these are nice bikes. They have good sides and bad sides. It puts out more horsepower than most 250 2 strokes, but also more weight, so it needs the extra power to stay competitive (keep it in the top and this thing RIPS!!!) one last thing is that KTM should ditch the E-start. It is convenient, but the kickstarter works fine for moto. it does not have the power of the 450, but it was made for people who think 250s are too slow and 450s are too fast.

@goodriddance4 well ur in a race and u crash its way faster to use the electric start then having to pick up the bike pull out the kikstart and start kicking by then with the electric start u can just pick the bike up and take off but yeah i get wat ur saying kikstarts are fun lol

Stay with the two stroke for this year man. Ktm makes THE FASTEST two strokes ever and the low end power on the two fifty will have you on the ground a lot

@helpyoukillme It actually makes sense. At a MX track you are never more than 100 yards form your truck or a power source. If your battery dies, just plug it in and start it.

But if you are riding off-road, and you are 50 miles form camp, THEN you need a "just in case" kick start. In which the KTM off-road bikes come with it.

@LamborghiniV12M Actually the 450 being rated for about 56 hp, 25 percent less would be only be 42 horsepower. Ktm rates it for just under 50, around 48 horsepower which is only around 14 percent less from a 22 percent smaller displacement. Not bad. There is about an 8 lbs difference from the 250 and a 4lbs difference to the 450. It may not be as good as the hype but not nearly as bad as you make it out to be. It pretty much falls in line with what Ktm set out to do and has gotten great reviews.

@dennisdeslager0 honestly id do a 125 or a 150.. anything bigger than a lites bikes is dangerous for a beginner... 250f if u think you can race soon but the biggest problem with four strokes is if you arnt an adept mechanic they blow up after a couple years

@dirtbikeatnight Sorry but i don't agree with 4strokes blowing up after a couple years, i bought my 08 450xcf in 2007 and i haven't had any problems with it. and i ride it every weekend and race every chance i get. I think that it mostly depends on how good you take care of your bike. ( I'm not saying your wrong and I'm right) any bike will last if you take care of it. I had a 2004 ktm 250exc with 2300 miles on it and never had to rebuild it, but i take excellent care of my bikes.

@dennisdeslager0 If your just starting I wouldn't recommend any motocross bike, for your first bike try a crf150f or crf230f, once you get comfortable with either of those

you can go on to a motocross bike, I would recommend you stick with the trail bike for at least year though so you don't go and kill your self.

@dirtbikeatnight i disagree. i say go out and ride a trail bike. one of your friends? or if you dont know anyone just buy a 125 (not modified) there still really fun fast but not to fast for a beginer. if you take the first couple steps and go easy with it then you will be fine. as long as your big enough to fit the bike,
