If he is correct, then that means that there is a standard to which all beings are accountable; that being the case, that standard could not have come about by evolution, as evolution is without purpose or morality. If morality is human created, then the bronze age people you speak of - why do you think they were wrong and you are right? That was how they survived and passed on their genes.

Slavery was accepted. However, we as a race are becoming smarter and smarter with each generation. That's just how ANY society advances and survives. Even piranhas have social standards and 'morals' on how to behave and I'm quite sure they don't have a 'holy book' to guide them

They don't kill each other, they work as a group to reach a common goal. These "rules" aren't given by any kind of God or holy book. I mean, Bible isn't even CLOSE to being a moral and perfect book. Modern day humans are a great deal more advanced than supposed God from the bible. Which to me says that it wasn't God at all

@uayfb1 and while wars still exist, it's not as common as the times where full nations went to war for territory and so on. Basically, we advanced on our own. On the other hand, God's morals from the Bible are parallel to those of human beings of those times. I do not see anything to suggest God was somehow ahead of the curve compared to us.

@Winterdenni That was done by jephthah with no command from god to do so. during the biblical period, under the laws of moses (which were abolished when christ was born something that is conveniently ignored) oaths had to be met because the israelites took their oaths seriously. no where in that chapter does it suggest that he would not have won his war if no offering was made. through the old testament I have found no actuall command from god for human sacrafice. but he did stop human sacrafice

@aknewway In Matthew the law he specifically rebukes the priests for not following is one from leviticus about a child cursing their parents, so he clearly meant more than just the 10 commandments.
Also, under Jewish tradition, according to Jews, the 10 commandments are no greater or lesser than the other 603, & are all part of the same law.
God did, in fact, command human sacrifice, with Abraham, but took it back at the last second. He did, of course, command mass slaughter of innocents.
