Dude that is the worst video of Melbourne I've ever seen. You must have just walked around a few of the city streets, and taken a few videos. I can see tall buildings and skyscrapers anywhere in the world, so it would have been an idea to show maybe some of the things that make Melbourne the wonderful, unique, very European city that it is. You didn't show any of the trendy, cool suburbs; and you also have an unhealthy obsession with trams.

@poshvuli Depends what you want. Nice family orientated tree-lined suburbs are found in the inner east - Malvern, Glen Iris, Camberwell, Balwyn, Kew, Hawthorn....but its pricey. Its more grungy and trendy as you move into the inner city suburbs like Fitzroy, Richmond, etc. Outer suburbs are more affordable but the quality of people tends to decline as you head to the north and west. I'll probably get shot for saying that :)
@poshvuli (cont) If you're looking for a nice, middle cless suburb, then I would recommend going for Mt Waverley, Blackburn, Ringwood type areas. Good shops, good schools, nice areas and affordable.

@SunshineBite if your saying there is no snow in australia, well there is. in fact there is 3 reasonable sized resorts driving distance from melbourne, Mt Buller is only 2 hours away. they dont really stack up to northern hemisphere resorts in terms of snow, but there is plenty to have an awesome time

i was born and raised up in Sydney, but i relised and i can tell that Melbourne is way more beautifull, it's way bigger, and much more to see and do, dunno why people like Sydney, it's boring and yeah once you see the harbour thats kinda it lol, nuffing special im going holiday in Melbourne soon and gonna have my 21st birthday there, im not the clubbing/ parting and drinking type of person so does anyone know any good places to go? resturant's ? coffee shops? and good shops to go

Melbourne can be very dangerous at night. Do not travel on train at night or walk on streets at night In Melbourne.
Sydney, Brisbane,Gold coast, Perth, Adelaide,Hobart, Darwin etc are very friendly and much safer then Melbourne.

Melbourne is the best. I miss the place. It is my hometown. I've been away a long, long time now. Melbourne is both cool and rock'n at the same time. Chilled and redhot. Totally excellent place. Friendly people, they especially like to meet foreign visitors. Just step into any city put just after dinner time, go to the bar, you won't be there long before somebody strikes up a conversation. In some city pubs maybe don't stay too late in the bar, eh? :-) Happy Trails to ya.

@SunshineBite if your saying there is no snow in australia, well there is. in fact there is 3 reasonable sized resorts driving distance from melbourne, Mt Buller is only 2 hours away. they dont really stack up to northern hemisphere resorts in terms of snow, but there is plenty to have an awesome time

Australia is its own continent and its own region, independent of Asia and Oceania. Australasia is just a broad description, not a clearly defined region. Also, demographics clearly show that Australia is a white country, with 92% of the population of White European ancestry. Multiculturalism has only been around here since the 70's and still minuscule.

Could anyone please estimate how hard it is to find a fairly cheap accommodation (rental apartment, flatshare, houseshare etcetc) for a Swede like me?

Plan to have somewhere to stay when you get here even if its expensive.. Once you start your study you will find share accomodation with other students easly
Thats what most do ... Homestay at the start and share with others once you start making some friends at School
