Oh! This brings back so many wonderful memories. I was in bulgaria five times during the 1980's. I saw many live performances of this Ruchenitsa music. I even had to dance to it myself. I was not very good but I adored it.

Only Bulgarians could make 14 / 8 time swing, and dance to it too. 2-2-3-2-2-3 or short-short-long-short-short-l­ong. The tonality of certain sections is ambiguous too - is the first section in C major or A minor? Also check that phrygian dominant/freygish scale at [2:02]. Love it.
