  • i couldnt refill ativan for 3 weeks and my doctor gave me enough xanax until i could get the ativan but its so hard even a day without the ativan im starting to worry bout running out again lol

  • @sexya863254 ugh, i know the feeling.. next time just half some of your ativan (your body wont tell the difference) that way you have enough in the long run for emergencies.. my temporary xanax given to me did not help me much, but it did keep me from having those horrible shakes, etc.. barely..

  • After 3 years on Klonopin, then 4 on Ativan (8 mg per day), I was cut-off after a voluntary detox from prescribed pain management Morphine. No doctor (including ER) would reinstate. The Morphine was a relative (6 day) breeze compared to the nearly 1 year horriffic withdrawals from Ativan, of which they detox hosp. gave me only a 6 day taper.

There's a Benzodiazepine Withdrawal Support Group on Facebook if anyone's in need of help regarding benzo withdrawal, or considering it.

  • booze helps for shitty benzo withdrawals

  • you have friends in england xxxxxxxxxxxx

  • @jas7800s awe. yeah interesting how the web connects everything no matter how far you are.. and Texas is very far away from the England.. ;)

  • One day they will make the perfect happy pill. It will become the worlds new currency.

  • Surprised to hear your experience re: ativan/Lorazepam... because it sounds more like a withdrawal from remeron/Mirtazapine. Your ativan/Lorazepam experience is identical to my experience with remeron/Mirtazapine. (by the way, I've never had a problem with 1mg Lorazepam) But, it took about 4 months for me to taper down from remeron/Mirtazapine until I was finally practically licking Mirtazapine dust, ULTRA slow tapering down, ULTRA low dose, and now free from Mirtazapine. Good Luck friend!

  • @LoveLightLife i figured remeron had some withdrawal side effect but no one here on youtube has posted such experience.. I took half of remeron one day thinking it wouldnt do nothing and the next day i felt bad, but no where near like ativan's side effects.. perhaps 2 or 3 days would be bad off remeron. In this video though, that very first night i had remeron, except ativan and well the rest you know according to my video. I will consider tapering remeron in the future thanks to you. :)

  • same exact thing happ to me, i swore to myself i'd never run out again and I HAVE NOT (was that bad, 2 days). what i remember most is feeling like i was not inside my body, my voice didn't sound like me..couldn't produce a coherent thought.couldn't handle all the sensory input around me. everything was amplified-light, noise, heat, cold. perception was unreliable- surreal &almost cartoonish. EVERYTHING that i knew i dealt w/everyday seemed foreign to me. it's very scary-more imp-VERY dangerous!

  • @rfears1 that is a perfect description of what i should of said.. spot on! Im on .50 now and at the time this video was shot i was on 2mg.. at any rate, im 100% sure the same withdrawals (sensations, etc) will occur at .50. My doctor went ahead and gave me a 3 month prescription then gave me an extra one (hard copy script) just in case there is ever a gap when they are closed, holidays etc..

  • @bullfrog11758 if this is true, then i will have to archive this comment for future or should i say.. "near future\" reference.

  • I hope you got off the Ativan. It's pretty obvious that if 2 days without it and you have withdrawals, then you probably should stop taking it.

  • @ontariobuds not if youve been doing it daily for that long itd mentally tear u up. I use it for the same as his and those dreams are hell. Plus it makes your mind go crazy in add adhd bursts

  • the first time i went without it i stayed up for 3 days strait i never new how it was to not be on it

  • benzo withdrawals hit fast and hard. Its absolute hell to go through. Im no way near coming off mine. Been on them 12 years.

  • That shit fucks you up for days. 1 pill. Makes your eyes all droopy and makes you drop things, knock little things, accidents happen and you get so frustrated, FUCK ATIVAN AND FUCK DOCTORS hehe

  • yup that's benzo withdrawl. never stop taking it on your own you could have seizures. follow the ashton manual for tapering, Get off it before years go by. you do NOT need to be on a benzo for sleep!!!!! benzos are not for sleep.

benzos should only be taken for 2 to 4 weeks. I say NEVER.

  • I took mirtazipine and i woke up and couldnt read it was the most bizzare experience ever....i Could see the words but they just looked like squiqqles.....The Doctor said he had never heard of this but i think he's getting kickbacks from the drug company.

