Jiujitsu player standing. However, Jiujitsu is more dominant on the ground. I hate getting into Judo vs Jujitsu debates... They both have their strengths and weaknesses.
@thewerrett I agree. They both focus more on certain aspects of the art, and yes, judo would rape jujutsu standing up.
I'd say jujutsu would probably be the art for self defence against people carrying knifes, people who are wearing armour, or people that sneak up on you, whilst judo is the more "manly" art, and is usually very good in a one on one fight. I think bruce lee once spoke about the differences in the "jutsu" arts and the "do" arts. I'd try wikipedia for a better answer than mine. :)
@Muckass06 Yeah, you're right :) I do judo for sport, fitness and fun. Being effective in a 'real' situation doesn't really occur to me... I suppose in a 'real' situation, people will do whatever they need to do to defend themselves rather than relying on a martial art system. Sure, martial art training helps but you gotta mix it up a little :D
In real life you can't stick to one style, which is why I believe it helps to know lots of different styles. If you're being hit by some strong and fast guy, for example, the fast explosive moves of karate won't work, whilst if you're up against someone who is armed with a knife or something, jujutsu or judo help a lot. The situation of the fight changes every second and you have to change with it. You have to do what works best, and not follow a strict style:)
@lakersfan132 In judo, there are four main ways to win. Throwing your opponent flat on their back with speed and control, pinning them on their back for 25 seconds, making then tap from an arm lock or strangle/choke.
When was this tournament and was it at Lee Won Hee's school? I won this twice (-73kg) in spring 2009 and summer 2008. Are you still in Seoul and training? Nice judo btw, how did you do in the rest of the competition? I know there are a few class fighters out there!

High five! Haha. I'm thinking about starting up judo soon. I have 3 years of being on the wrestling team at school so far. Any tips for starting judo?

They guy in the white didn't know how to bridge with his neck/head that well. I think he could have gotten out if he knew how to
