  • Good thing I came across this video; I thought I was the only one that wanted to compare the two languages. I have only just begun reading, but I already found a difference in the translations. In the first few paragraphs, the Spanish version mentions that the boy "woke up and took a sip of wine" but it is not in the English version.

  • The part, which is about the fire arm to kill the deer and the masturbation, is taken off from the original version for the censorship; it's a disgrace to alter like this.

  • Obviously, some parts are removed from the original version on purpose. It's a censorship in the US and other English speaking countries. There are a group of people, who don't the general public to think the "secret knowledge" does exist. The same group of people uses this knowledge for their own benefit. There are some people, like "J", to whom Paulo Coelho dedicate the book, who tapped into this hidden knowledge. The book, "Source Field" by Wilcock explains it well.

  • you made a video for just a book !! .. i would have just ignored everything !!

  • @amanismu Thank you for your comment - and I'm glad you liked the video. :)

  • Very nice video!

  • @dan1elpess0a Thank you for your comment! :)

  • someone can see the image at the second that appears something weird ??

it is something strange like the illuminati sign, just one eye, the pyramid, the circle around the pyramid, coincidence? or it is just a simple picture?

  • @fortyfiv3jerkin Hi, thanks for commenting! Hm...well, I was wondering about the symbols on the book cover too. I don't know if there is anything on the internet that shows Paulo Coelho explaining the cover or not, or whether he even designed the picture himself or not. But you bring up a good point.

Let me know if you find out anything about that. Thanks! :)

  • @EmeraldxFairy ---- You have a great point of view. Think about all the news as it is now in the U.S. are cut off all the time be cause we Americans can't or don't like to see too much blood or have the truth told to us. Yes books in the American market can have few messages cut off or added more verses the English version of it. You can always get good book out of the U.S. with out having to deal with cut off messages. This is just my opinion and I know I am not alone.

  • @gguardad Hi! Thank you for your comment. I agree with you about the censoring system here in America. However, I was actually surprised to see that there are more movies that are censored in other countries which we think are more open than our country, and that we are actually most open about things. I don't know about books, but I guess what I'm saying is that I could only blame myself for not looking beyond the censors. After all, the internet makes everything available to us these days.

  • @gguardad You're welcome.... Thank God for internet. This is something that no one can't control in a way. They do have a specialist team dough to block or remove things that can be extremely harming to viewers and can be sensitive for kids etc., Good luck...

  • Interesting vlog, thankyou. Have you finished reading the book?

I also care about the integrity of the messages in Paulo's books; have enjoyed them all. And they inspire personally with daily living and struggles on my path.

What jumped out at me is the common thread; that Melchizedek knew things that Santiago had never told anyone, with some examples to follow. A comforting message to Santiago, so that he was able to trust Melchizedek. (And also understand your censorship concern. Valid)

  • @danceswithcrayons Hi danceswithcrayons! :) No, I've been slacking and haven't gone through the whole Spanish version yet, though I've read through the English one a few times already. I really should, because I'm sure to find more differences between the two books. Yes, the book is very inspiring, and the story is a very classic one that rings true to me in many ways too.

Thank you for your comment. I am glad you enjoyed the vid!

    Have a nice day! :)

  • @EmeraldxFairy Thankyou, will visit again. Very best wishes!

  • I've got an english version and my book includes a preface.

  • @manohordijk Oh that's cool. Thanks for commenting. :)

  • Hi ExF : )

Well, it says my "comment removed" (by me) Well, that's not fair! Good Ol' YT! There were two copies of my comment at one time, because of a YT glitch, so I deleted one, and of course Good Ol' YT deleted both! haha! Well, at least we still have your reply! : ) Brian.

  • @LoveMattersMost Hi Bri! Yes, I noticed that youtube has been glitching a lot recently with my comments too! And not just comments, but favorites, ratings, and many other things! I figured that's what happened with your comment too, but I appreciate you letting me know anyway, and for taking time to post on here again. Have a good day! EXF :)

  • Oh I sympathise a lot with what you've shown here... I am Portuguese so I tend to read allot of works translated from English, and I came to notice that sometimes that kind of shabby translation happens here as well, just as an example, Sherlock Holmes drug habit has been left out of MOST Portuguese translations for years...it's not just one or two edition that do it but nearly all of them... That, to me is worrying, it is an act of censorship, pure and simple. Thank you for this video... :)

  • @flan984 Oh I am glad you share my sentiment about translations. I am shocked to hear about your Sherlock Holmes example! That's a really really big difference! That makes me worried too. My husband always says the same thing - he does not believe in ANY form of censorship at all. Thank you for your insightful comment! :)

  • @LoveMattersMost Thank you for your kind comments, Bri! :) I am glad to see that you agree about the integrity in translations. Yes, now that you mention it, I had planned to do a review on the story, but got more involved in the translation issue instead. I am quite a notorious slacker when it comes to making videos though, so hopefully it'll be soon when I post up another video on the story!