  • I was prescribed XANAX for four years and asked my doctor to take me off of them. The last script he gave me to wean me off lasted one week. I did not sleep the entire time of the wean and not for another 32 Days. My body would twitch and I began to see and speak to people who were not present. I contact my Doctor for something to keep me comfortable but he refused, Well I made it through barely and found out from my next Doctor that the weaning schedule he prescribed could have killed me.

  • Ativan to me was probably about the most addictive benzo i ever took. I was later switched to Clonazepam, which while also can cause equally severe withdrawal as it is a benzo, for me at least Clonazepam was much less addictive in that its half life is twice as long as lorazepam. I think starting benzos is very risky and the outcome is very genetic dependent, but if you have to do it, clonazepam or diazepam is probably the safest way to do it

  • Ativan should NOT be on the market....but the pharmaceutical companies are banking on patients getting hooked on this drug since it creates residual income & BIG BUCKS for them. Ativan is HIGHLY ADDICTIVE, DANGEROUS & IT WILL ROB YOU OF YOUR HEALTH, SANITY, INCOME, CAREER, RELATIONSHIPS & ANY QUALITY OF LIFE.

  • @seekatruth "vivid colors". from antidepressives and nightmares from lack of Ativan ... normal "vivid colors". are "nice" for brain but from lack of Ativan you will receive high definition nightmares and 3d horror movies in head for that reason "vivid colors" are not so good in his story.

  • .I'm after 3-4 months of taking 3 x 2.5 mg per day decided to stop taking drug , from Friday until Monday I was completely insane, I have not slept . Monday morning I took a 2 x 2.5 mg and slept like a baby.. slowly decreasing the dose of drug is "for the win" for sure.

  • hah... totally not fun... A week is even totally unnnn funner...

  • Thank you for making this video. Good to know people out there are looking out for each other. You rock! :)

  • should just switch to diazapam and slowly wean yourself off of it. works like a charm.

  • iv been on xanax for years..and i think the best way to get to sleep is hydroxyzine - vistaril...is not a benzo but it slows the brain down..sooo hard to get off benzo's

  • I only take them twice a week when I take Ritalin for homework to help me not freak out and get to sleep but if I go a few weeks off of them both, I am fine..

it depends if you take it everyday I guess...

  • i hate ativan i got the lowest dose for anxiety attacks. and one day i thot one was coming on so i took it then went to school. and i was feeling pretty high lol and was doin good till the last period of school and some kid took my seat. and then i found out that i get really pissed about the slightest things on the drug lol. so i pull him up and break a pencil and put it to his throat and tell him ima fucking kill you. i will never take them again. also still kicked out of school :(

  • The nightmares from withdrawals are the worse. I stayed up for three days 'cause I was too afraid to sleep before finally going to the doctor. They prescribed me Lorazepam for my alcohol withdrawal symptoms, but I only took it for a few days. Thankfully I had no withdrawal symptoms from the medication. Thanks for sharing.

  • You are probably aware now that Ativan or any benzodiazepines are not recommended to be used any longer than 2 weeks. Unfortunately, doctors don't tell you that nor do they even fully understand the true nature of the drug. The drug can save lives when used correctly. Unfortunately, that is only a very rare occasion. Usually, they are over prescribed and prescribed long before the safe recommendations.

  • @seekatruth perception yes.. well, it brought me back that very morning back the way it should be.. i suppose after that experience it seems ativan gives you this blanket over you,, a foggy like curtain.. and when i ran out those two days i noticed how clear my audio in my car was, how everything looked so sharp, you know when you wear a fresh pair of new contacts or you just wiped your glasses very clean. strange.. while it was interesting, the jittery effect makes it awful!

  • "yes i went there HD nightmares" that was funny. how long have you been on Ativan?

  • @cbappa2 at that time about a year or a little over a yr.

  • @masterpsychosis did you have to up the dosage after a while because of tolerance?

  • @cbappa2 no it has been good consistantly mainly due to the fact im not taking it througout the day only at night.. every now and then if its a tough stressful day i take a whole one but now i take half (1mg) and has been good... .so far.

  • @masterpsychosis

I am currently withdrawing from 1-2 mg of Ativan a day and temazepam 30mg a night. It has been almost one week and still in a fog. I have been in bed for aobut a week now suffering. Starting to come back to reality but feel like a prisoner in my own house. I will get through it and NEVER go back on it. I have been on both meds for about 6 months.

  • Try Seroquel for sleep. Much safer then benzo's. After taking it for a week or two the grogginess during the day will disappear.

