  • The place I work in is the fourth aged facility I've worked in. Whilst there are small differences in procedure, the over-all practice is the same.

    People can choose to believe whatever they wish about the health system for the elderly, personally I'll eat a bullet before I allow myself to wind up in a similar situation to the people I work for.

  • I began working in Aged "care" in 2007. In that time I have found two things to be true.

    1. There is no 'care'

    2. There are 3 types of nurse;

    a. The newly graduated who needs experiance

    b. The one who honestly cares

    c. The bitter and twisted hags who shouldn't be allowed to handle anything more complex than what colour socks they'll wear today.

  • @MrCanks

    may be the place u work isn't good enough. one thing to keep in mind that everybody is working for money, nobody is working there just because they like to clean poo n wee, yes everyone is working for money but their "job" is to care. if a carer isnt always very polite or smiling all the time, it dosent mean that they are not caring. they might be not be a good social person, but they do clean the "stuff" ( i dont need to explain if u are carer) they feed them, dress them everyday.

  • @robinkhaira1 which is i think good enough, for another person to clean n dress n feed a person every day. u think when residents families are not willing to look after their older anymore then these carers step in do that job for them, but even some of the family members are cold blooded selfish jerks. they never appreciate what are the carers doing for them, they just like to complaint for every thing. bottom line is carers do a wonderful for but, they need to be appreciated for their job.

  • cute! Im moving to Australia :-)

  • Nice to see more males in aged care. I am a male RN who has worked in this sector for 20 years. My main concern is tha lack of funding which makes it so much harder to attract and retain quality staff in the aged care industry. It also makes it difficult for organisations to adequately equip and maintain their facilities.

  • I'm thinking of going into aged care nursing. Thanks for uploading.

  • I am very impressed you have made a very realistic view of a day in aged care, congratulations

  • thanks, this segment is interesting as some people may stereotype aged care nursing as attracting older nurses, which as you can see is far from the truth. This nurse is going places and making a career out of aged care nursing.

  • very nice!
