  • yes, yorkshire terriers are hypoallergenic. they have hair, not fur like most dogs. fur holds more dander than hair. dander can irritate people who have allergies. so people with allergies are okay with this breed.

  • umm can anyone help me on this...i realy wanted a yorkie but i read thiss...not so sure no more! any opinions??

  • yes it is true

  • my mum has wanted a dog for a long time now but is sadly allergic to them. The other day though someone she knows who is experienced with pets said that the majority of people with dog allergies are fine with yorkies.Does anyone know if this is true?

  • It's called black and tan not dark brown and gold XD

  • My Yorkie is so GREAT

  • I love this breed. I had one growing up so as I moved in my own home I got another and have had him for a few weeks he is 11 weeks and looking to purchase a 2nd one I am home alot and love the fact that I have someone to care for, every move I make he makes. These guys are great little companions and very funny to watch and play easy to train all around good breed

  • I can vouch for how needy these dogs are. This isn't a dog to get if you want to keep it chained out back. Ours sleeps with us, and he follows us around the house while we go about our lives. This is the antithesis of owning a cat. He's quiet when appropriate, and I think that has to do with training. (He's woken us up at night for very legitimate reasons, though.)

  • @kevinthenerd i know what you mean, ours is very needy she is with us constantly she will not sit on her own under any circumstances if we are in the house i can't even go the toilet in peace i have to shoo her out, and she likes to go for a ride in the car every night just around the block, I guess we spoiled her. But I love her to bits nothing greets me the way she does.

  • 8 weeks sounds good to me, but I'm not an expert. Mine was raised for the first few weeks by my wife's uncle who has experience with them, and my dog's temperament is perfect.

  • Helpful.

  • is it a good idea to get a yorkie 8 weeks old. im worried because some books say they die before 12 weeks.