  • When you say "Twitching" were you having involuntary toe movements such as curling or movement in anyway? or were the muscles just throbbing/pulsing?

Any arm jerks when trying to sleep? Like you will be asleep and your arm will suddenly violently jerk?

  • @starknife yes my right toe mostly and involuntary at that.. i still have some minor twitching now from not taking ativan that day and its been months now.. annoying and hope its not permanent.

  • you can have seizures and die when you stop any benzodiazepine like ativan cold-turkey. have fun with ever getting off that shit, its hell, you simply wont function. i just got out of rehab for what i thought was a miracle drug (klonopin) but all benzo's will take you for a ride that has a rocky ending. i never want to go back to that. good luck.

  • You can go thru w/d symptoms after just a week on taking Ativan. Iv been on it for 5 weeks now. I tried quitting cold turkey...horrible idea. Iv weaned myself from 3mg a day to just 1mg a day. I can go a day without it but anylonger than that I feel crappy. I'm basically taking Ativan to counter act the w/d symptoms... Not so much anxiety...tho I do get it.

  • There's nothing wrong with you. Stop your meds. You are just as God made you. You are not normal, but there is nothing wrong with you. Get up, take a shower, brush your teeth and go to work. Repeat.

  • I feel Ur pain I'm on wellbutrin for my anxiety and have ativan for emergency until wellbutrin has started to do it's thing for I am on day 2 on wellbutrin

  • I have been there man.

  • I was on xanax first then in the last few years switched to Ativan... I weaned myself off them in a week with no withdrawal symptoms. I was told to expect basically all the symptoms you described and possible siezures... but I didn't!! I now sleep very well, if I can't sleep I take trazadone... my life is sooo much better off meds, more alive and alert! just wanted to share

  • @JennLVsFC

I quit both ativan 1-2mg daily and Temazepam 30mg nightly about a week ago. The first few days were horrible and just stayed in bed staring at the ceiling but not as bad as I thought. I think Xanax withdrawal is worse which I went through a couple of years ago. I will never get back on benzo's! They SUCK!

  • thnx for sharing!!! i wish u all the best!!!

  • im perscribed 0.5mg ativan and im afraid to take it because ill get addicted lol and when i took it the first time it got me high for like 3 hours then that night i felt really weird and couldent sleep

  • Klonopin for three years, then Ativan (up to 8 mg daily) for 4 years. Helped greatly! But coming off (after a six day taper, to avoid seizures) has (for the past four months) been like 80% of your worst anxiety attack, 21 hours a day, with maybe three hours sleep, due to exhaustion. If you're on it, STAY ON IT! You'll never feel goosebumps again (one of the few good things to come back), but you won't have to go through this! I've discovered this process could take 6 to 18 months. Doctors...

  • it's good to make videos like this so people know about this drug that the doctor doesn't tell anyone about ya know i have read so much about the w/d of ativan everyone says :let me be blunt: it's fucking horrible

  • Have you tried temazepam? I found 15mg temazepam to be far more effective than 1.5mg lorazepam (ativan). So much more so, for sleep, that I now only take half a 15mg capsule at nighht.

  • @SUKItm i might look into that on my next visit.. he's now trying to ween me off 2mg lorezapam to 1mg,.. you think temazepam is better as far as getting off lorezapam.. i notice that one day i didnt take it i paid for it deeply as you saw on this vid.

  • Thank you for this video, It has really helped me understand my own recent experience with ativan.

  • wierd thing is some do, some dont get withdrawls.

    But u r hooked.

  • i take ativan for anziey the first only workd for a whil so i whn to tak another to clam m down and that wore off so i take a nother one i fell horrable i cant walk straight my beaths not that good but thats probably for smoking cigarerts and im extraimly deppreseed

  • you seem like a pretty cool guy how many adivan did you take a day?

  • @hippieho1 i only take it at night with mirtazapine prior to bedtime, so it was 2mg. Im now on 1 mg with mirtazapine and the effects are still the same as far as helping you to sleep.

  • dude check out my vids im 48 hours into it now im dying but worst is over after 3 days

  • You're hooked on the legit white peanuts. That's it, don't try to rationalize. After a coule of weeks, it's ONLY effective at alleviating craving symptoms. After, it's purely wd managment. Benzos = NO cure. BZ help for the VERY SHORT TERM (1-2 weeks, and even then.). Used for weeks and months they will AGGRAVATE your insomnia and indeed, every aspect of your like demanding higher cognition. A regular benzo user fucks up his recuperative sleep pattern, and dies younger, among other nasty thing.

