I loved Atlantis and in many ways still do. It had the perfect storyline and the CGI was fantastic. I have got the first 4 boxsets seasons 1-4. This and First Strike have some pretty brilliant CGI.
I don't watch a whole lot of sci-fi (besides this series, of course), but I think it's safe to say that this is one of the most epic moments of the entire genre.
I agree with you, be glad that a fine scifi series is still on. The Star Trek fans have a hard time right now, and can only pray right now for a new series. Too had they cancelled Enterprise it was a very fien series. I looking forward to see SGU (it will finally be be airing here in February :-) )

But if you mean SGU, well be relieved as you won't miss too much. It's a waste of time for fans who like the old series and don't want to see a BSG clone... ;-)

@xsonicsd its not a BSG clone, its crap cos they cant do anything with it. its a Alteran ship thats far more advanced then Atlantis. it doesnt make any scene but anyway that SGA movie I heard was shelved it wont come out, it was due out after SGA season 5, MGM wont release it if they do Id be surprised..... its already filmed why wait if its comming out??? sorry mate that movie is hopless if u think its comming out.
Well thats PoV, in my opinion its simply a mix of BSG + Lost, and some soap adds to get mainstream audience to the show (not only the hardcre fanbase). And afaik the scores for SGA were great when they cancelled it, so the only did it because they wanted to hop on the success of both other shows, esp. BSG because that way of making a SciFi show was refreshing and successful. Its not my taste but it deserves its place and esp. ebtter than the org. crap...
And about the SGA will see.. ;-), Announced for this and yes suppose to be finished by now. Well i think it will be released after SGU marked its end. :-)
We waited so long for a continuation, even if its the last movie, it would the best what came out since SGA got cancelled and SGU replaced it...

SGA started out with the SG1 writers, they had new writers for SG1. a few seasons later they swiched, the SG1 writers had SG1 back thats why it became good again... the down fall of SGA was putting the crap writers on Atlantis! the SG1 writers who started Atlantis knew what they was doing, the others did not! we would still have SG1 and Atlantis if the yanks kept watching it! no chance in the movies.
Well yes to give the show a start, after all its in the Stargate Universe, a spinoff, which the best to make connections to the other series, but it has to develop its own story, and if it was like that well thats good, esp. for SG1 that they keep up their way. And downfall nope, i don't think so...
OK the "Michael"-character was "interesting" but it started a good abse for other stories (esp. the effects of the disease he caused or the eps. about his labatories, esp. the testsubjects)
The downfall was cancelling the story write in the middle of the main plot (fight against wrath) and replace it in SGU..
The movies are (obviously) no great way to finish this, but better than nothing (as can be seen in the SG1 movies), but at least to (try) to finish the plot somehow and answer some missing question (bad of course if it start other questions xD)
And about the game, lol who cares, actually good if it was cancelled, i neighter know about it nor i would have cared. xD

This is in my humble opinion one of the most visually stunning sequences in SciFi history. Admittedly, there is some dang gorgeous stuff in BSG and Stargate SG-1, but this is still one of my fav pieces and one of the most beautiful. Kudoes to the makers and kudoes to you for providing this. Thank you!
that is why in the title sequence for seasons 4 and 5 it shows the city coming out of the water
