I thought Venus came across as very intelligent and sophisticated, her life wasn't sad at all, she lived her life on her own terms. She had interesting things to say and her observations & commentary on sex between a man and a woman are dead on, she also said that many of the ball walkers, 95% of them were hustlers. I think she was right. What is sad and tragic was the way her life ended.

this is my favorite scene of the movie, the visual alone is deserving of an award. im only 18 so i missed out on the 80's but everytime i see this i gag that this is the peir, the peir looks nothing like that today!!! it's weird because eventhough the peir is considerably nicer now, i kind of wish it would go back to the broken down grafitti canvas that i see in this video because it looks like it was a lot more fun.