  • After I went off Paxil I went on Ativan but only to be took it when my anxiety needed to be controlled, like when I was having a panic attack. It's extremely addicting but I never suffered from any withdrawal symptoms because I didn't take it on a regular basis. But while on it I suffered from sleep-paralysis pretty badly along with the horrible, vivid nightmares where I'd wake up screaming and often confused. After that I dropped all medications and conquered my anxiety on my own and won.

  • @spreeville This is the road to chemical freedom. I just completed a valium/alprazolam taper, the hardest thing that I've done. Harder to quit than opiates for those who now both. Took me over a year to get clean. Doctors giving ya BZ longuer that a couple 'o weeks R MORONS. And when U REALLY DO NEED IT, the fucking big shot filthy rich docs, getting a boner to use the script tab, can suddenly decide, STUPIDLY, to abruptly discontinue treatmemty. Long-term users KNOW BETTER, PhD basterds!!

  • wow. i take 10mg of lexapro wellbutrin & adivan at nite. & my dreams without it are sooo sereal & clear & all nightmares.!

  • what about trying trazodone, Iam due to start taking it in low dose to help me sleep and low dose buspar during the day for anxiety

  • buddy i feel your pain i have been without ativan for one day and i am shaking like crazy. man this sucks so bad lol

  • have you tried high does valerian root, that can sometimes be useful

  • @george05032010 I have tried valerian root and at high doses after the third night, and did nothing.. im on 1mg ativan now and soon .50 according to the psychiatrist. hopefully Ill be back to sleeping without medicine!

  • @george05032010

valerian should NOT be used by people who suffer depression, its a killer on the mood, I speak from experience and over here it has that warning on the bottle.

  • Just wanted to share my thoughts on this. I was on Lorazepam. At first I would take one as needed, then after only a week of taking this drug, i noticed I needed to take it everyday. Not having the drug in my system caused me intense anxiety. The anxiety was caused by my brain reacting to not having the medication in my system. I was worse off on this med, then when I got on. see, you think you need the medication, but in reality your body is going through withdrawals.

  • Just to clarify... You were taking 2mg a night for over a year?

  • @MegaLangosta Yes, 2mg for a year.. now at 1 mg.. i just take right before bed and thats it though.. does it seem bad to take it that long.??. it seems like every thing else failed even over the counter herbal stuff etc.. my psychiatrist seems like he trusts me taking this medication..

  • @masterpsychosis Uhhh... Yeah I could see getting seriously addicted to this stuff after doing it for a year. 2mg will have me rocking and rolling for a while, then knock me on my ass good. I thought it was only for detox, and short term management of anxiety. I need a psychiatrist like yours :>

  • i cant believe they have u on ativan that long i quit 3 days of taking it i knew i can be that addictive its hard to stop taking it just cuz how it makes u feel i hope u can get through it

  • I was taking Ativan 2.5mg every night for a year together with 15mg Remeron.

Unfortunatley both started losing effectiveness very quickly and didn't solve the Insomnia or Anxiety.

Instead made things worse when trying to withdraw.I'm now on Zopiclone 2 x maximum, which isn't any better.I'm still up all night for days on end.

I'm hoping one day that they make a sleeping pill that actually works

  • I think i know exactly what you mean when you said you didn't like how vivid everything was when you woke up. That used to bug me too. Haha. I find that i get in that state when my mind is completely clear and I'm just "present". I notice shit that I've never even noticed before even in my own room.

  • yeah the clarity moment i had that morning was nice, for a change, seemed like everything was in high def lol, but i learned not to ever run out and too taper off slowly when the time ever comes to stop this medicine.

  • I know you suffered. I've been in your shoes many times. Be careful.

  • Comment removed

  • So this is that I have to look forward to if I try to get off this junk? I regret the day I started taking this stuff because its just not that effective anymore..and I still have to drink 6 beers just to make the pill kick in at night.

    Thanks for making this video!!

  • @torgomax yeah and the crappy part is, even if you dont really feel the effects anymore like you used too, its in your system and you have to taper carefully. I just recalled today actually a co-worker who went without it in one day and had the EXACT same symptoms that i did!!! hey at least you know and i learned the hard. :)
