  • i tried the so called proper grip the other day and found it uncomfortable and awkward so i went back to my favourite grip as jacob said and now im sticking with it.i reckon thats the way to go to be comfortable and consistent.

  • Gee, if I sign up, I can add 30-40 yards!

  • @MellowCruisin - That's actually true. ;-) I've got over 4,000 members. With the basic swing speed training, the members normally get about 12-16 mph of additional driver swing speed in the first 30 days of training. At 2.5 yards per mph, that's 30-40 yards!

  • @jaacobbowden Well in that case, well done.

  • @MellowCruisin - Sure, be glad to have you on the site. If after you start and you haven't picked up distance in the first month, let me know. Usually whenever that happens it just takes a minor tweak to how they're training to get people going in the right direction.

  • TIP OF DAY IS DAN SHAUGER WHO TEACHES JACCOB ALL HE NO ABOUT GOLF SWING. I HAD LISTING FROM DAN AND HIT MY GOLF BALL STRAIGHT DOWN LINE NOW AND PUTTING GREAT TO AND TEACHES NOW GRIP CLUB TO GREAT TEACHES DAN THANK AGAIN

  • check out what i think its the proper grip and release , the one tiger and jack uses at hitmanhawky get a few more good lesson there also thanks your friend hitmanhawky, many different grips will work but i think this is the strongest even for the weakest players, tiger and jack uses it wonder why? ; ) i use it too

  • i put that 6 iron up your azz and twist HAHAHAHAHA

  • There's a lot of different types of grips that are taught - the overlap grip (most popular), the interlock grip, the baseball grip, the double overlap (Jim Furyk), the reverse handed grip (Josh Broadway or Chris Couch (Chris uses it around the green), etc. So I would say that there is no "right" grip, since there are so many that work. If you like it, it makes sense to you, and it works for you...then I'd say go for it.

  • hi thanks for the advice!

i was recommended to place my left hand on the grip with my thumb pointing upwards. You then wrap your right hand over the top, creating a stron grip.

    Is this right?

  • baseball bat grip always works best for me... i cant get any farther drives with any other grip, and im always afraid the club's gonna slip out.

  • If that's the ones that works best for you, then I'd definitely say to go with it. :-)

  • thanks friend

  • this is a great video but i have been told different grips by many people. do i just go with the grip that is most comfortable to me or?

  • Yeah, there are definitely different grip options that you can use successfully. I'd say just go with the one that makes the most logical sense to you.

  • i would go with wutever feels more comfortable, but if it were my situation i would look at the pros and see wut they use. if wut they use is comfortable and it works for you, go for it.

  • Absolutely... Majors have been won with all three grip styles...

  • You bet.

Generally the top hand for a neutral grip has the thumb straight down the shaft. For the bottom hand, there's some people that say it should be straight down & also touching your index finger...& some say it should be crossed over the shaft. I've done both, they both work fine.

There's any number of acceptable grip variations like that which work. For consistency sake, pick something & go with it. Making frequent changes (even subtle ones) makes it hard to develop consistency.

  • Great tips for us amatuers thanks Jaacob.

Are My thumbs ment to be in a straight line? and is there ment to be a gap between them?

I think my grip is my single biggest problem.

    Thanks! Andy.

  • Good tip.

  • Glad to help. :-)
