The guy looks a bit too big to me because the ship seems further away. I would blend the edges of the light beam a bit more. If you can imagine that the light beam would be a cylinder, and not just a flat/cuboid shape, then when you look at it from this angle the edges wouldn't be as bold. Much better than the first one too XD
