@windstorm1000 If I recall correctly, I think that in areas of the world like Austria and Germany there's a law against anything with Nazi imagery like games, books and movies, even if it rightfully portrays the Nazis as bad guys, because after what happened with WWII the people there are understandably concerned about nut jobs seeing it and possibly being influenced in resurrecting the Nazi thing all over again. At least, that's what I once heard (if I'm wrong, anyone feel free to correct me).
@CaptainGoofysstash certainly those laws prohibit imagery and regalia extolling the "bad old days" but then they also have museums recounting historical scenarios. I get the impression there might be a legal grey area as you describe it but the general society over there is highly sensitive about the subject and no one pushes the envelope in the grey area.
@radconserv86 Wow. What was lost on me the many times I watched this movie is the audience singing together with him with passion. They did not want what Hitler wanted.
best scene from this movie basically say F you to the nazis also is a complete opposite of the scene in cabaret where all the nazi stand up and sing tomorrow belongs to me.
i dont see how its much of an f-you more as a message that no matter what, i will love my homeland. true, he's sending a message to the nazis that they cant make him go against his country
For my a wonderfull song, I was only 3, and mekes me feel sad, I cry a lot.

It wasn't part of WWII. This movie came out in 1965. World War II ended in 1945... 20 years before.

Wonderful part from a magnificent movie. I love Julie Andrews, what a voice, esp. at 2:07 when she raises her voice...
