@patchworkpoodle St. Jimmy isn't a reference to anything, St.Jimmy is a character/persona of Green Day's, he's pretty much a punk rock freedom fighter. He goes hand in hand with their other character Whatsername, and throughout the album of American idiot, the both of them tend to represent the theme of Rage v.s Love. Basically, he isn't a reference, he's their character.
