To those that post these WONDERFUL tunes ; I say Thank You you Make an Ole Man`s Day Much Eaiser ! Music like this rejuvinates my ole ticker ; THANK YOU ALL !
@JimboGee1234 i totally agree, and if you look at the situational occurrences of inner solitude which may or may not arise depending on the sanctity of the happenstance happenings then only time will tell if the Freudian after effects of both Pre Jungian and Post Stalinesque emotional frisbees that are thrown not only in angst but also in remorse for the blinfold that meketh the man yet not maketh the watchmaker maketh the cloth that should never be worn unless its a day of remembrance.
@JimboGee1234 As a matter of fact, asshole, I spent my 21st birthday on an aircraft carrier off the coast of Vietnam. By the way, I don't have a single scar, physical or otherwise, from any of those riots. Man, I'm really glad that I'm not you.
@JimboGee1234 That's right, I was reading Freud and Jung starting around 55 years ago. Check out my Channel to see some of the other things that I've done. Not listed there, but what you may find amusing, is the fact that I've been in the middle of 3 riots, including Watts '65, and have come close to starting several riots of my own. Check out my videos SEX WITH CHICKENS and SEX WITH CHICKENS PART 2.
So by your logic, an ugly person shouldn't even step out of the house? Public sex is illegal and shouldn't be tolerated; there is no law, however, that states you have to be a great dancer in order to dance in public. You may not like it, but you have no right to tell someone he/she shouldn't dance. It's people like yourself that make other people afraid to try new things. I love the US as much as anyone, and I know there are far more important issues that we need to concern ourselves with.
underrated, under-appreciated.. sad story man. Del never knew how good he was... Probably one of the best pop singers of all time... unbelievable range and uniqueness.... This version is 10x the song James Taylor performs.
@jrooker69 I've watched my DVD of this show about 50 times, so you know how much I love Del Shannon, but don't knock James Taylor's version, because that would be an apple/orange situation. Del took a beautiful BALLAD and rocked the shit out of it. He did the same thing to another beautiful ballad, "Sea of Love."
This was two years before he committed suicide. He was having a ball and loving every minute of performing. This was amazing. What happened to this man? He was the greatest!!
I've heard plenty of guitar solos that were technnically better than this but very few I enjoyed more. As I go through the videos of him I'm amazed at how many hits he actually had. Even more amazed to find I knew the lyrics to all of 'em!
Damn Del was playing the shit out of that little Epiphone! It really looks like he loved that guitar in the last years of his life - just about every 80's clip has him playing it.
If it wasn't for Del, there d be no Handy Man guitar solo so we must laud the fact - lets go further, this has got to rank among the best RnR guitar solos ever recorded - and live as well! He made this song his own ......or I am biased?
This is one one of the best videos I've ever seen or heard on youtube, but I admit it may be because of my still-lingering devotion for Del Shannon..I like seeing him smiling in 1988...
Had my first visit to Little Darlin's in Sept 1992 (just before they tore it down) and the backing band from this vid, Rockin' Robin blasted out a stunning version of Runaway that I got 99% of on tape - will make an effort to convert and post as its worth it!
Del was what rock n roll is and should be. The stage presence, voice and guitar playing, fantastic. Nobody could rival him. Nobody could sit down when Del played. Man, I miss him.
He had some unique songs and could rock the boat with his singing and guitar-playing. Check out a little museum dedicated to Del Shannon in Coopersville, Michigan.
@ttex You call that DANCING? I call it an embarrassment to those of us who have true "rhythm," and can actually dance, not jerk around like a flounder in the bottom of a boat.
@theoriginalbadbob ....they're just enjoying themselves, they're not dancing to win a contest or anything. It's called letting loose and having a good time. People always have to judge. Unreal
@jstarks123 As one who has WON every single dance contest that I've ever entered, going back to the 50s, I take grave exception to your observation, sir. The fact that those people were having a lot of fun doesn't detract from the fact that their "performance" was execrable. I say, learn how to dance, or just stand there nodding your head to the music. It is, also, permitted to tap one's feet, as well.
@theoriginalbadbob ...it's great that you're an excellent dancer; I respect people who can dance well. However, as I mentioned before, these people were NOT putting on a "performance." They were there to enjoy the person on stage. Del Shannon was the one putting on the performance. That's why people go to concerts, to enjoy the music. I don't know of too many people (except for you) who actually care how the people around them are dancing......
@theoriginalbadbob ...and if you feel that people who can't dance properly should not, then you must also think that people who can't sing well should never sing karaoke, and that an un-athletic person should never even attempt to play a sport because he/she will just look foolish. Thank god that there are enough people in the world who don't care what others think. Those people were just doing what made them feel GOOD, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
@jstarks123 People shouldn't do some things in PUBLIC. Sing in the shower if you can't carry a tune. Don't wear shorts if you have ugly legs. The people of whom you speak, who were just doing what made them feel good, and don't care what other people think of them, are the same people who can't find the U.S. on a world map, and think (along with Bill Clinton) that a bj is not sexual relations. The absurd extrapolation of your argument would BE people giving and/or receiving bjs in public.
One of my very favorites from Del..he is really rockin' in this vid...what talent..when my broken heart needs repair, I just run to Del's vid....LUV U DEL FOREVER & EVER...
he certainly knew how to put energy into his music
