  • If you'd watched the series in the order they're numbered, he would have already explained that dividing by a fraction is the same as multiplying by the reciprocal. If every video had to explain the same basics over and over, they'd all be hours long and really repetitive. If this one is too advanced for you, find one more at your level and progress from there. Don't expect every video to be at a beginning level.

  • Nice video it helped a lot, Thank you...

  • Thank you for posting, very appreciated.

  • thanks! for standing on the side so I can see the whole question and answer : )

  • really, why

  • I agree with MrPhillyrick1, absolutely crazy to assume we knew that part! I had to go back several times trying to figure that one out. Not worth it, thanks anyway.

  • before changing the form of 1over 3 how do we know the value is 7 over 6?

  • nice vid

  • U really look like Steve Carell

  • thank youuuuuuuuu

  • how do u subtract fractions

youve really explained it to me how to add tht is really good buty how do i subtract

  • thank u!!

  • I think you did a way better job at explaining this than my College math teacher!!!!

  • OMG!! i AM MORE CONFUSEDD!!

  • Are you sure??????????

  • thx

  • or you could just say "okay kids add 3 and 2 together which is 5 and just put the denominator under it. 5/7"

  • He didnt simplify 7/6 to 1&1/6

  • ya im gonna fail

  • old man

  • this guy make a simple math problem way too complicated.

  • what the hell

this dude sucks at explaining s***

  • the first 30 seconds was absolutely crazy. you made assumptions that people already knew this. no explaination as to why this step was taken or how. maybe i have been out of school too long, but out of all the tutorials i have watched on youtube, this is the most confusing. it could be made simpler. why couldnt you just say the denominator stays the same?

  • agreeed

  • agreed lmao just add the tops when the denominators are the same end of story. Quick and easy!

  • agreed why make it confusing when you don't have to

  • @MrPhillyrick1

he's assuming that you've already been through this before.

  • The denominator stays the same because of what 2/7 MEANS. If you understand what it means ,then it's obvious why you work it out the way you work it out. If you don't understand what the fractions mean, then you're just memorizing algorithms that have little meaning to you. You can memorize algorithms if you like, but it's a much less efficient way to learn and less likely to lead to long-term retention that understand what's going on. Just listen to what the man has to say. Repeat if necessary.

  • @naomi1431 get a life. that was six months ago. how long did you look and how far back did you go to find my comment?

someone has too much time on their hands.

  • Um . . . yours was the top comment, so I didn't have to look far. Nice defensive comeback though. You managed to make yourself look like a _____.

  • @MrPhillyrick1 im agree with you im getting crazy

  • very clear to understand!

  • I have never really done this math before and was able to do the last 2 by myself. Shows that you are a great teacher and thanks again :)

  • Funny, as my daughter gets older an I normally help her with homework if needed, I find myself relearning all math I learned and forgot as a kid!!!

  • @chernmax Well don't feel alone. I'm relearning this stuff because math is part of credential process for new teachers. If your library has the old VHS tapes called "Video Tutor", rent them. Really helpful for me. Too confusing with different teachers here.

  • @gwg5640 Thank you, I use the website: Math(dot)com

  • hey

  • Oh man I wish I had him as a teacher he is so patient and I am totally lost in math but it looks like he could help me....I am trying to go to college but I am having to learn math all over again.

  • try to repeat what he said in the begining of the clip..fast! :)

  • ahahah its hard ass shittt..this dude is crazyy...good teacher though

  • Don't you have to reduce those fractions down??

  • They're already reduced in terms of fractions. You can convert them into mixed numbers, however:

    7/6 = 1 1/6 ≈ 1.16...

    3/2 = 1 1/2 = 1.5

    23/4 = 5 3/4 = 5.75

    17/8 = 2 1/8 = 2.125

  • Great teacher! Thank you.

  • because 4/8 can be reduced to 1/2.... 10 over 5 has to be rewritten..... 5 into 10 equals 2........ understand?

  • if the answer 4 over 8 is one half than why is 10 over 5 two and not also one half

  • whole numbers... 5 goes into 10 2 times so u get 2 its an improper fraction chaged to a whole number

  • Fantastic, thank you very much!

  • LOL thats overkill methinks mate

  • Iam sorry mr.teacher ,but Iam still having problems (adding-subtracting), I just don`t get it.

  • thanx

  • i think im in collage

  • I found that abit confusing

  • thanks

  • Good job contunue like this

  • AMAZING!!

  • I really think people like you are going straight to heaven. I can't thank you enogh.

  • I get this now. so now i need to learn how to divide and mult. fractions. Great Job! It helps me greatly with school!!
