Very moving for me to see this. I can feel that groove from BIll right through the screen. He made a groove a mile wide, that's why it was so beautiful to play with him. Swinging in a way like no other. Bill Clarke- that's blues and soul right there that we won't see the likes of again. One of the all-time greats. R.I.P. Bill.
Fats, Watson, Ramos, Holmes..all the cats from the West Coast scene are from the T-Bone Walker school and at this point in their careers, ('cept Fats) are so good it's absurd to try and rate them. The dark horse in this style of guitar blues is Rusty Zinn. If you haven't seen Rusty lately, as in 2010, then you haven't seen what's really hot in the West Coast style. I've seen all the guys listed above, Rusty's as good as any of them. Catch him on tour with Mark Hummel RIGHT NOW. You'll dig it.
Hi again, in what order would you rank the guitar players who worked with Bill? Personally I have this order: Alex Schultz, Kid Ramos, John Marx, Rick Holmstrom, Zach Zunis. Nils
Hi harpman. I could never "rank" them. I think everyone is good in their own style! To your list of guitarist's that played with Clarke you also can put Joel Foy, Hollywood Fats, John Marx, Steve Samuels, Ronnie Earl e.t.c.
Ranking is tough...but here it is: Hollywood Fats Junior Watson CRAIG PRINTUP Then there's the one's that were mentioned plus: Steve Kilman The Chase Brothers Paul Bryant Greg Virginio Little Henry Carvahal Jeff Ross Barry Levenson
Hi Nils. Yea, this is a big inspiration to see and hear. And for me, all guitarist's that played with Bill. I will post some more in a while. Send Jeannette a mail and buy the DVD, it's great music on it! /BS
I love w. Clark's harp playing, and especially like the riffing of his guitar player, his fills are perfect.

The intro comments aimed at Stuve and
Alex are funny as shit...as both guys were playing with Piazza back then. I think it's
Gil Lamar...owner of the blues record
store that says..."Yer not with the
Flyers band now...Yer with a real blues
band...." Now that's some funny shit.
I was at this gig, hanging out in the back.

Yeah, you gotta stick Hollywood Fats in there. He playing some smokin' minor blues on "Tribute to George Smith" on "Tip of the Top." Great cut.
Oh and don't forget the record he did with Smokey Wilson!
